Why would the imperium be unhappy with fornication? I was under the impression that even though the emperor was "all encompasing" of every religon. But My thought was it had been over 10,000 years since emperor worship had been implemnted. And at that point people need to be breeding to fill imperial guard quotas.

As with priests staying fit, that's their particular obsession, not a Ministorum-wide one, and probably has its origins in the particular circumstances under which it developed.

This short story was basically an infomercial for the old Inquisitor "RPG" that came out in the early 2000's That's why it seems so odd the other 40k stories. They were trying to segue into world building, like literal worlds

Nothing to do with this story but thanks for your Audio Book Suggestions. I just finished the Great Work with Belisarius Cawl, really great stuff and made it much easier to accept Primaris Marine lore. Also Cawl really is written well and reminds me of a cool old Grandpa whose seen and experienced terrible things but still can crack a joke, even if he’s the only one whose laughing.
