They usually act like they are fans of the IP but then start demanding their RL politics be implemented into the setting, aka. stuff like female marines, or gay primarchs for representation and diversity and inclusion or to make the entire setting more progressive and positive as a whole. And i wish i was kidding but thats how this nonsense has been going on not only with 40k but also with battletech and allready has mostly destroyed Dungeons and Dragons (orcs are just fantasy mexicans and are actually not an evil race/culture but just misunderstood yada yada).

I had my first Warhammer game ever last night, after spectating a Spearhead match I decided to join in. My rats got demolished, and I had to leave at the end of turn 3, so I conceded, but man this game is so fun and the first interaction I had was incredible. Finally. Got through the end. Discourse is probably the worst of the anti-shills. Clickbait title, rambles before getting to her point, and often generates outrage over something that will be fixed. (She’ll complain about Astorath being in the box set, yes. But almost always leaves out that if you wait 3-6 months, it will be out on its own.) I could also leave her terrible politics at the door, but she doesn’t push them full tilt and tends to make jokes about it, and she seems alright during livestreams with others. The biggest problem with shills is not mentioning GW’s biggest negative: The Rent is too goddamn high. I have a similar issue with the 3D Printer Community about not talking Resin/fume safety. You’re so focused on the positives, you refuse to bring up CRITICAL negatives. I’ll say, thankfully, most aren’t Sunshine Pumpers: People who refuse to say anything negative to the point they harass anyone who brings up anything negative that needs a change. Shills are doing it to make a dollar and won’t argue with you. Sunshine Pumpers will actively tell you you’re the reason the hobby isn’t growing.

@@bryanvestal3923 Free advertising. GW is no different than any other company who gives content creators free stuff in exchange for said creator using said product on stream. Receipts for what? Tabletop Tactics and Tabletop Titans aren't receiving enough free product that LGS's are being deprived of products for preorder. If you count every 40k gaming channel on YT that is large enough to receive free products (and only the largest of them do) it's about a dozen channels tops. If GW is intentionally not creating enough product to meet demand to intentionally prey on FOMO mindset they aren't underproducing by a dozen. Pretty fucking obvious. I like that the big 40k streams get free products 2 weeks in advance. This weekend millions of people will get to see Imperial Agents debut, get to see games played with them, and will know every rule, datasheet and stratagem for all 4 detachments. If you don't want spoilers don't watch. I'm glad I don't have to wait until the day of release to see the new codex.

I find there are a lot of KZbinrs who only review GW figures now, and don’t mention playing the game ‘at all’. And for the most part, GW is doing a good job at turning out awesome minis (with the odd flop). I don’t see many channels saying how good the game is, because, let’s be frank, most people think the game sucks balls! There’s been a rise in the 2nd Ed community that I follow a lot, for the nostalgia. Horus Heresy is an ok system, and I hear good things about AoS. But 40k is a rotting corpse of a game, IMO. The problem is, 40k fans love the hobby too, so even though the game is dying, a lot of people are switching over to hobbying only, which masks the smell of decay from the powers at GW, because the money keeps rolling in. I do envision a nose dive at some point, once newer fans fall out of the hobby, when the game dies. The business model and fate of GW seems to be mirroring Magic the Gathering at the moment. WotC (Magic’s owners) have been choking Magic player’s with new content and subtly undermining old collectors collections, for the last 4 years, and old Magic fans have been dropping out of the game for a while. KZbin content creators have been driving their revenue through the roof though, so WotC doesn’t give a s*** that their market is slowly rotting. Just like GW. It’s fascinating to watch, but it also saddens me that the soul of both games has died. I mean, WTF is GW doing with the Indomitus storyline? Every time there’s a new release, it’s not new units and technology, designed by Cawl. It’s just bigger versions of old units, which is probably what they should have done in the first place!

@@fateweaver9844 Fair point TBH. Might be more of a personal feeling, than reality. GW is thriving, because they make amazing models. But the game just seems to be more mechanical and less fun IMO. But the game was very different when I started playing. The extreme comments are just an extension of the passion for the game and how much time we have sunk into it. I don’t have any qualification to say that “the game is dying”, but for me it is dead in its current form. I’ve played Heresy though, and enjoyed that. It has its flaws though. As do we all.

