The escape with Lisa is one of my favourite moment in games. It feels like satire against all the murder rampages “normal” characters like Nathan Drake go on, and how the side characters around them just act fine instead of being freaked out and terrified of the experience like they should be.

This is one of the reason i think FC 3 has one of the best stories from any Ubisoft game. The writing team went above and beyond writing a good morality tale and deep characters that have interesting personalities. As Jason kills more and more people and lets chaos rule his heart, the only people showing him this dark path are his friends. Lisa is the mirror of consciousness that reflect all the chaos back at him by showing how concerned she is at what he is becoming. And even though Jason leaves with his friends on that boat, part of him remains behind on the island and he will never be the same again. His love story with Lisa will probably fail and he will need many years of therapy if he wants to heal from all the trauma. This is probably going to be the best written Far Cry game ever made and that is a sad fact, looking at how the gaming industry is going nowadays...

In origins the ending is basically “you tried to get revenge against a large organisation when you’re only one man, obviously it was an impossible and unrealistic task and you did not succeed, wasting your life for a pointless endeavour and losing your only living family in the process of failing to move on with your loss” you even meet others in the story who are coping with the same situation in different ways. Some clinging to impossibilities like resurrection, others becoming religious fanatics or becoming exactly what they hated in some desperate attempt to get the power necessary to avenge a lost loved one. But in the end they all end up dead or like your character bayek, an empty husk who realised he wasted his life too late and lives the rest of his life having failed to accept reality and it’s too late to regret it. Worn and emotionally exhausting by the time of the dlc’s.

I’m kinda glad that Vaas is alive in his DLC, it shows how fucked the whole island is and how he wanted to escape it. He genuinely loved his sister but she only did traditions and even wanted him to bang her, which he didn’t want to. It’s also an amazing look into his psyche, and the ending is the cherry on top for Vass.

Vaas is a fractured hero. He’s not evil, just incredibly manipulated. Before the fight with Jason he was even considering aligning with the Rakyat once more and starting a war with Hoyt.

Vaas was not a psychopath, he was a product of trauma. The real psychopath is Citra, who singlehandedly has the whole island dancing on the palm of her hand, doing anything she wants without suspecting her. She was the one who degraded Vaas, she is indirectly responsible for every victim of Vaas Montenegro.

Killing Vaas was a huge moment to Jason, specially since killing him means that Vaas is reborn in him. Vaas surviving that event makes that moment less powerfull to me. Also it doesn't make sense, how did he survive?? I get that Jason was drugged but come on, he was stabbed multiple times. Are you telling me that Jason never even got close to him? That's lame in my opinion. But what is done is done. If he is gonna live, I would like to see him reunite with Jason, to see how they deal with each other now that the actual villian, Citra, is dead.

1:39:30 i actually like to imagine the southern island being so barren is more so due to Hoyt's influence over there, seeing that him and his private army have occupied there more than the northern island. They're much more tactical with the jungle setting: knowing that they won't operate as well in foilage and any other natural source that isn't the solid ground underneath their feet. so they adapted by clearing the trees so that it's definitely much more accessible to them. it goes to show how much more bigger of a threat they were than the Pirates: making you so vulnerable out the open

I have an idea for far cry 6. I think Vass faked his own death at his compound by grabbing a pirate of a similar build and burning his body so then it looks like Jason killed him and burnt down his camp. That developer never 100% said that Vass died, he said that Sam and the Pirates referenced his death however what if the Vass fooled them. Anyway though. Cut to 10 years, later Jason is still dealing with the trauma of what happened to him on that island. However he now lives in a Northern Australian city (Cairns for example) with a wife and kids. One day Jason is walking into a pub where he see’s Vass having a drink. The 2 of them get into a fist fight that gets them arrested, however while in lockup Jason’s entire family is murdered by the daughter of Hoyt (because representation) who now runs an empire twice the size of her fathers, she has fully taken control of Rook island and suppressed the rakyat to an underground resistance. Jason an Vass put their differences aside to work alongside each other to take down Hoyt’s daughter just for Vass to betray Jason by taking over the rakyat and Hoyt’s daughter’s empire.

One subtle detail I like, is how Jason operates guns throughout the game. The first guns have pretty standard reload animations, but towards the end of the game, new guns will have animations where he flamboyantly flips the magazine and such.

I like the theory that the south island is boring practically on purpose. You killed Vaas, the chaotic centerpiece of the islands. You are on your way to replace him as the apex predator, everything below you is dull and boring now, even the pirates are replaced with boring, disposable mooks. Only the mission keeps you going, only the thrill that will come when you kill the one guy above you in the food chain.

Whereas with this game, the second island being boring because you've beaten and become the epicenter of chaos makes sense. In the same way that only Hoyt was above Vaas, Hoyt is the only thing above you. Everything else is just food to play with, where you have to make your own fun out of your insanity and power as Vaas did. The only thing you have left to play with is your own mind, the only thing you have to fear or face is Hoyt. That's my theory anyway.
