if it isn't lifting up, try cutting the candles in half, it lessens the weight for an easier take off
@Tatusiek_16 жыл бұрын
Alex Hardin Or use 3 straws, if you cut the candle, there will be less fuel

You did a good job of showing the assembly. However, typical retail household trash bags are made from plastic that is too thick and heavy for making a hot air balloon. Fortunately, the the thin, light-duty bags often used in offices and schools are perfect.

How do you do it without burning the plastic
@WeatherDemos9 жыл бұрын
+John Roach You do have to be careful, but there should be enough space between the candle and the bag itself. Watch the video a few times to understand the technique. Also, we use bags that are .25 mil and under so that they are light enough to be lifted.

I use to make these in the 60s but used dry cleaning bag and put slits with razor blades and stick Birthday candles in them around six a cross on each straw the bag would get way up in sky and start moving people where calling police and stated a ufo was in over the city ,when it got up in the night sky looked big as a house

Its crazy but i am going to half to call BS on this one. I have tried this like ever which way including making my own bag out of just thin plastic i had and in every test the candles melt the bag. I can not get this to work. You for sure can not do this with one of those bags you get from the grocery store. believe me i have tried. The melting point of the bag is before the lift of the hot air made by the candles. 2 candles cut low will fill the bag with hot air but will not lift it no matter how light you make the armature holding the candles. I had 4 candles as thin as i can find cut to just a 1/2 inch stuck into the straws themselves, i didn't even use the foil and all that. Lit 2 of the 4 candles and nothing. as soon as i lit the third candle the bag melts. What bag is this guy using ????? flame and heat retardent????