I once sent a request for suggestions to a 40k podcast (won't mention who) just before 10th ed was released. With 15 40K armies I was getting fed up with having to purchase 15 new codexes every 3-4 years. I asked the podcast what they would suggest - such as maybe only concentrating on just a few armies, selling, maybe websites that could assist. The answer I got, and it is actually in their podcast was "well we get sent stuff from GW to review so maybe you should start a 40K podcast". So disappointed.

I don't tend to watch any specific YTers for the game / hobby element aside from Auspex and Poorhammer. I woukdn't consider either of them shills. It's actually strange seeing how the comments on AT's channel have changed over the last year or so. When i started watching him they were all hype and excitement over releases - these days they're much less enthusiastic, to out it mildly. Otherwise it's all loretubers. I find Isyander & Koda entertaining as background when I'm working. Sandman of Terra has possibly the most relaxing voice ever, and i listen to him a lot when painting. The point OC made about the 20:00 mark about people being so invested in the hobby that they perceive criticism of GW as a personal attack is valid. I know a few people like that who will defend anything GW does, and tie themselves in knots doing so. I don't criticise them "just because" and if they ever do something good, i'll say so. They just make criticism so easy...

Would be interesting to see what games are actually played. I play 40k, offcourse i do, but i play 5ed. I play horus heresy, but i play 1ed. When i play fantasy, i play mostly 6ed. Played warmachine 2ed. Been painting up alot of A song of ice and fire miniatures. tried but did not like "F28 war always changes". Star Wars Armada seems to be discontinued. So start a new army, when i dont even play the current edition seems dumb to me. Think i will get the last model that i want for an army, then sit down and start painting up my pile of shame. But judging by the price of the Adepta Sororitas Exorcist, i might need next years hobby budget for that.

Here's one of mine biggest "are you shiting me" moments. The new terminators. Don't get me wrong, they look good, however, they are basicaly a rescaled version of already existing models and it took ages for GW to just do that and they barely made unique upgrades to them. It pisses me off, that such greedy company, is afraid to make art about its universe, that isn't from an existing model, yet, takes decades to make the most basic models from their brand. EVEN WORSE! They go after people, for making models they didn't made! I was looking for those stupid special boxes for Salamanders and Imperial Fists, to see what that was all about and GUESS WHAT?! THE ONLY NEW THING ABOUT THEM, WAS THE FUCKING BOX ART/DESIGN!!! THE MODELS DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING UNIQUE ABOUT THEM!!!

Great video Gents! I am a Lore person myself and much of what you have talked about today (that and I don't think I am a good painter, but I could at least get over that and learn) The thing that drives me crazy is, as Outer Circle said, when someone pisses on my head and tells me it's raining. Shills are 100% everywhere, look at Disney Star Wars and Marvel just for a start. At least with a movie or TV show the cost outlay is minimal I agree with Games Workshop shills are much more destructive to the hobby. GW's tactics are anti-consumer and predatory and it's a real turn off for me. Does not change how much I love the lore or the stories, but it will keep me out of the hobby for sure.

Sorry to veer off the path... Talking about useless purchases. The Combat patrol boxes. They are now being made with multi part kits but the data cards are set with only one Loadout for the weapons . I was looking at the new Adepta Sororitas combat patrol .. I thought Yep, I can bolster my army but then I finally brought the new codex and saw that the Celestian Sacresants are armed with the Hallowed mace only ...and no other load out. This will also be the same with the Imperial Agents Combat Patrol box.

Until they get as large as GW. Do you honestly think if Corvus Belli got to be as massive as Games Workshop that they would still keep treating their customers the same? If you do I have ocean front property in Minnesota to sell you. GW has excellent customer service. Or used to. Haven't used it in years but I remember in the past having a deformed part on a sprue and getting either the entire sprue or an entirely new model (had that happen when the plastic LR first released in 3rd edition).

We tried the blunt "you're messing up this way" route. Didn't work. There isn't money in farming, if you're into that, so it's hardly a cottage industry, hell, I've had nothing nice to say so I've done maybe two videos in the last month because creating content for content's sake just isn't a thing for me.

I'm pretty sure the moment you posted videos about a different war game or something that is not your usual content your views would drop and you would get no engagement. Sure you're not making a lot of money about this people thrive off of getting engagement and building their own echo chambers. Look at a lot of other content creators like discourse miniatures and gamza who are built on just whining about whatever GW does this week. It's useless to steer this ship in a better direction when you have no say or stake in the business other than your own emotions and time. It would be better to form a community addition that has no effect from GW. Necromunda has a living community edition rulebook for people to play for free and has a website to support it.
