So, We are currently playing the Iron Kingdoms Requiem RPG right now at our local game store. It's very similar to Eberron. I have a Warcaster (Warmage) , a Mekhanic (Artificer basically) , a Warlock who is a ranger meets druid and pet class) My players are trying to prevent a war between Khador and Cygnar. Cryx is actually not the real enemy in this one. Go figure. I love the game and my players love the mix of Arcane and Tech but it feels Victorian at times.

I remember when WotC/TSR rolled out Eberron (or whatever) as their steampunk fantasy setting 🙄 IKRPG was better from day one and I've played it ever since. Nice to see expansion of the game by the inclusion of SL. Systems come and go. I don't care because as the person running the game, I'm there for the story leaping out from setting and character choices. Looking forward to the minis as well. Will be interesting to see if they're compatible with my closet full of Cryx.

That's certainly the case with this issue. They typically fluctuate the ratio of AoS/40k/hobbying/other from issue to issue.

I'm sure an AOS player will correct me if I got this wrong (I'm still relatively on the fringe of it so I'm definitely not 100% clear on this lol), the Ruination Chamber is more...every time a Stormcast is reforged they lose a bit of their humanity (some hosts show it more than others admittedly), the Ruination Chamber are on the verge of basically ceasing to be human so the idea is *supposed to be* that they retire to basically a monastery for the rest of their "lives". Then the ratty boys cause the apocalypse and Sigmar's like "Well fuck, this is a situation where only the Ruination boys and girls can fight" (I'm aware that's super simplified and I've probably pissed off a fan or two, like I said, I'm still getting into it lol)
@WarGamerGirl
@WarGamerGirl 4 күн бұрын
Basically, all my AoS knowledge comes from reading WD =) Yes I think you're right in that the ruination chamber was a collection of Stormcast who were gonna, er..."retire" but they ended up being more resilient against the effect of the Skaven (I think) and so were sent off to fight some more.

@@WarGamerGirl I almost compared it to the Death Company, except the Blood Angels and their successors actively send them into battle so the comparison doesn't quite work lol. I haven't actually played AoS yet but reading (and indeed watching) Blacktalon got me into it

(Take my money!!!) Ok, 1. Honestly, no. I have never played. I've played D&D 5e and Pathfinder 1e, among other TTRPGs, so I have a decent idea what's what. However, my first Iron Kingdoms purchase was the Humble Bundle with all of the FMF & Unleashed books, all of the fiction novels and then Warmachine Prime MKIII & Hordes Primal MKIII. So, I was instantly immersed in a vast sea of content and I knew that I liked what I was reading. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that I was probably working toward being a DM, rather than a player, but I worked a lot of hours back then and had little mental capacity to store it, I had a hard time keeping up with No Quarter, so before I felt like I really had my head wrapped around it, it was gone the first time, and then Requiem was getting advertised. Then the new white website and then it was a whole new era. 2. I love the Strangelight stuff, I was really interested in it when it was in No Quarter Prime, but it was not even whole until that was over. 3. Favorite Grymkin, of course, is the old hag, Zevanna Agha, but I have to like the Dread Rots, because they embody the Halloween spirit 😆 Frightmares are kind of cool with the tiered mouths, kind of an Aliens vibe going on. 🤷‍♂️ (The swamp is my favorite, though). What's your favorite Grymkin?

As someone who played 2 and 3 and enjoyed the tourney scene, yeah screw PP. The FOTM crap in late 3rd then just making all my models obsolete in 4th... kick rocks a-holes. You get no more of my money, ever.

Hi! I'm glad that they asked you to do this video. I have PDFs from when I owned the D6 game, but I only have some Strangelight articles from No Quarter - but I guess I never bought Wicked Ways back then. I wish that PP or Steamforged would still make the older books available on Drivethru. Thanks for the preview!

I haven't played IKRPG - as such. I owned all of the books for the D6 system, but never got it to the table - and lost the physical books in a move. I miss them (though I still have the PDFs). I did adapt some stuff to a Fantasy AGE campaign that I was running that was in a steampunk-ish realm, but the campaign disbanded before I introduced Trollkin and other IKRPG lore😢

I feel like there are 2 different types of Grymkin, fae, and curse. Of the Fae, I love the GlimmerImp, It’s just so deranged a spooky. Of the Cursed, the Dread Rots. Both of them feel super rooted in folklore and I love that.

Getting set to GM the 2d6 system. One of the issues I have had with it is warjacks and warbeats converted directly over don't feel right with everything else in the system being significantly more durable than their wargame equivalents. I'm going to try out halving damage that oenetrates armor. I prefer the d20 version, though, as the monsters and warjacks worked properly, and the mechanika was actually more detailed, if memory serves. But I don't have reliable access to those books. A further shame as my Full Metal Fantasy rulebook is starting to fall apart. I will probably not grab this Kickstarter, but it's purely financial: I would if I could.

“It uses the D&D fifth edition rules” Ah there it is. My interest evaporating. That’s so unfortunate. The older 2d6 system was so much better. I know the D&D system is popular, but man I am so sick of everything using it. It’s not great :(

I have to agree with you there. I wanted to give it credit for potentially reaching a greater audience, but I'm not sure it ever really accomplished that goal. The 2d6 system felt more natural.

The Essence system is the same as in Requiem (archetypes in 2d6): Intellectual, Gifted, Mighty, Pious, Agile, and Blighted (in Nightmare Empire). It's not that obvious that's what is meant, especially given the different name for the system in the 2d6. And the questions: 1. Every edition since 2002! Longtime fan. 2. I'm excited for SW! Looking forward to a new way to interact with the Iron Kingdoms. 3. Gristle & Flay... from the old Monsternomicon. Unique entities, they're sentient muscles & organs (Gristle) & skin (Flay)... but missing their brother, Bone. The Grymkin faction Skin & Moans was roughly based on them but no updated version since d20.

Having played the 2D6 and Requiem system, I really miss the 2D6. My current group has been playing in the Requiem for about 2 years and my previous group played from the launch of the kickstarter. I love the idea where players are more focused on knowledge and gameplay rather than experience and gold. The minimal combat also brings a different dynamic to gameplay forcing players to really stretch their brains. As for my favorite Grymkin, that will always be a trapperkin. Not only is it an unpredictable threat, the doors open up new areas for players to explore.

To answer the last minute questions: IKRPG 2d6 is my favorite RPG today =] I play semi-regularly... Planning an IKRPG campaign as soon as I've finished painting my Skorne army =] To be honest, not very fond of that Strangelight Workshop. Seems nice for ghost stories, but I'm still enjoying militaristic campaings with lots of combat. I might give it a try if it works well as an expansion for IKR. My favorite Grymkin has to be the Glimmer Imp. Dude has such an mischievous face! Give me the chillss... Burrrrr
