My favorite thing about this channel is seeing guys in my age bracket who have been on a similar journey, and who are ready to walk away from "The 800 lb Space Marine in the room". I actually bought the rule books and had just decided to invest in war machine when it really went under and people were liquidating their armies. I thought better of it, and then I also went on about a 10-year hiatus from the hobby while I got married and lived life. I have also just gotten back to it this year, and I'm about to go all in on Infinity N5. Would not be opposed to going back to war machine as well, because I loved those models and really felt like I missed out on the chance to paint them up.

Well, us "chaps of a certain age" need to stick together! Sounds like a perfect time to get back into Warmachine!

I second this! Cheers!

Thank you GeneDean for the update regarding Warmachine! I played Hordes 2.0 after I left the gorilla and still miss those days. I think, I prefer the differentiation with the names. Even when the mechanics were mostly the same, the feeling of the factions was quite different. Would like to see more updates on Warmachine in the future!

Excellent! Warmachine has been gaining momentum over the last couple of years. Well deserved, I'd say!

Always appreciate folk talking more about WARMACHINE. Though, didn't Privateer Press originally release WARMACHINE in 2004 (thus making the game 20 years old)?

Oof! That's a long time... Honestly, I am not sure. We shall have a check. Thanks for watching.

Hint: Magnus & Invictus and Carver & War Boar MMD47 were released to celebrate the 20th anniversarires of Warmachine and Hordes, respectively.

One problem I've found with the old models is that most of them are hugely nerfed to the point of uselessness. Basic Winter Guard Infantry can only have 5 or 6 models in the unit tops, when their initial strength was being numerous (but weak proportionally). Since facing is gone, almost every model that used to have Backstab are now weak lumps. I still love the setting but there's so many problems i have to get over since MKIV.

In some ways yes, in some ways no. Having gotten all the games I could in before the SoCal open, and only playing the Armies of Legend (Legacy) armies, they are incredibly well balanced...against each other. The power gap between modern Khador and legacy Khador for instance, is huge. And while that can be frustrating, it also makes sense lore/storywise. At the same time, the cadre themes they choose are a lot of fun, and speak to what made the original factions so compelling.

I hope that the new team inspires you to come back to the game! Thanks for watching.

That depends on an legacy army by legacy army. Two of the best winrate armies are legacy.

I really wish Steamforged the best. My understanding though is they don't have any big changes planned for the rules. Warmachine was left off at a point that it is in dire need of a major overhaul. I have heard from sources I trust that the previous owner of Privateer Press is still in a position to veto and make changes to the game. If true that makes me nervous that we won't see the renaissance of WM that it deserves. It really needs to get back to physical rules and stats as well. Having an app is cool, but shouldn't be required. Fingers crossed things go well and they can get the ship righted and on a new course. Please do keep up on the future of this fun game.

Interesting, thanks for your input. I can see the benefit in taking over and not rushing into changes. Let's hope that they makes considered moves for the better down the line.

You can print everything out and theres 3rd party sites which allow you to make cards easily. But the app has been there since 2012, and thus i dont believe its going away. Gameplay wise its in an amazing place and wont need huge overhauls.

@@hightde13 i highly doubt that PP has veto. From whay they have said publicly PP handles the rules development, but sfg has the final say in the end.

Played WM for 15 years. All the way through 3rd ED. Didn't like the major rule changes introduced in 4th. Hadn't heard about the sale. Hope everything works out for the game. It almost entirely died out where I live so I doubt I'll go back.

That's a shame, I hope the community returns to support the new team behind it. Hopefully they can bring everyone back in.
