Mr Speaker, I am deeply patriotic. I never want to believe anything bad about our country. I never want to call into question the behaviour of our soldiers and our army, who I believe to be the finest in the world. And I have seen for myself the very difficult and dangerous circumstances in which we ask our soldiers to serve. But the conclusions of this report are absolutely clear. There is no doubt, there is nothing equivocal, there are no ambiguities. What happened on Bloody Sunday was both unjustified and unjustifiable. It was wrong. David Cameron PM

One should never indulge in ‘but what’s happening to them’ politics in any walk of life. You are taught that whenever a child and told but look at yourself. ‘ did you do wrong?’ We know the British did wrong in Derry. We now know they did wrong in Ballymurphy. Innocent civilians will killed and the truth buried and in fact lies were concocted. This is irrefutable and par for the norm for the British at the time. You claim Ira are terrorists. You are the best of the best and a legitimate army so it is right you be held to account. You shouldn’t act like petty kids complaining about others as an excuse when your conduct falls below the norm. 1000s of Ira men and women went to jail and sometimes wrongly, so why should the British soldiers be exempt. They came in to protect Catholics but quickly turned into a force to suppress Catholics. They never protected people in Catholic neighbourhoods and facilitated the removal of all Catholic’s from predominantly Protestant workplaces. The letters have been handed out, they were negotiated and if you are not happy removed your government. That’s democracy. But to state that despite appalling conduct soldiers should be untouchable is shocking. Remember also The Birmingham Six, Guildford 4, Lee Clegg, Aidan MacAnespie. Also cover ups. We aren’t morons or daft. Our young ones now have legal, medical and aeronautical degrees to name a few. We can recognise what went on and to tell us that it is was ok is trying to put us through supression again albeit mental suppression

If you put the soldiers on trial you need to put the terrorists on trial too, as if you will be able to gain a conviction on them either ie in a court of law with rules of evidence and beyond a reasonable doubt provisions, (do not make the lawyers rich) how about offering more compensation for the people effected, wounded, killed by the terrible events ie Blooding Sunday, bombings on Black Friday.

Ha the protesters at Bloody Sunday were protesting laws that allowed Northern Irishman to be imprisoned WITHOUT A TRIAL! A clear and obvious infringement of basic civil rights. Do not forgot that the story of British oppression of Irish peoples goes back hundreds of years before the events on Bloody Sunday. For example, the potato famine, which killed around a MILLION Irish civilians. You might say that a potato blight is no fault of the British government, however the British where exporting huge amounts of grain from Ireland whilst innocent women and children were dying in hovels. It is much more complicated than one massacre and one investigation, it is a lengthy history of oppression.
