your moves are so confident when you're working on bookbinding: very inspiring for a beginner like me! (and love the editing of the video🎥)

I started bookbinding many years before but, as life is complex and chaotic, I lost it again. Then I found this very video, binge watched most of your content and started bookbinding again. Made a lot of books in a lot of techniques and I'm soooo happy I found my teenage love again to never be lost in the future. Thank you for bringing it back to me😊

I think this is about the fifth time I've watched this particular video. It really is very relaxing to watch with the added bonus of seeing some lovely books take shape. Thanks for sharing Chanel 👍

This is great. I have struggled with Coptic stitching and your instructions are the clearest I've seen. Thanks!

Apart from Washi what type of paper can be added to make the book cloth? 😊
@bittermelonbindery Жыл бұрын
I would try to find any acid-free papers that are 30 gsm or under.

1:47 Do you still use unyryu tissue paper for this bookcloth or is it something different? This looked much stiffer 😮
@bittermelonbindery Жыл бұрын
I couldn't source unryu tissue paper this time so I tried this one and I liked it! It's a 30 gsm paper made of part kozo. I think any paper made of part or all kozo/mulberry at 30 gsm or under will work! It also depends on the weight of the book cloth you're aiming for.

Hi Chanel! If you don't mind, may I ask the weight of the paper you used to make the covers? ( 4:35 ) Are the weights of the papers you use in this project the same as the papers you use as endpapers in your hardcover books? Thank you in advance! 💐
@bittermelonbindery Жыл бұрын
Yes they are about the same weights! They're just slightly different types of washi.

The desk you work at looks to be the perfect height for you to work on, is it bespoke or did you make it? 🙂

Hola, gracias por enseñar tu trabajo, me encanta y tengo una duda, como se llama ese tipo de cortador? El que es para tela y papel
@bittermelonbindery Жыл бұрын
It's called a rotary cutter, the brand I use is Fiskars
@Barb.u Жыл бұрын
Watching you make the covers I realized I usually use an exacto knife to cut cardboard but it’s quite hard and I end up hurting my hand by putt too much pressure on it. Does anyone know of a better tool or easier method?
@emmascustomcloset Жыл бұрын
I use a heavy-duty box cutter to cut one or two layers, but I ended up buying a heavy-duty paper guillotine and it cuts through many more layers so I have more consistency with my cuts. Hope this helps you!
@bittermelonbindery Жыл бұрын
Yes what Emma said - I use the OLFA 18 mm utility knife to be specific.
