Depends on a few aspects: as the size of the Destroyer plays a part, how old the destroyer is also plays a part (better tech means better systems to prevent flooding), and which country fired the torpedo plays a part (Japanese torpedoes are very powerful, American Torpedoes suck because they are often duds, and the British and Dutch have their own aspects). The mod is fairly well balanced, but also takes real life factors into some consideration (which is why some countries have better torpedoes).

I like to think they were on their way, just settling in, and someone on the fleet carrier said "Hey, where are all the escort ships?!' and the commander said "By the Emporer's nose hair! I knew we were forgetting something! Go back and get them" but the Zuiho red the flashing message as "We are going back to get escorts" and the captain said "Hah! foolish sailors forgot their escorts in port, well, we brought ours and they are with the saki down below! We're good!"

A weird quirk of the game is that you have to click on Silent again after a torp launch because the game assumes that you really really wanted to reload the tubes after a launch.

I think it's more that you have to break silent running to fire the torpedoes - there's no real way to do that silently. Once you've done that, the game automatically starts reloading, because its conditions for doing that are just "torpedo tubes empty" + "reserve torpedoes available" + "not in Silent Running."

Wolfpack - this little sub is a short-range vessel which has a base ship which is a Submarine Tender so there's one of these loitering about in the Java Sea area in Southern Borneo. You could end up with another two or three of these little subs with a top speed of 19 knots. I've seen some of these in Darthvegan's Java campaign as well. These have fewer guns than a light cruiser but more than most Destroyers. These little subs do have one other weakness. Very short range. It's possible that a few of these Submarine Tender might be there. So don't be too surprised if you see more of them. The one you have caught may have been cruising at 2 knots and your two destroyers from Python caught it. They got up to 15 knots. Until five depth charges sundered it. I've seen some of these and with two torpedoes - their offensive capacity is dubious. They are probably more dangerous to merchant vessels.

I know in my campaign as ABDACOM, the first invasion force I spotted heading to Singapore had Akagi and the small Imperial Army amphibious landing ship Akitsu Maru, so I am surprised you have only stumbled upon the Shokaku class and Zuiho class thus far.

He probably stumbled upon more carriers in previous episodes. His destroyers evacuating forces from Singapore were pounded by quite a lot of Japanese carrier-based dive and torpedo bombers, we simply have not seen a source of them 😉

That hit right on the screws/rudder would probably have been fatal in reality. The broken propeller shafts can tear up more compartments and cause a lot of flooding. It is what doomed Prince of Wales right before the start of this campaign.

Youh should have your aircraft do multiple strafing runs when they're in a convoy like those destroyers were earlier in a pack of 5. Its very effective.

Have you tried kamaikazee strikes with your planes? Maybe on the harder to sink ships, a few direct hits with some low value planes would sink them quickly, especially something like a capital ship. Just for fun to see how much damage you can do.

Anybody ever seen this?? IL2: Battle of Stalingrad (and the rest of the great battles) All of a sudden I am getting color issues. For example. I use the navigation balloons. If I rudder one way or the other, a transparent blue "x-ray' of the main red balloon will lag behind and separate from the red balloon. as I fly straight and level, it goes back to normal (not quite to normal, I can still see the ghost blue balloon ready to separate at the first movement.) The more extreme the movement of my plane, the more sever the effect becomes. At worst, damn near a full ghost balloon is visible beside the main red ballon. The planes and all objects and identifiers do the same thing. It is still playable, but DAMM. its frustrating. It had been running wonderfully and I made no changes (i dont think :( ). My troubleshooting. IL2:blitztobruk runs perfectly so that should eliminate any hardware issues. (Monitor, GPU, etc.) My cards software (Radeon 5600) is set to automatic. I have downgraded my graphics settings from ultra to high and then to balanced without any tweaks. Same issue as stated above. I get the same effect with external views so that should eliminate any canopy settings. all types of missions (quick, career, etc) same thing. I have tried tweaking settings to the point where I am ready to reinstall the game. No VR. and VR setting is turned off in the Graphics settings of IL2. And, failing a fix, does anybody know how to save the key bindings and joystick settings so I dont have to go through that again. It took me forever to get them set. Thanks for any help.

If it's a surface ship and on fire, reducing speed helps reduce the spread of fires on board.
