As always great video. It's nice to see you so excited over this; I have a feeling we just saw what little Miranda was like on Christmas morning LOL! I've loved the idea of the Grymkin since PP first unveiled them, The story of the Defiers and their war against Menoth is fascinating, and I know there are going to be some epic Grymkin vs Protectorate throwdowns.

Love the faction, love the video! Thanks for showing the figures right out of the package to see how they did the design and how they fit together, I'm an engineering nerd and like to see that. Also liked that you played a game with them and were able to talk about how they worked for you. I think PP knocked it out of the park on this one.

I know a lot of people like to see how many pieces they have to put together, so that's why I try to show that. Seeing HOW they fit together is a cool unintended bonus I suppose. I know I like seeing how miniature companies design plastic sprues, so I guess I can understand that. I'm still really impressed with the Space Marine sprues from Space Hulk.

I still couldn't believe the Stormclad sprue connected to the face of his head right in the center. It was the biggest pain in the butt to get that clean and looking decent. Ugh. Not super impressed with the PP sprues so far, but hopefully their designs get a little better going forward as they have seemed to with Grymkin.

I really don't know anything about Hordes or War machine. I have one hordes model it's a Gnarlhorn Satyr which I purchased for conversion possibilities. This faction looks pretty cool! Seems like the Lore would be pretty cool as well. Those piggyback models made me kind of chuckle. Especially when I saw there actually piggybacking on another model.

I seem to remember that the Grymkin were the setting equivalent to Fair-folk, or more precisely the Dungeons and Dragons Fey. They are like old world fairy creatures though, not the sanitized tinkerbell fairies, but the old steal your child and replace it with a log. Enchant greedy man so that all he touches turns to gold then laugh as he starves to death, with only cold metal to keep him company because anyone who ever loved him was accidently turned to gold and no one will go near him out of fear. At least that is how I seem to remember them from the old Monsternomicon (the one written for D&D 3.5).

Great review! The lore is definitely intriguing; the Lantern Man story in NQ 73 was certainly compelling and the ergodic style of the Forces books looks like a fun read.

I've watched WarGamerGirl for years now... She is legit, if she didn't like Grymkin she would be honest about it... She even stated she was not to excited about them at first because thinking they were just another evil faction... I feel the fluff helped to change her mind regarding those feelings and I feel she also likes them because of the Old Witch one of Miranda's favorite Warcaster Character... One thing that does detour me from Grymkins is the fact P.P. no longer includes the cards with their models this has hurt me playing their game or purchasing new models... I realize they have War Room but not every one has it or wants to use War Room... If in a tournament situation and your tablet goes south and you have no cards you are disqualified. I and others would much rather have the cards in front of us to use then a tablet... And is much easier handing a person your card to see for them selves, if they have any questions regarding your model. I can only hope P.P. will some day reconsider this and institute the cards back into the purchase of their models. The other thing that concerns me regarding this faction is P.P. nerfing the crap out of it down the road... Sure it is amazing right now... Only until P.P. has made enough money off of it, then they will start nerfing it... One of the big things with P.P. is a lot of the player base no longer trust them... They have nerfed for some of us the factions we really enjoyed playing, using their common stand by phrase of wanting to bring balance to the game... Why they spent 5 years on MK 3 to release a balance game... Yet the game is still not balanced and never will be... Miranda, very much look forward to seeing your color scheme on your Grymkins and a Battle Report with you playing them. I have very much appreciated your battle reports through the years... They are the best out there, in my opinion.

Wow it's so cool that warmachine is getting big. I remember getting one as a kid but warhammer just has great lore so I've stuck with that. Would love to learn more about Hordes!

I took a break from Warmachine/Hordes once I went back to school for a new degree. Someone told me about the new faction and pointed me to the trailers. Already ordered this army box as well as the Death Knell and plan to get back into the game. This is definitely a faction that has my kind of model style.

I was salty about losing the Cards too but as time has gone on the printouts have proven to be pretty high quality and have worked great.

