I'm more impressed with the fact the Human base was kept.

After being defeated in this battle with no Starfall nor bases destroyed, Archimonde went back to Argus and decided to not invade Azeroth ever again.

It was really clever using treants to distract the rest of the undead army while bits and pieces of it get themselves focused down elsewhere.

i just realized that Archimonde is technically a summoned unit the way he got to earth with the summoning ritual and wisp deals damge to summoned units thus in the cinematic he got killed with thousands of wisps lol
@Krakaet4 жыл бұрын
More than that, though, is the "mana burn" effect of Wisps (50 mana/dmg per wisp) and the fact that Archimonde is one of the, if not THE, most powerful Eredar warlocks of all time. So, one would guess that his mana pool (separate from the WC3 unit) is almost infinite. Hell, he had enough power to destroy the entire city of Dalaran just by drawing a circle in the sand. So, assuming that he has 10,000 mana, and Wisps burn 50 dmg per hit. . . you see where I'm going with this.

@Valentino G The wisps’ detonate ability drains mana, but it doesn’t burn it, so unfortunately this theory doesn’t hold.

I wonder if the Orcs were getting bored over there.

I was always disappointed that we didn’t see a return of the Horde/Alliance combo base idea that appeared in the first Night Elf mission. I suppose the devs decided that the resulting unit combinations would make this mission too easy. (i.e. Thrall and Jaina fighting side by side, priests healing the hardy orc grunts, tier three units getting inner fire, bloodlust and roar stacked on them, etc.)

I've yet to beat it in Jaina's base (even with Starfall) but it seems like if you're in decent shape after the attacks around the 30 min mark they stop growing in numbers so you just have to not make mistakes. Still nothing short of impressive from your part, of course.

So I finally managed to beat this without losing Jaina's base (with Starfall I mean), I did most of the same strategy as you but I kept a Druid of the Claw on hold position on the back to cast Roar. While it might not seem that good when both Furion and the Dryads are immune the damage increase for the Hippogryph Riders is excellent, especially combined with Tyrande's Trueshot Aura since it's a 55% damage increase. Couple points: - The Land Mines are super important as you showed, particularly against Anetheron waves since Reign of Chaos Infernals will otherwise eat your Dryads alive. · That said, Trueshot Aura is also pretty meaningful if you have an all-ranged comp so you need to try and run her back asap. The best option is to go buy the mines when the enemy attack is almost defeated. - While it might seem that you can give Tyrande the Necklace of Spell Immunity and have Furion in pickup duty you'll find that he's much more important at the front and if he's not mana immune he'll get eaten alive by Mana Burns and whatnot. The unstunnable Starfall is not worth it imo. · Speaking of Furion, try to get Treants as often as you can to soak up damage for your Dryads. Every little thing helps in the long run. - Dryads are solid and cheap and you can rebuild them quickly, Hippogryph Riders are not. Generally speaking, every time you hear them dying you're a little set back because it's a real hassle to train and mount so be cognizant of that. - Sending some Wisps to build Moon Wells and Protectors (particularly once your Gold Mine runs out) is helpful since your units won't always be in tiptop shape after a fight. It's not terribly necessary but it helps-especially if you don't put them on autocast so they actually have mana to heal. · Again this is more of a luxury than a necessity but grabbing the Healing Wards from Thrall's base can be helpful for a particularly large engagement. I didn't actually end up using them much but they're there. - As I'm a bit crazy like that I tried to keep Shandris alive as well. She's significantly stronger than normal Archers (and apparently that prevents her from riding a Hippo) so the additional damage is welcome. I had her on a separate control group alongside the DotC on hold position, she has a great range which means that she can participate in the battle without running to her death-although an occasional Infernal might land on top of her, or even Archimonde's four (!!) Doom Guards; that's some scary sh*t. I did save often because I'm aware that at any moment things can go awry, maybe some day I'll be able to beat it in one go without losing Jaina's base. Still, you shouldn't refrain from saving if you need to, even if it's a challenge run. If anyone wants to try this, have fun!
