Hi Don! I really enjoy your videos! Would you consider making a video that compares different speed painting methods? You could paint the same miniature using various techniques (painting over white primer, slap chop, double slap chop, etc.) with the same speed paints and display the results side by side. This would help beginners understand the differences between the methods and choose the one that suits them best

Nice! When doing slapchop I always primed the mini in a fitting shadow color other than black - as I think that pure black is almost everytime a bad shadow desicion and just unnatural. But that double tech is so simple but yet so much of a Solution of that problem. Elegant and simple - love it. Subscribed

Bro… you know your colors. I agree, totally agree with black as looking so unnatural. Specially on skin areas. 😊

That orc tirned out great. Idk what people are complaining about. It's another technique to get stuff on the table to play. Bot every piece has to be a Picasso. Great work.

What about replacing the initial black primer, zenithal, and drybrush with just an off-white or light grey primer? If you use a dark enough initial coat before the drybrushing, it seems like you can get very similar results with fewer steps.

What is the addition that you have on the top of your paint bottles?
@revel24204 күн бұрын
Do you typically thin the speedpaints (I'm using 2.0 and having trouble seeing any of the shading done with my drybrush)? You mentioned using the medium on one of them, I wasn't sure if that was 'in addition' to your normal thinning, or if it's unique.
@DonSuratos3 күн бұрын
Not always bro. Usually I thin with Speedpaints, only if I find the particular color too saturated. ☺️

What color you used for the end highlights. Is ist warpainter fanatic series or also speedpaint

Out of curiosity why add speedpaint medium to a speedpaint??
@DonSuratos2 күн бұрын
Hi 👋🏽 Medium adds transparency and slows drying time, without making the Speedpaint runnier ( unlike water ). Less runny means more control, more transparency makes the paints more predictable. Slower drying time, allows a longer window to blend edges. I have a video all about Speedpaint medium here 👉🏼 kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIHcf32bp7F6Y7ssi=0wSCY8Zw9p9r840s

"But thats not Slapchop"! Thats what I was told when I posted your ultra marine video to a Facebook group. Your work is amazing, but it seems vitally important to some in the community to pigeon-hole Slapchop as a "basic" technique with so-so results and any improvements to the basic renders it not Slapchop anymore and, as I was told: "misses the point of Slapchop".
@DonSuratos4 күн бұрын
Yeah I got comments like that before. That is why I now call it Double Slapchop “plus”. People can be very amusing. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
@NathanielGarro40K4 күн бұрын
That's like saying fishing is no longer fishing because it was originally for survival and now for sport. Taking longer or getting a different result doesn't necessarily mean it's not the same technique IMO. I think people get too wound up with stuff like that! I'd argue that the base technique is still slapchop until we come up with yet another daft sub technique. It's like the difference between emos and goths! Does it REALLY matter if someone labels an emo as a goth or even both as 'rock' or metal heads. Who cares! Have fun and be happy! 😊
@harrisonlorens35854 күн бұрын
Who cares, so weird to post this video to a Facebook group in the first place let alone actually care what anyone in it has to say lmfao.
