YouTube is Getting Frustrating...

Not sure if a video like this is helpful for other people having the same kinds of trouble, or if it's just a way to vent my frustration. Maybe both?

The funny thing is you almost 100% have subjective opinions that would cause other people that aren't harming anybody to run into the same issues and you wouldn't care at all because of YOUR feelings. The second it happens to apply to you then you start caring but before that you either cheered on the censorship and power tripping or thought that it didn't matter and now when they came for you and there was nobody there for you now you care. This BS has literally been going on for years and years. The funny thing is you probably got reported by people that watch your content.

I've always been against censorship and the editorializing social media companies do while simultaneously claiming safe harbor from content. I don't like seeing people get unfairly targeted regardess of if I agree with their viewpoints. If anything, I've been overly cautious of sharing my opinions online, and this action by YT shows me that I don't have to do anything to become the target of their nonsense. No one reported the video. It was just caught in an algorithm, and instead of correcting the issue, YT doubled down.

Class action for what? It’s a private company. Anything they do is up to their discretion. They can delete whatever they want, whenever they want. Even if you don’t break their guidelines. I agree, dual-streaming on multiple platforms so it gets archived in multiple places in case yt decides you're on their 'list' is the best solution. Their competitors give you this opportunity so I say make use of it. You can't lose anything by streaming on multiple platforms at the same time, you can only gain a wider audience and remove yt's ability to obstruct your content. If they do it again you can just make a video linking people to the rumble archive'd version. Nullify yt's bad behavior. Been a fan of your content for years and your channel means the world to me. If KZbin somehow suddenly sees the same clip in several previous live streams, it could spell the end of her channel on the platform, despite how long they have been available to view. It won't matter if they are reported, AI discovered, or found via investigation of her channel output by an overzealous KZbin employee.

What's next, ban her acc because she has war in the name? Or maybe ban all her vids that have the WW2 bombs in the background (which is most of them)? It's not just new vids, they can do it retroactively, which is the craziest part. In my country, at least, you cant retroactively punish someone if the law changes, and there is 6 months grace period until the new rules are adopted. You can't just make up a rule and punish something that happened before.

KZbin is a private business with terms of service though, it's not part of the government. However, I this case the frustrating part is that their system and employees don't appear to be following their own company's guidelines.

Dealing with YT is insanely frustrating. I firmly believe they're using AI in their chat support and e-mail correspondence. No human beings could be so obtuse. I went back and forth with them for months over my channel not offering memberships as an option even though I had hit all the metrics.

Sorry to hear this. I don't understand KZbin AT ALL. I fail to understand why they insist on being rated G 6. A significant numbers of their users are adults. Yeh, youtube can be stupid dumb like this. Record your live streams to the hard drive as well. What I do is do the live stream and then take down the video, edit it into a normal video showing highlights and reupload. Not sure if it'll help in this case but at least you got a backup of the video.

I think this is the first time I've seen this channel, but I found all this info pretty convincing. KZbin is only good for advertising on other platforms where content is not strangled. It's sad that this was my first impression of the channel, but it is what it is. I look forward to seeing a book review in the future.

OBS allows you to save your stream to your computer and you can set it so it doesn't record music and other stuff that may cause copyright strikes if you uploaded it as a normal video. The big problem with big platforms is that they are moderated by AI, underpaid people in 3rd world countries, and actual staff members in youtube headquarters, and you really won't ever know who it was that made the decision and they don't have the time or manpower to look into all the problems they have...

I agree with you in that it's not being applied equally. I can and have watched plenty of streams with weapons (real or fake) in them. Finding another platform is difficult when KZbin is the defacto town square. Rumble is an option, but it caters itself to a niche audience, so expect less viewers. Keep your spirits up. KZbin is becoming a more and more creator unfriendly environment. My videos get dinged constantly for music violations all the time even though I have written permissions from the artists to use the music. Try to contact everyone about it and it's all 'well it's not our problem.' It's pathetic.

A channel I watch called "TheBlackPantsLegion" held an annual meet-up earlier this year were the members sung a parody cover song written by one of their members entitled "Hail Cargonia!". It is a cover of the John Denver song "Take Me Home, Country Roads", so the music is the same but because it uses completely different lyrics and is a parody would be it's own creative work and copywrite protected... but that video, which it was in, has had any revenue claimed. The sadist thing is the BPL has most if not all of their videos set up so that any money generated to go to fundraising organization like St. Judes, Toy's For Tots and Wounded Warriors. *edit - "Gun Cargo" is the song which got claimed and it was written by Goat of the BPL.

