So, this exact video got me checking out the range and I'm really feeling it. Far more familiar with Dredd as a franchise, but these models are much more to my tastes. Warlord's nailing it on this starter and the sculpts really carry the whole 2000 AD vibe.

Nice look at this Warlord Games product which certainly seems to be of a high quality. Some tutorials on terrain would be cool and I'm more than happy to watch any you do on the troops/characters from the set even if I'm unlikely to pick up this particular game as I don't really know anything about the comic. I like Warlord as a company as they make good products at a "fair price". The only thing I would say further to this though is that dealing with them these days is that those of us in Australia and really anywhere apart from UK, now have to pay an extra 26% (approx.) than what we used to have to pay. It is by far better to deal with the original host country's currency and then do a straight forward currency conversion rather than an inflated rate first into USD and then have to convert to your own local currency. It might seem a bit of nit picking since they are a cheaper company than GW for example but still it just seems a bit rough to have inflated rates which are outside of sales tax or freight considerations. If you further consider that some companies remove the VAT for exporting purposes (which I believe is allowed for within the UK when selling overseas but I'm certainly no expert) the difference in extra % becomes larger. The VAT equivalent in Australia is GST which is only 10%. I do understand that when you list prices in foreign currencies there would be an element of risk to the company which is why you can skip that part by just listing your own host country currency and the customer must accept the exchange rate based on what their financing institution or payment method dictates which is obviously considerably less than the inflated %. Sorry for this being a bit long winded and let's face it this isn't life or death stuff, but I don't think anyone would be out there wanting to pay more than they ideally should. Oddly dealing with 3rd party sellers is cheaper than dealing with direct....no idea if this is a GW style discount being at play or not.

Yeah I’m lost these days on tax and import since Brexit. All I know is I now have to pay tax receiving my clients models from overseas, good that are never mine and are sent back. My clients then often have to pay tax the other end. Essentially we’re just passing the clients stuff backwards and forwards for me to paint, but there’s no exclusion code to get around it (guess it’s an unusual business. But both counties tax men are doing well out of something they shouldn’t. I think a lot of companies have had to add a charge over the top to cover any potential costs, and they’re pay lots of extra things behind the scenes. If what they charge is fair I’m not sure, but it is definitely very expensive sending long distance now, and the paperwork can be extensive, so some of the cost could be genuine admin related. It does sound like ordering from a local stickiest is the way to go.

@@MiniatureRealms sadly I can see why you would need to pay tax on the minis despite not ever keeping them longer than it takes to paint and your clients for having to pay tax on receiving their own minis back albeit now fully painted. Usually rules would suggest that importing requires local tax to be paid but exporting means tax should be excluded. Perry Miniatures excludes VAT for overseas customers which is pretty cool, I know they do charge it to UK customers. Interestingly the Aussie Tax Office requires exporters to charge us GST and then give it to them and if they don’t we the consumer actually don’t get charged (using Perry Minis as an example here). There was a big thing about EBay being upset by this admin burden but wasn’t willing to forgo operating here so went along with it in the end. Local game stores unfortunately don’t have the full range as it isn’t as popular as the behemoth that is GW but where possible that is what I would do.

@Svengar Yep I know why I’m charged, it would be a massive loophole if not. The biggest pain is that rarely happened under the US relationship (most of my overseas clients) with EU, but obviously trade under a direct one now. Not sure why Warlord add VAT for overseas, maybe an email to customer services might gain an explanation. It’s definitely a choice being made, and Warlord won’t keep that VAT, so there must be a reason/benefit somewhere. It seems the larger the business the more likely the extra cost are incurred.

Du you know if this game is cross combatable with the Judge Dredd game?

It uses the same core system, but some elements works slightly differently. I’m pretty sure the designers have said that it can to though.

The resin is really bad. I had two minis that had shattered because the resin mix was wrong. It happens too often with warlord resin. Because 2000ad is a cheaper franchise for warlord, it’s a in house production. If only they would injection model these like there bolt action minis.

Sorry you had issues with yours, hopefully Warlord sorted that for you, they’re excellent at that normally. Sadly they just don’t sell the kinds of numbers of these miniatures that would warrant the cost of injection moulding, I’d love them in plastic as well.
