Inspiring. I've never left the comfort zone of the early 90's style painting on a pure white base. I may finally give some of this "slap-chop" stuff a go as folks are waiting on me.

Back when I was new to the hobby, I was afraid of painting over white primer or zenithal so I stuck to black primer because it felt safer. But since the Citadel Contrasts came out in 2019, they taught me the power of white and light gray undercoats. Ever since then, and with the arrival of the Army Painter Speedpaints it completely transformed my painting. What is being done here is now my go-to method for armies as well as individual models. It's fantastic because you can see how Stewart uses the natural boundaries between details to his advantage. You don't have to force anything, all he needs to do is fill in the details up to the zenithal shadow divisions between details and the shadows are already there. It is AMAZING how well this works and how fast you can get armies done! All my friends who see my models think I'm doing traditional painting with painstaking labor. This technique gives you a high tabletop standard that I would argue is so close to display standard there's virtually no difference.

Great tutorial as always! You have truly become one of my favourite channels. Such brilliant yet economic paint jobs. By the way, oil paints mixed with white spirit are of no danger to your normal acrylics. Only if you flood the surface it might give the same effect as if you’ve flooded it with water.

Thank you, that’s very kind 😊. I’ve never really had any issues with oils that way either, but like to give the warning just in case someone does go a bit heavy.

I seem to remember you mentioning a couple of times (in the podcast perhaps?) how much you were looking forward to getting hold of this model, it shows in the final results. You really played to the models strengths to make it look like such an individual all the while maintaining the uniformed yellow and blue. Great stuff!

I love Scale Metallics. I’d recommend Decayed Metal, Black Metal, Thrash Metal, Necro Gold, Viking Gold, Dwarven Gold and Elven Gold. I prefer Game Air Silver for my bright silver, but that lot pretty much covers most stuff.

Half a head taller than a men-at-arms, so not crazy out of whack for a man in full plate (and a hero). So probably slightly yes.

Gorgeous looking miniature and a very helpful tutorial. I'm glad you managed to get a hold of one. Probably a difficult question to answer but how long do you think it would take to paint a miniature like this? I know you could elect to do less layering which would save time and obviously outside of making a video it would be a little quicker as well. Typically I imagine batch painting is where you would make things quicker. I know when I have painted this has helped speed things up a bit but of course hero miniatures typically would be done outside of the rest of a batch.
@MiniatureRealms Жыл бұрын
Thank you. This one took about 5hrs, would possibly be closer to 4hrs to this standard if I wasn’t filming.

@MiniatureRealms Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I was lucky that I was able to get into Warhammer World in the first mins of the open day, as I’d missed them online as well. They will definitely be restocked, but I expect they will come in and out of stock for a while until it settles. I can definitely recommend clicking the ‘email me’ button on any out of stock stuff that you’re after, not only does it mean you will get notified, I’ve been reliably informed that data genuinely gets looked at.

I’m really not sure right now, I seem to remember something about the resin miniatures from the release were delayed in the US fora short period, a shipping thing.

Ok, how did you get this mini? I don’t see it on the webstore.
@MiniatureRealms Жыл бұрын
I bought it in the Warhammer World store on release day, but was lucky to be close to the front of the queue as it had sold out in 5 mins. I missed out on pre-order day on the website. It’s currently sold out on the UK webstore, and I think it was delayed in some parts of the world (along with all the resins) because of shipping issues.

@MiniatureRealms Жыл бұрын
I was lucky to be able to go there on launch day yes. We have the same issues webstore wise though, like I said I couldn’t buy one online, going to Warhammer World isn’t normally an option for me. They are main line items, so they will be back in stock, and available on the US store as well. I know that doesn’t help you right now though, you do have my sympathies. There’s a lot of people waiting for lots of stuff to come back in stock, myself included.
