I like my Company heroes in a tuxedo T-shirt because it says I want to be formal, but I'm here to party. No, but seriously, one of my favorite combos is Company Heroes with Capt. Sicarius and a Lieutenant... in an Impulsor. Sicarius gives everyone scouts, so the impulsor can scout, then it can advance, they can jump out, put a mountain of OC on an obj, AND they can reactive move with Sicarius, so, get back in the impulsor, or move back and prep for charge. LT buffs their shooting and melee a bit, Capt buffs both a bit. Makes them a sort of jack of all trades, super solid utility unit. Also with lethals and fall back and charge with LT. With Sicarius and an LT, you end up with nearly as many attacks as a squad of BGV, but, they all hit on 2s, so it shakes out to about the same. Plus the added benefit of some shooting and 4 wound models. Edit: Just got to the Sicarius part... guess I should have watched the rest of the video before commenting lol

My favorite was Tycho, giving assault to whole squad in BA detachment allows them to move up board very quickly. And to gives there insane number of attacks some meaning you bring lieutenant for lethal hits

Love my company heroes. When I first got the codex and the kit they immediately started with Vulkan Hestan. His main benefit of selecting a target wound rerolls for torrent and melta weapons is great hopping out of a redeemer (usually like running at least 2 redeemers and a 10man infernus squad) to flame and melta stuff. Vulkan loves having bodyguards when sitting on a selected objective. This is particularly nice on layouts that let him stand on a side midfield objective while getting los on the center to let your redeemers reroll flamer wounds against targets on the center Weirdly I really liked Calgar in my last tournament in a teams format with company heroes. I ran SM Ironstorm who really loves his extra CP and a spare brawler against the natural expansion midfield objective who is -1 to wound, 2+ 4++. It lets me deathball the rest of my vehicles to hold that “magic triangle “ of objectives with infiltrators on my home objective.

I was about to add this same comment, their cost to wound count makes them great bodyguards. He'stan is my go too pick as well. Just park him on the center objective surrounded by flamers/meltas and dare them to take it. Great fun!

Though if you're facing an opponent who can't throw a ton of OC out there, and if Vulkan Hestan can peak a second objective from the one he's on, try it since he is way too much OC to often be worth sending anything cheap to skirmish. At 195 that package generally gives great utility to a redeemer / infernus spam list. Bring a couple scouts and an infiltrators squad for objectives and then spend the remaining 1500pts on redeemers, infernus, and inceptors. Quite fun in Firestorm to let you adv and shoot str 7 rerolling redeemer flamers

I picked up this unit as a cheap way to get ancient, blade guard lieutenant (magnetised shield to backpack), captain, lieutenant. But now planning on using them with calgar or just a captain and going in impulsor to hold a mid board objective.

Having these guys hold down the on side objective seems like a legit idea. Azrael gives his 4+ invuln to their -1 would and 4 wounds each would be obnoxious to dig through. Maybe an expensive wrapper but Azrael needs to be standing out in the open somewhere.

@@timocode2069nah he can’t at the moment rules as written unfortunately. They FAQ’d it that he could a few balance dataslate ago but then the codex disallowed it and they haven’t allowed it again since. It’s arguable that maybe they want the ICCs to fill that role now.

I've tried both Cato Sicarius, and Calgar on the heroes. With Sicarius I had them in an impulsor, and moved them up quickly to sit on an objective, it worked very well.

I used the captain model to make a count as Uriel Ventris because that’s the only way I can deep strike gravis armor (they should be able to go in drop pods)

I think they are best in a Blood Angels Detachment. First and foremost +1 atks and S+2 is goming to make even the CCW something to be scared of. They also have a pretty legit stratagem Red Rampage for Lethal & Lance. I would like to say the best option is the Relic Shield Capt (because it has more atks than the Powerfist) because S7 + Lance you should be wounding 95% of all infantry on 2+ plus the once per game +3 atks and Devastating wounds. But i think another good option is Gabriel Seth. Advance and Charge is also good, however i dont think Seth is a Tacticus model so good luck for transportation (drop pod or land raider?)

My favorite was before vect update a Watch master with the tomb of ectoclades, ( gives you reroll to wound on oath for whole army once per battle). So he would be protected by the company heroes and give a vect plus a better oath once per game.

Auto 6 the Heavy Bolter, I don't think you get the Sustain 2 from that enhancement. It's a modified 6 and not an unmodified 6 to hit.

So I think im gonna try company heroes with a generic captain and I'm vanguard spearhead. -1 to hit, -1 to wound, +1 to the save (being shot outside of 12) use the free strat to sabotage the home objective, then guerilla tactics them out to strat reserve and walk in a table edge for secondaries ect

Company heroes is great in ultramarines too. Easy unit to attach ventris to and he’s giving something else deep strike. Marneus calgar is pretty efficient in this unit as well, they have all gladius doctrines built in at once, plus the victrix give them limited invuln and -1 to wound. The victrix and the company champion combine have 16 power sword attacks hitting on 2’s. Calgar adds 6 str8 powerfists and an additional 15 close combat attacks too. The shooting isn’t really the unit’s strength but its ability to take damage and be a distraction.

Honestly I like the company champion and wish that he was also a character option like the legends “company champion on bike”. +1 on advance and charge and a free heroic intervention would be cool if he could go into a blade guard squad, and he could be an alternate to the lieutenant, giving the blade guard an option to be more defensive or counter character unit

I love the concept, the models, and the rules are decent - BUT what makes me sad is that we get the : Combat hero = amazing Banner = amazing BUT we get the shooters - I'd have loved seeing more of a 'command squad' feel with an Apothecary type hero in there, as then along with the Captain and or Lieutenant, it would have a great feel/vibe that ties in with command squads of old

What i WAS doing, was running Vulcan in the heroes. A big unit of infernus marines with a captain for the THEN 0 Cp strat close by. Ive done this since pariah and its ok. But now im eyeballing sticking Adrax in the heroes.