Did you know that if you create a piece of music and you don't register it as your own, and someone makes a video using your music first and registers the music, and then you use it on YT, you can get a copyright strike? Doesn't matter if you can prove that you made it, if it's not registered under your name. It happened to a lot of guys. YT execs only care about the money and to not upset the snowflakes that watch all the crap on their platform.

My good friend Mordian Glory had a similar issue- he picked up an airsoft gun to show someone in a stream- and it full on cut the stream. They originally threatened to kill his whole channel over it, but he managed to get them to 'only' ban him streaming for a week. Madness. They've certainly changed something recently- as theyve never been so dogmatic in the past...

This sucks, I'm sorry this happened. Rumble is a tough place to be associated with too. Their top categories are right wing politics (I'm not taking a shot at moderate conservatives, I have many great conversations with moderates.) and conspiracy videos... ugh. I can imagine the frustration of putting in all that work and hoping for a paycheck at the end of that work to have it denied. I am sorry there are not great viable alternatives.

For a while now I have seen this slow slide down this slippery slope and I have had some real internal conflict over this situation. First, KZbin is a tremendous resource for information. One channel instantly springs to mind Stumpy Nubs who produces these amazing videos on wood working that have saved me literally hundreds of hours of time. I watch MORE KZbin than I do television at this point to learn. The other side of this is that KZbin has become INCREASINGLY hostile to content creators that reside in niches that THEY do not like, GAWDS forbid you make content on historical weapons (i.e. swords, spears, and such) because they will shadow ban you faster than you can say "Alphabet sucks!". I have been wanting to start producing content for my channel (which has been dark for years now) but how do I justify putting up content to this site that actively censors creators that they disagree with!

Can't say one way or another but, honestly, I have no reason to believe that any humans, beyond yourself, were actually involved with any of this. LLM AI exists for a reason and this is one of the very specific reasons they exist at all: replace human help. Keep in mind that unempowered and/or disinterested humans aren't any better than rigid AI doing rigid AI things they were configured to do so the AI angle, I guess, is probably irrelevant except to the extent that as a human on the other end we have no way of knowing whether this is AI we're talking with, or not, because there is no requirement (that I am aware of, anyway) that AI be identified as such. No great answer here other than my sympathies and continuing belief that I'll probably not be watching KZbin at all within the end of the next year for reasons such as this and many others.

Also, I get the feeling that they dont really review footage after an action has been taken, but instead just stick to the decision. Try being a 2a supporter, hunting channel, firearms review or even commenting on a news story involving any type of violence. Totally ok for legacy news to do any of this though. In fact, try to comment any criticism of protected topics and YT will ghost the comment so only you see it, or they will completely remove it regardless of how accurate it is. I am hoping Rumble or another platform eventually breaks the monopoly YT has on creators. Then again I've been waiting for that for five years.

Eh, I kinda get it. Showing pre-recorded firearms on a live stream when the rule is no firearms on a live stream is still against the spirit of the rules. If they allowed pre-recorded firearms, everyone would just appeal saying it wasn't actually live. Then someone will think they are being smart and delay a live recording by 30 seconds and then they can argue they weren't "live". Best bet is to just not show any firearms on a live stream.

I didn't show any firearms on stream, nor any other video I've made. And if the spirit of the rules means nothing that *looks* like a firearm (which is NOT stated in their rules), then why aren't channels who live stream movie trailer reactions (like Deadpool 2) not getting hit? The point of an appeal is to have someone look at it and determine if someone is trying to be smart and argue that 30 sec delay you suggested, but the staff could clearly see I did not have a firearm and ruled against me anyway. Plus, the spirit of the rule (from everything I've read through) is to prevent YT from being used to learn how to alter real firearms in a way that makes them illegal, get around firearm laws, and sell firearms. This is just algorithmic overreach and YT failing to correct itself.

Ugh! This is no doubt politically motivated, as the 2024 Elections approach! KZbin wants to present itself as the Arbiters of all that is good and right! Totally missed the mark on this call!
