I love how you simply locked Illidan in place by surrounding him with 4 shades. That gave you all the time in the world to deal with Vashj and Kael without having to worry that Illidan might take control of more obelisks. Genius.

This level of genius and simplicity always made me laugh. Reminds me of that starcraft mission where you're supposed to destroy this large base and escort an SCV to a beacon--or you can just defense matrix the SCV and rush to the point from the beginning...

Its awesome but awfully exploitative. Nothing wrong with being entirely ruthless with the tools the game gives you, but, I wouldn't do it in a normal playthrough.

I can confirm dragon turtles still works to destroy Illidan's last base in reforged, ditto trapping him with shades. Even better since speed scrolls stack to 5. I found pickup up corpses unreliable, so I stole a Naga worker, made spawning pools and dragon turtles to kill and put in wagons. At least they build super fast. I timed Obelisks 2 and 3 back to back so the damage would be enough to wipe out all the tidal guardians, sped clearing Illidan's base, 3 in a row would be even better.

Might be remembering wrong, but you couldn't build structures with the Mur'gul workers in this versions. That "trick" would be exclusive to Reforged.

Ha ha :D Nicely done. The same trapping Illdian trick I made with burrowed Fiends and Beetles. I had so much laugh when I was seeing Illidan unable to move around. The battle over the gab at ~56 min was neat :)

Extremely well done, very clever use of meat wagons and dragon turtles. Amazing. This and NEx04 Wrath of the Betrayer were my top picks for hardest to kill the enemy bases, never managed to do either myself. On this one the most I ever did was clear the map then kill the turrets around the northeast base, which don't get rebuilt. Sacrificing the airforce to kill naga workers makes perfect sense. As always, once the workers and main buildings are dead victory becomes just a matter of time.

That body lock was genius. Had to rush to the 4th obelisk after taking the first 3 (as well as destroying Kael and Vashj's bases) because of the constant attacks by Illidan. It would've been great if I had used this strat against him.

I never originally finished this mission on hard, trying to destroy the north base was just impossible - when Illidan would again gap another. Also using destroyers make everything so much easier. Trick killing Kael is to forfeit one base while you rekt his base, which take so long time.

I don't get it as how you can surround Illidan with shades. I remember clearly as yesterday when I played chapter 3, where Sylvanas has to destroy Varimathras base. It was nearly impossible to beat this mission because my Sylvanas didn't learn Silence from chapter 1, and because Varimathras would do the ridiculous Necrowagon strat. I didn't want to start all over again from chapter 1, so I thought of a strat. I noticed that in order for Varimathras forces to come to my base, they have to cross a bridge, I could use that in my advantage. I would use 4 or 5 shades to block them. But when I created a shade, I sent him to the bridge and observed. And guess what, the Necromancers went through him, the Meat Wagon went through him, Varimathras went through him, Abominations went through him,... I was so sad that my strat wouldn't work. Now that I see you use 4 shades to surround Illidan, I am like wtf.

The game maps seems to be patched differently. Some receive the newer patches like the sylvanas one other's don't for some reason like this one here. 🤷

I've manage to destroy Kael and Vashj bases without the shades trick, but i am stuck with Illidan. His base is inaccessible by foot and it seems that Illidan have *greedisgood* + *warpten* cheats on, when i finally destroyed his army with a lot of losses of my army 30 seconds later he appears with another massive army! Seriously this lvl is complete bullshit.

The more Obelisks you control, the faster his production rate. So don't leave the top obelisk last because that's the most fortified obelisk.

Answer is yes! I was doing an 'only command ghouls' run recently and I could only cripple one of the outposts in the sneak attack, so I had to deal with both Garithos and Detheroc the entire mission. It was incredibly challenging and required some insane cheesing of the AI, but I managed to do it. :D Run should be coming on my channel sometime, not sure when I'll upload it!

But if I could do it while only taking out the human expansion and only being able to command ghouls (in this case it really was ghouls only because my starting units all died in the initial attack while barely doing anything), I'm certain its possible to do it with no crippling of enemy bases at all/allowing use of your heroes/other good units. You can really cheese the ai to pretty much negate every attack wave, which allows it to be possible.

@@redwings13400 Depends I guess. I never tried "breaking" the ai (no point to just exploit glitches) and I'm not the best player (I could do the game on hard and wrecking Illidan's base but that's pretty much it)

@@xxlCortez If you don't allow exploiting the ai, that level would be very difficult with no sneak attack. I'd guess possible, but incredibly hard. I've never really tried to break the AI either before I started my challenge runs, but doing the frozen throne while only being able to command ghouls was way too absurd to do any other way. :D

Lmao I used the 'strategy' of trapping a hero with invisible units against Maim in Lord of Outland. He'd gone to check what happened when I destroyed the reactor and I just trapped him and destroyed his base without having to worry about a level 10 hero (not that he was much of an issue since you have Staff of Silence). Now imagine if the AI made Illidan use Immolate when stuck... While I'm obviously not gonna carry the land mines from mission one all the way I think destroying Vashj as soon as possible gives you a lot of leeway to defend the bottom obelisk-even if her attacks aren't that strong, Tornado is a very annoying ability if you can't stop it in time. Her base falls really quickly unlike Kael's, too.

It's Couatl's dispel. Animate dead units are meant to be dispellable, only magic they aren't immune to.

Kinda impressive, but this mission has a lot easier way to destroy enemy's bases. You just spamming frost wyrms, making their nests as close as possible, i dont quite remember what is true number of necromancers, but i think is 12, and you need non-stop production of wyrms to full limit until all remaining enemies fall from endless battle. On 4th base\obelisk you can build a lot of towers so blocking illidan by shades is not actually required. After 21 thousand gold (its kinda 8-9 waves of wyrms), you will achieve what you want.
