I like the way Gabriel talks about Isador. He's both hurt but also clearly doesn't consider him alive anymore-the traitor he's about to kill has nothing to do with him.

I love how quietly Isador dies in this. Sure, his death sounds vary, but it seems so much more powerful with just.. a small exhale of the lungs. As if he was resigned to his fate.

Have you noticed traitor Isador's model, his golden armor decorating him is darker, his bolt pistol matches the Alpha Leigon, and the books on his force weapon and right shoulder have an X mark written.

whoaa this mission was a pain in the ass. i had to progress slowly.and when i had 50% of the map when that red demon attacked my base i forced to send troops home... but before i could get there the demon had destroyed all my turrents, all my generators, my armory och my stronghold. plus that the ememy very quick took back all the land i had won. i had to send all my troops and slowly rebuild my base. it looked bleak but somehow i manage to pull mysylf together and complete the mission

When I played the campaign mod in SoulStorm, of this campaign, the Blood Thirster was already attacking my base before I could mobilize my forces to destroy the two satellite camps defending the traitor.

Sometimes, the hardest thing to do is follow through with a belief and stay committed to it. This is a lesson Gabriel had to do and he is stronger from it.

Well, that spoiled the ending moment a bit! Angelos forced to execute his former friend turned heretic. And what music plays as they do it? The Eldar's theme music!

why did you build Land Raiders instead of predarors?
@redalert2havoc6 жыл бұрын
well they are the space marines relic unit, tough to destroy and has the machine spirit ability that make its immune to damage for a while.
@Galimah6 жыл бұрын
but they dont dish out as much dps as predators?
@redalert2havoc6 жыл бұрын
I believe so, but since it is the relic unit and you can only built one of them, i went ahead and got it. They have much more health/armour so it will last longer in battle. It is pretty much a armoured transport, but I don't really use the transport ability for it.

R u going to do soulstorm?
@redalert2havoc9 жыл бұрын
Killian de Rego Yes, that's the plan anyways, its just takes a while to get it going since i'm only doing the 'stronghold' missions, while conquering every other territory on the map first before recording the stronghold missions. This is taking longer than dark crusade to prepare, since you don't get to keep all the buildings and captured points on a map after conquering a territory, unlike dark crusade. So defence missions are a pain and the planetary resources you get are pretty low to purchase honor guards and defence reinforcements. I've never had to purchase defence reinforcements in dark crusade because you get to keep all the buildings and captured points after conquering each map. Space marines soulstorm playthrough should be out first and is currently being worked on.

This mission's ending always pissed me off. Gabriel clearly hasn't learned anything, and instead of coming to terms with his crimes, he instead chooses to believe they were justified. In the lore, Cyrene wasn't even Chaos infested, it was just practicing democracy and giving psykers basic human rights. Instead of there being any reflection on the Empire's unforgivably evil actions the game effectively takes the fascist's side here by declaring it was necessary to save mankind.
@xFlared4 жыл бұрын
Damn I had no idea. So Gabriel committed planetary genocide knowing that there was no infestation? Doesn't make sense considering his honor.
@guyofminimalimportance74 жыл бұрын
@Admiral Ackbar You can look it up on the wiki, it's all there. Maybe that specific aspect of it was introduced in a later produced piece of media, but as it stands currently There's no justifying his actions. As far as his honor goes, it does make sense to an extent, when you consider that he is fully committed to The Imperium and it's beliefs. He's been brainwashed to think Democracy is just as evil as chaos, so he treated it as such. When someone is writing a story in the 40k universe, they really can't act like the Imperium are the obvious good guys like this game did, in truth they're only "good" because of how evil most other factions are.

@@guyofminimalimportance7 I'm not sure for a fact but I think it was all added after the fact in the C.S. Goto books. and those got a poor reception and their claims of 'canon' can be argued. for example, read the 1d4chan page about him. lots of quotes from his dawn of war books that go against the rest of the 40k canon. 1d4chan.org/wiki/C.S._Goto. Plus given that dawn of war 2 has chaos marines using Cyrene as their base of operations suggests real nefarious occurrences there instead of just practicing democracy
@VulgarGnome4 жыл бұрын
@@guyofminimalimportance7 also the imperium acts as a federation of planets. most of the planets (except for shinres worlds and forge worlds and a few critically important worlds) are free to govern themselves so long as they pay fealty and tithe to the greater imperium/emperor. Lots of planets and nations therein that practice democracy.
@guyofminimalimportance74 жыл бұрын
@@VulgarGnome Maybe it's just modern retcons (I'm a relative newcomer to the franchise; only getting into it in the last few years.) But whenever I look up the Imperium's government structures it doesn't look like they have any tolerance of democracy. The wiki does say that a lot of their worlds are self governed as a sort of galactic feudalism; but it also details how many of those feudal worlds are corrupt and run exclusively by the upper class; going on to describe that in general Democratic movements in the Imperium are still considered heretical. Given the inconsistencies you brought up between the books and the games it wouldn't surprise me if the democracy part of Cyrene's destruction was added in later; although I still don't necessarily agree with the preexisting stance that it was justified simply because there was Chaos there. I think a topic like that can never be fully justified; just debated over how much of a moral grey it was.