I never run company heroes. They're just a bit too expensive and dont really have a good use, imo. Theyre 95 pts, when you attach Calgar or Vulkan, theyre close to 200 pts expensive. That's basically a redemptor dread right there. Id rather have a dread then T4 dudes with mediocre dmg output.

Yup it’s the perfect combo imo. They become very dangerous in Melee if you give them Lance. It’s just feels wrong putting Calgar with Eradicators, he wants to be in combat

@@level9Lab you only want Calgar for combat and they get them there whilst dishing some out. Calgar and aggressors is such a point investment that it’s debilitating if you lose them. Separate the two units and get two strong threats across the board

Hm, I kinda disagree, which is fine. I just think aggressors (bladeguard and eradicators as well) are fantastic units. If you add calgar to that, it makes them even better. Put a LT or a biologis in and Lethal hits will melt anything. Company heroes are so middle of the road, attaching calgar to it makes them okay, but that's basically it. A little bit of a waste for all of calgars abilities imo.

I made a "Units I never Take" Black Templars (Rightous Crusaders) 2000pt list and I paired a Marshall (Captain) with a Company of Heros and honestly worked very well in the home objective & was critical in my Win that day.

I've done that as well. The captain can give them Crusaders' wrath for 0 CP and then the combat weapons on the shooty guys have -1 AP and four attacks, before you get to the chamption and the marshall. I cleared out hordes of termagaunts with the unit (they came back later, but that's another story).

Sicarius and heros do make a great harassment unit but it's finding a balance in when using them. Vanguard spearhead works well and you can stay out of range and capitalize on the -1 to hit. Fire storm is great when you need a +1 to hit and battle shock. But i find sicarius does better with bigger units hoping in and out of transports. it even better is it an aircraft stormraven.

Yes, they can go in a drop pod and are the only way you can get a captain attached to a unit in one without having to sacrifice a model from the unit. I've used this to drop a heroes squad and 5man team - like internus or devastators, for solid board control.

Does "forged in fire" work with crits now? Have not played since spring, so not sure about all the updates this summer. But I am pretty sure that forged in fire changes a roll to a 6, meaning it is an modifier, meaning it is not a critical hit. Vulkan Hestan was nice with Company Heroes. Less good now as Faf can no longer use 2 immolation protocols

If one add a leutenant with mcpw to Khans company heroes, it is possible to achieve 17 precision lance attacks for 1 cp. I wonder if it is enough to Ghazkul for example.

Uriel Ventris likes these guys a lot. They transform him from a character you bring to use a cool ability, into a midfield bully unit that becomes difficult to shift for under 200 points. I’d take them over Bladeguard any day.

I played one of my Daemon lists, Great unclean One, Lord of change and Be'lakor (I just painted him so it was his first time) and a bunch of other smaller units, screamers flamers plague bearers for objective holding and move block. I played against Space Marines, Custodes (why are they so durable) and the Orks with 3x10 man squads of lootas and shock attack guns. It was a great day!

I like the look of the unit. However, mechanically they don't feel good enough. Probably would have been more fun if they behaved like a character extender like how an ancient or lieutenant behaves. Example: Captain, Company Heros, Bladeguard Captain, Company Heros, Sternguard Could limit them to only joining minimum count squads or only veteran status units. This would make them feel a bit better.

Ive had great success with a general captain with the Blade Driven Deep from the Raven Guard detachment. Infiltrating onto an objective they are good bullies. Captains -1CP allows for AOC of course. But the Raven strategms are great; a free fall back d6" when charged, give the whole unit percision for 1 cp (with captain devestating wounds ability), and a pick up and redeploy are great!

I love them in Dark Angels gladius with the cpt. I also run 2x5 dwk and 2x6 ICC + 2 Judy and then plop 1 of each on either sides of the board. I leave the aggressor fire discipline brick behind and then put the company heroes into the middle as bait and pop tactical doctrine turn one so I can squad tactics turn 1 for the full 6". Works almost like cheating haha

I use mine as a home for Uriel Ventris, it's not the optimum choice but with him the melee punch isn't to be sniffed at. The standard melee is 15 attacks off of 3 models! Plus the champion and Ventris take that to 27. If you give them honour the chapter that's not bad punch at all for 5 models. I've been tempted to put a lieutenant in the mix to give them lethal hits but always seems like too much points investment. Mostly use this unit to smack and hold a midfield objective. It's also not bad as bait, as my opponent has to commit some investment to removing them. So I run a bladeguard unit with a Judiciar and put the deepstrike from Ventris onto it. Then I can rapid ingress and set up a possible heroic intervention with the unit, having fights first from the Judiciar.

I like this kit. I used the ancient, converted 3 into bladeguard w 3rd party shields, and kitbashed the captain into an apothecary. They otherwise completely suck imo. Can only attach a captain, and you cant equip them how you want, too many points for what they do.

100% agree. It's a shame because the models are super cool and the unit is fluffy as hell. They're in the same category as Sternguard imo as far as usefulness goes.

@@chrisprime7767 i think the sternguard are great if you avoid the combiweapons. My biggest problem there is the limitations on apothecaries and ancients, which should be able to both join the same unit, and should be able to join units with librarians and chaplains. Obviously the choice for sternguard is the librarian in a 10m with 2 heavy bolters, but really... should be able to also attach an ancient and an apothecary.
