I've learned a lot from Joe. He's got great ears, knowledgeable about the old and new gear and he's always willing to share his knowledge and help. Thanks Joe!

Thank you again for explaining the 0 vs -18dB thing... I’ve really benefited from this series, and as a Warm gear owner it’s nice to see what a pro can do with the same stuff I own. Thank you.

Hey Joe thanks for doing this stuff. I love how warm has demonstrated how you can achieve pro results with their products and you don't have to sell your children to get there! I was curious what compressor that is in the middle row behind your left shoulder on top of the 1176's at about 9:20 of the video? It looks like an SSL type, but I can't tell...not at all important, I was just curious. I am not in the same league, but my mixbus is virtually identical to yours without my even knowing what you do...Love your work capt'n!

Shane thanks For the kind words Shane. You are correct, that’s an SSL stereo compressor. The A room at Treasure Isle has some real gems in the racks.

Great stuff joe , love the sounds. How do you hit the wa pultecs around -18/-15? even when I have my individual tracks hitting around -18 my mixbus is way hotter than -18. Do you use a gain plugin before you go out to the warm pultecs or are your levels naturally just around -18? Great sounding mix you got there. I have both the black box and ssl from pa also.

Peter Doherty thanks Peter. I try to run my stereo buss at an average of -18. So essentially the accumulated totals of all the tracks together is what I am referring to. The reason being that is analog zero. When interfacing hardware like the eqs or stereo compressor that’s their prime operating spot. As I start automating the mix often the level gets a little above that point which is absolutely fine as a few DB above unity actually sounds even better to me. Saturates the tubes a bit. So you can watch your stereo buss levels and adjust the individual channel faders or sub group masters to reach that “optimum” position and be rocking ✌🏼✌🏼

Great tutorial, really enjoyed the teaching by Joe Carell but, the artist is terrible, and so is the song! That being said, whoever produced engineered and mixed are incredible!
