In this 2000pts 6th Ed batrep, Young Dwarf Lord Borek "Thunderbrow" Thorekson, seeks an ancient dragons horde in the Black Mountains, said to contain enough gold and gems to fill Karak Hirn's treasury for generations to come. But as the Dawi finally come upon their prize, the earth begins to shake, and from out of the mist comes the sound of great wings flapping and an almighty roar from a time of ages past.

So - miners. Yea, they really should work more like skaven tunnel teams. Totally agreed! I think the comets pounding the battlefield must have been causing some earthquakes and cave ins on the forgotten passages of the Underway which the poor dwarfs were trying to navigate. In terms of making their entry to the board more effective, you could consider having them enter the table in a snaking formation (makes sense - the corridors must have been narrow so they were forced to move in a single-file line!). This gets the front model of a 10 man unit about 8 inches into the table before movement, which is a lot better than otherwise! From there you can get really beardy with various wheel/turn/expand frontage exploits, but that is probably not for this channel.

He chose a great color for their scaly skin, they're so vibrant. So much eye candy on your channel. I loved seeing the flame cannon from your dwarfs but it seems like the organ gun is king. Except that one game against Damon where you one shot his giant with the cannon 🤣. That is just like a game of 40k between me and my oldest brother... The first turn of the first game with my new Land Raider Redeemer my bro rolls a bunch of sixes and blows it up and kills everyone around it..

Great game again👍 A piece of advice: when you win combat, you can overflow the other unit. First fill the front rank if some space is left, then 2 guys per turn max on each flank. You may loose ranks bonus but you do get the flank bonus. Should be systematic in V6 😉 Regarding the stegadon, you declare the charge, then rally test of the kroxi that fails and move, then charge the steagdon. So in the end the final position is alright lol, but if kroxi did rally you should let kroxi reform first then move the stegadon last

Thanks mate! Unfortunately Gyrocopters(in the old dwarf book) are suuuper weak against units of flyers, as all they need to do is charge it, win combat through unit strength, and it auto crashes and burns.

Great entertaining game. Thanks for sharing. Just a couple of mistakes. The stegagon is Ld5, not 7. The giant bow on the Stegadons still suffer the -1 to hit for moving. The stegadon is stubborn. The Terradons would have required a panic check when they charged the Crossbows, due to 25% casualties. Killing the last terradon on its own would not cause a panic test on the kroxigors as its a single model with less than 5 wounds. The comet range is 1d6x the number of counters, rather than rolling that many d6 (probably wouldn't make much difference however) Also I think your miners are heading to the battlefield via the tavern... Keep the amazing battle reports coming.

There's a good reason people dislike Lore of Heavens in 6th ed, though iirc they did had ranges to many of its spells in one of the Warhammer Chronicles books (I think it was the 2003 one)

Great report. Love your content keep it up. At 53:25 you had 3 ranks at the start of combat not 2. So combat resolution would have been a draw, then you win by musician. Probably wouldn't have changed anything as the Krox are cold-blooded but you never know!

What an amazing game mates! a tough one for the poor dwarfs...these comets destroy almost two entire units, terradons are the perfect warmachine-hunters, and dice rolls didn´t help neither... Probably another shooting unit, and/or a gyrocopter could help a little...but such is life! good job!

This is what happens whenever I face Lizardmen too! Definitely an overpowered army book: speed, aggression, cold blooded, basic infantry with 2 attacks and S4, best casters in the game, cheap skirmishers with blow pipes, flyers…. All they lack is war machines (except the stegadon bow). Were you using the revised Lore of Heavens? If you’re using the one in the rulebook, it’s S5!

This was hilarious 😂 man, this was the edition I started Warhammer Fantasy, and it brings back memories. I think I prefer the magic rules of this edition, but the charge rules really hurts the stumpies :(. I also love the artillery guessing ranges XD makes sense for range finding in a wargame.

Luck is always the deciding factor, but this lizardmen's list is a tough match-up for the stunties. As a high-elf player, I would have gone heavy on thunderers and crossbowmen with shields. Any opinions from dwarfs players?

A gyrocopter would have been great at dealing with the skink screens. Overall i got the impression that the lizardmen list was a bit nastier and more serious than the dwarf one but as a dwarf player, i love Stos' willingness to change things up and experiment with fun little units like the miners.

Great battle report. One of the things I really like about 7th is how the magic was toned down. I think the magic was too strong in 6th edition. But a great battle and great battle report.

Alot of the Lizard men army was spent on magic. Lizardmen High Elves, Vampire Count, and Tomb Kings can have some pretty epic magic phases but their army end up pretty small. As you saw once the iron breakers got into combat the Slann would of been fled next turn.

I absolutely love the lizardmen list - they were my first foray into fantasy back when i was 11. Do you use the standard army book points, i got the list out to 2034 - maybe one of the skinks was only level 1? Regardless - best fantasy content I've seen! keep up the excellent work!

So nice to see the Lizzies making their second* appearance on the field. Can't say I'm accustomed to seeing the new sculpts on square bases instead of the old sculpts but they look great! unrelated: Have you ever tried the 6th edition scenario generator form white dwarf? I've not yet had the pleasure of trying them out myself after coming across it in the archive (WD april 2004), but the added variety in deployment and objectives seems like a good way to keep things interesting.

there would have been an immediate panic test on the teridons when they lost that model to the stand and shoot reaction. Even though it was only 1 wound it was 33% of their unit strength.

So , my freind recently pointed out the rule for hand weapons and sheilds in melee giving a bonus additional +1 save. The rule is on the 6th core rules on page 88. It's insane because that puts lizardmen on a 3+ save in melee 😢. Someone please help 😂

I never take artillery as dwarves against opponents that have flying units. Not worth the points cost for one turn of shooting. I'd rather have another unit, even if it's a small one.

When the lizard man player sayed he wanted to maximize the front with the flyers couldn't he have wrapped around? Makes a lot of difference for them to have all the attacks against the single model.

My understanding is that you can only lap around from rear ranks, not the front rank. Unless otherwise stated, all flying units are skirmishers with unit str 1 per model. Skirmishers don't break ranks, and you need unit str 5 to gain flank/rear charge bonus.
