@emosam072 ай бұрын
It would arguably be the best way to do the Silmarillion justice. Like,, and all the extended stories within Children of Hûrin, and The History of Middle Earth Volumes. Dream come true there. Needs to be taken completely seriously, cant be like RoP and try to constantly appease fans of the movies with callbacks and similar lines etc etc. None of that. I'm excited for this movie.

However if they go full on warrior princess with her (like Rings of power) I feel it lessens what Eowyn does in LOTR.

Yes. Great point. It is tough to balance between a shield maiden and an Amazonian Girl-boss. TRoP did the latter to Galadriel. I hope PJ and company were able to find that balance. Well, well, the first reviews are available now - and they are less than stellar! Frankly, l am not surprised. I haven't been able to get very excited about the plot of the movie and it's main characters, and I am also not an anime fan. The trailers didn't manage to change my mind. But I was still hoping to be proven wrong. However, even the positive reviews are mostly lukewarm. No one who has actually seen the movie by now, seems to have enjoyed it as much as they wanted to enjoy it. I guess that movie really isn't for me 😞

I'm incredibly excited. I have enjoyed ROP; I know a lot haven't. I have the same timeline and plot issues a lot of people have with it so I get it, but I have enjoyed it nonetheless. With War of The Rohirrim though, I'm excited - knowing this is in the LOTR movie version of the universe, and that PJ has had a hand in it, it's pretty nostaligic to my teens. Even the fact that it's getting a December release. I feel like I get to relive some part of my youth.

I think it is a mistake to release the Art Books before the movie comes out. The reason is simple: everyone who buys the art book will be disappointed when they see the anime because the detail and quality are markedly worse.😞 My wife has a dozen anime art books, all bought AFTER she watched the Animes. If you don't get disappointed looking at the trailer picture and then looking at the artists' detailed depictions of the characters than you don't have high standards at all. 🤨 On the other hand, serious Cosplayers base their costumes on the art books, which means they will be able to go to the theater cosplaying as one of the characters.😁👍

Yeah the more I see this the more worried I get. We know he is in the film but I almost guarantee he wont be the one to kill Wulf or become king, and we all know who will do both instead.

It saddens me that they looked through such excellent material and decided to tell it from the pov of an unnamed character, just so they could make a movie like every 20s movie (main character strong willed warrior female fighting her station from within and battling her enemies from without) Grrrrrl Power, am I right!? 😑
@NathanS__Ай бұрын
Such a dumb take. All the named Characters die before the story is finished, except for Helm's nephew Frealaf, who is famously NOT with Helm Hammerhand or the main fighting at the Hornburg. Helm's daughter plays a huge part in kicking off the war but I'm sure if they added a new son to be the PoV character that you would complain just as much.
@MarcumDavidАй бұрын
@@NathanS__ Imagine being so ignorant that you think the protagonist of a story can't die. In some stories every major character dies. That's the way Tolkien had it. Why make the story a story of worldly triumph? And such a played out Grrrl Power story at that.

Shame they're ruining it by inserting their own non-canon characters. Tolkein didn't write about Helm's daughter (or even name her), not because he forgot but because she wasn't important in the story. Nothing he did was accidental. Really concerned that this'll just become another low quality Mary Sue power fantasy just like Star Wars' Rey, Rings of Power's Galadriel, and so many others. Shame. A true telling of the War of the Rohirrim per canon from the perspective of Helm Hammerhand and his sons Hama and Haleth would be great