Great review of the Grymkin! Lots of great pictures. How do you find the Resin cast minis? Do they need a lot of mold-line cleaning up? Did they need any greenstuff patches? I'm most worried about the plastic being bent and unable to be straightened for the polearms. Definitely planning on picking these up as they will be useful both in WarmaHordes games and as Iron Kingdoms RPG NPCs.

The Grymkin starter box is definitely cool. I should clarify that the lore book did NOT come with it. Privateer just also happened to send that to me. That said, the lore is is a joy to read.

Yeah, you'll certainly want to get the battle engine. Not only does it look really cool, but it's like a really sturdy kriel stone. To me, it seems almost like an auto-include for Grymkin.

At this point it might as well be an auto include, with their heavy reliance on corpses and its corpse related abillities and distribution. Plus it's a fantastic looking model.

Just wanted to point out that these models have already gone through CID and that the rules on War Room are the final form and play as intended. Grymkin are extremely strong and probably one of the most internally balanced factions in the game as everything is designed with a purpose in mind. I would expect to see the same level of power from the new Theme Forces that come out.

A huge favor needed! Can someone provide a complete list of paints to paint this army the same PP has in their pictures. I have no paints and i am just now ordering this Grymkin box. What is a list of primarily P3 paints i will need/want. P3 paints for the colors, and anything you suggest for washes, inks, vanishing etc. thank you i know this isn't a simple request

So when I was cleaning out one of the closets in the spare room, I cam across a bag from a game store that I haven't been to since 2010 or so. Anyway, long story less long, in said bag I found a Khador Battlegroup Box that has Kommander Sorscha, a Juggernaut and Destroyer. I also found a Manhunter Solo, a Man-O-War Kovnik, The Butcher of Khardov, and a Mechanik Chief & Assistant blister pack, as well. All metal minis. Did I uncover a treasure or is none of this stuff viable?

These are all useful models. I would pull up the new cards from the Privateer Website so you know what the current rules for them are. Sorscha has always been a powerful caster, as well as the Butcher, and they came into MK3 staying strong. The rest of those models are all pretty useful too depending on how you play - and with the new encouragement for running 'jacks in MK3, the Mechaniks are very useful.

re: the army box. The price point is astonishing. The box is $200 for ~$300 worth of models. (263 w/o the Witchwood solo not listed on webpage or shop atm). Personally weighing style and looks over gaming substance, the Heretic miniature doesn't do it for me, I'd much rather build an army around the Child. And I'd have swapped out the Gorehound's boring design for a Rattler. I can't imagine anyone who'd wanna play this faction not wanting to include a Death Knell. The Trapperkin is a really nasty looking model as well. I rag on the Heretic and the Gorehound and my negativty ends there; all the models look brilliant and spooky(or in the pigs' case, hilarious) and curiously picking up the box set with every model I listed come sin at a surprisingly reasonable-sounding $360. Not as massive a commitment as filling up a new faction could be considering it's Wm/H.

Would I be right in saying that Warmachine / Hordes is the best Skirmish game out there ? better than Age of Sigmar / Malifaux ? or just 'different' ??? I shamefully have got all the Warmachine / Hordes latest edition starter sets for many factions and have not even opened up the rule books I got with them :(

I've played a lot of skirmish games (40k, Warhammer Fantasy, Malifaux) and I love the rules set for Warmachine / Hordes the best! In particular the ability to Slam, Throw, Trample, and Headbutt along with the Feats brings a more dynamic, and unpredictable game where tactics can be more varied and complex. Not just a battle of attrition like 40k.

Unfortunately the nature of CID means that will always be a risk. For that reason you gotta play because you like the faction more than the powerful combos in any given list. Hope that helps =)

This is the first and only package I have seen that does not include the stat cards. It's also the fifth PP product I purchased this week. This is billed as a quick easy way to get into Grymkin, but without the requisite stat cards it's little more than eye candy.
