I was the "extremely lucky" guy a few days ago. Some dude was insulting mine and my friends paint jobs (we're not great but we do it for fun) and I had some boyz who needed a 12 charge to get to his gun line. (Context, he tried an all havocs list so Melee would fuck him up. He also tried to give his Chaos Lord a Lascannon). Guess who rolled double six's? Guess who's Warboss took down his Dreadnought on the first turn of fighting? Guess who's Nob killed his chaos Lord without taking a wound? Guess who had the most satisfying victory in fucking history? This guy!

Dylan F I actually faced that same guy again a few days ago. His guard vs my Craftworlds and he (continently) forgot his Codex. His whole strategy relied on hiding a Primaris psyker behind some bullgryns. My army was mostly snipers so turn one I fire a ten man squad at him. So he turns one of the Bullgryns and says I can’t draw line of sight. I say yknow what fine, it’s cool. In that same game I had Dire Avengers teleport behind his lines and gut that Psyker, then they manage to fight and BEAT the Bullgryns in Melee (had an Autarch nearby) AND managed to use the snipers to cause 5 mortal wounds to an Imperial Knight in one round of shooting with one unit of snipers. I think my “lucky guy” reputation is gaining more credibility. But seriously never make fun of someone’s paint. It’s not easy, and not everyone gets the hang of it for months or even years. No one started good and unless they ask for criticisms don’t give anything other than compliments

Bleached Raptor I too had luck like that: was facing necrons. They had a monolith a stalker and all that nonsense. I had my guardsman do a suicide charge against it I took no casualties in the charge and my guardsman punched it to death. In that entire game I lost 2 guardsman and 2 terminators. Btw I absolutely dominated

Actually, I used empty coffee cans for drop pods, while the store was out of stock, and I wanted to battle. Nearly the same, which i shared with opponet : real drop pod models and coffee can extra for the 1 fight. The can was actually wider in center round, but smaller than full fin diameter.

yea that's what i do, proxying a couple units, cos a) models are expensive and i as a high school student do not have a job yet, b) Eldar models haven't been updated in 20-odd years so I have no desire to jump up and go buy a bunch of resin or metal models that might be getting updates soon (that's the hope!) and c) I "have" a smaller army to begin with so if i want to play games with my friends I need all of my planned units

Goldfish I wasn't even trying to make a super over powered list, I just made a decently competitive one but it ended up being REALLY strong. Like medium tournament level. I had a lascannon vehicle (predator, 3 razorbacks)/hellblaster death star with my gulliman for his buffs and to prevent assaults, a stormtalon roaming around shooting things, aggressors to hold an objective, two librarians, a captain, a primaris ancient and obviously the tactical marines inside the razorbacks. Was going to bring more hellblasters/ devastator marines in lieu of some of the less powerful units like aggressors, but figured that would be kind of gross.

I think the fact that you obviously tried to make it more fair does have value. Don't worry I'm not judging you, the people who annoy me generally have a complete disregard for the way their playstyle makes the opponent feel and that's a bigger problem, it's not necessarily the fact that you beat someone super bad so much as the attitude you have when you do that matters.

Some of the Cards were if you have models available roll off and whoever wins the roll off gets a unit? I would of hated to encounter the person who if they won they roll of they get to use the unit but if they lost they wouldn't let their opponent use their models for the unit.

The Emperor of Mankind Yea, I've often felt like the out of place geek that goes against every bad stereotype out there. But they exist for a reason, as my own personal experiences can attest. Was a jock in high school and was basically a "closet geek" on the weekends lol. Had plenty of girlfriends or attention from girls, and was definitely "active" if you get my drift. When going to tournaments for MTG or any other games, I often feel like a black sheep for various reasons as I'm also pretty conservative politically and I don't go out of my way to come across as socially awkward. I play with a guy that is basically an offender for every one of these. Proxying an entire army at once. Borrowing the templates, rulebooks, usually your scatter dice. Taking 15 minutes to check his codex for stuff. Never gets his scatter right. And blasts you off the table almost every game, rarely using his own miniatures.

This applies to most hobbies in the nerd sector. I run into a lot of these types (modified of course) for my D&D groups. The borrower is huge, although for things like dice and rule books is not much of an issue. But the guy that doesn't know anything when he thinks he knows everything is very common.

I'd instantly forget what these units were supposed to be. If you wanna do that, I recommend making paper cutouts with photos/graphics of appropriate units, and about the same size- that way you show you lack money rather than effort, and nobody's gonna be confused with what you're using. I never played tho, It's just something I thought of as a good solution, since I've seen it done in D&D game I've played.

back when I'd play those god damn movement guys seemed to be EVERYWHERE. games ground to screatching halts over minute quibbles. eventually I invented a piece of wood that was exactly 6 inches long to speed things up. geuss what had to be measured before every game an every time it was my turn. just in case my peice of 6 inch piece of almighty plywood magicly grew any since enemy movement

@@dd11111 therese also the "line of sight guy" so we jsut had a house rule that if you wanna place something out of it from a certain squad you both look until its okay and then stay with it so that the next turn without moving he cant say "oh yeah i see that head of yours so im gonna shoot that squad"

One guy I used to play with back in 40k 2nd edition, would move his furthest forward marine 4", then move the guy that was 2" behind him so that he was 2" in front of him, and so on until he had moved the whole squad of 10 marines. His argument was that it's ok as long as the marines stayed within 2" of each other. We also used to play out in the garden during the summer. We played one game out on my patio and I'd killed his Predator. It blew the turret off. When he rolled for the scatter he rolled the dice on one side of him, very carefully measured the distance and direction, then rotated his body so he could measure from the predator turret. I made him re-do his measurement about 3 times because he didn't understand that by rotating his body he's also rotating the scatter direction. If he'd measured it properly his predator turret would have landed right on top of his landspeeder and I think he might have killed himself. I used to let him off of these things because after about the first 3 months of playing I bought a Whirlwind and from that point on I beat him every time we played.

The terminator Proxy is highly acceptable, for lack of any better words. They are terminators. I mean, I asked the vast majority of regulars at GW Dublin, and my Iron hands honour guard are two converted Morlock Tartaros terminators on 32mm's. I just never bring them AND any other terminator models on the board. Besides, at least the food proxy equipment was kept in continuity xD

Sculpt it, ask for it for a special occasion, do it in an aesthetically pleasing way (I don't know, in origami for example). Be creative and the other guy will have no reason to refuse your proxy. But don't transvestite a lame, ugly plastic toy.

iñigo montoya Well I think putting effort into your proxy should be important, like buy a toy Dragon, and try to paint it like the actual unit. You are right though, however, I still think you should own the unit, if you want to play said unit, or do what I suggested
