Very true. He and his band do some seriously incredible stuff. I think it's a octave mandolin though. Here they called it a "mandola".

Hey Ward ! You gave me inspiration to play OM when I heard Scheldewals. So I got myself an OM by Thomas Buchanan. Today I also found out that you will be playing in my hometown of Aberdeen 24th Nov. See you there. Regards Dave

This is absolutely stunning playing, really inspiring -- what a gentle rendition. Is this tuned in GDAE or GDAD? I don't suppose you have the notes of the arrangement written down anywhere? Either way, gorgeous playing.

Great music! Just wondering why a capo is used. No singing, so... easier to finger, or written for possible accompaniment with other instruments???

Hi Ward. I just buy a octave mandolin because of you! 😄 What a great instrument ! Thanks for the inspiration... Could you please tell me much about the strings you're using, as the pick and the capo? It would help me to start the good way. Once again thanks for these beautiful tunes. It fill me up with good vibrations. Hope to see you live soin! Nathanaël

Thanks so much for your great enthusiasm, Nathanaël! Great to hear you bought an OM! I use a Shubb C5 capo, Elixir strings (013, 022, 032, 045) and Dunlop 0.60mm Tortex picks. Good luck and hope to meet you soon!

@@WardDhoore Thanks for these informations! I'm just working on two of your beautiful tunes : Scheldewals and Morgenzon. "Work in progress" I would Say! When you say Elixir strings, you mean Elixir guitar strings? I bought d'Addario EJ80 to test them as I usualy use Thomastik infeld on my Mandolin but just find out that they don't produce OM strings yet...
@zachalleran9694 Жыл бұрын
Hi Ward, beautiful playing. You are very talented! Are you buying elixir singles? And your A string (0.22), is this wound or unwound? I just got my first ball end string octave and was curious if there are any coated options available so Interesting to hear you are using elixir.

@@kucrapoc81 Lovely to hear that you are playing my music! Yes, I use Elixir acoustic guitar strings (013, 022, 032, 045). Good luck and best wishes!
