So a quick tip that iv found amazingly effective when using painters tape came from a friend of mine who’s a painter and decorator, once you have applied your tape to where you want it use your finger or a cue tip and slightly dampen the edge your painting up to which will form a seal on that edge then when you peel of the tape it will leave the cleanest line you will have ever seen. Merry Christmas hobby dudes 🎄

I purchased both the Wow Stick and the Color Cubes when you first recommended them, and they are the best hobby investments I've made (except for paints and brushes). The Wow Stick...it does what it's supposed to do, faster and better than a pin vise. I don't come from an artistic background, and have struggled with color schemes for 30 years. Art books gave references and taught color theory, and I have color wheels galore; but it just never seemed to stick if I used more than 2 colors. The Color Cubes are a dream come true for me! I can't recommend them enough to anyone who struggles with color schemes, or just wants to try something new. 100% worth the price! Thanks, Jon!

Thanks for the video, lots of stuff in there that I didn't think of yet! A quick comment on that neatfi lamp. The neatfi lamp is fine and all, but it's also a rebrand of a typical manicure/hobby lamp that can be bought for around $30-50 from aliexpress, ebay and amazon if you search for the right keywords. If you're in Germany/EU you can buy a semplix lamp and they'll be identical sans the label.

As someone going through this right now I really needed some hints. The fact that you brought up models really hit home, last year my kids got me models and I had to hold off on my projects to paint them so they could see them done.

+1 for isopropanol alcohol instead of airbrush cleaner which is 20 times more expensive per litre where I live. It's more effective as well. Acetone works even better, but not a big fan of breathing in those fumes when I can avoid it.

And I got a pack that goes up to 12,000- haven't used it on models yet, it's in my jewelry tools, as sometimes I need to glass-finish resin/ plastic parts. Anyhoo- where did you get the cracked concrete Mr. Jon? I think you mentioned it on one hobby tools vid, but can't find it and it's not on your list o stuff.
@breakupgoogle4584Ай бұрын
The thing about investment in the models is soooo true. I was on a comp list once for models from a company, for some online work I was doing. Its cool and all, but it can also rob you of some of joys of the hobby like going out and getting that thing you want and getting it home to tear into it. It can also overwhelm you really quick as you see your workload increase by huge margins every time a box arrives.

Okay the bathroom tile, is honestly so fricking stupid and genius 🤣 Ill be sure to include that! My family is unfortunately extremely bad shoppers and will not go anywhere they don't normally go, so i cannot wish for hobby materials nor for any hardware store materials because they just would not go for that. My mom has defaulted to a gift card to the local shopping mall (i do use that a lot though) or just straight up money. And my dad is weird and gave me a gift card 3 years in a row to a store selling beauty products, cremes and perfumes.. it took me a while to get those gift cards used with my minimal "beauty shopping habits".. My sister and i have agreed on no gifts, as we don't really wish for much and don't celebrate together either. And my in-law family gives gifts to "us" and not to me or my partner 😅 One year my partner's brother surprised me on my birthday with a little set of Warhammer figures, it was Elf's on kangaroo looking mounts? Idk enough Warhammer, but they looked cool! It was such a thoughtful gift from him and they turned out real great with my rose and sky blue color theme! 😂

As someone who would like to see this type of video become a recurring drop each year, it would be more helpful in early to mid-November when making a list before Black Friday sales. 2 weeks before Christmas makes it a little harder to act on.

Recommend the liquitex inks had never used them before but had seen plenty of vids on them and picked up the white one to try doing runes on a terminator librarian they made them so easy to do, put the white in first then mixed some plasma coil effect from army painter with em went over them and couldnt be happier with the effect, I have since picked 6 more to try different effects with.

This year im collecting pro acryl set. About 100 pounds or so off until i have whole set after Christmas. 🤣 They have limited reds and oranges so I feel you kinda want all those. As a brand though each set is seperate and no repeat colours other than the starter set. Thats why I chose to give this brand a shot. Next is figuring out how to store these bad boys. Pegboard from ikea and attachments from etsy seem like best choice cant wait to remove the ones built for my gw paints a few years ago as tbh i don't like them that much. Paints fall off and I've isnt even balanced enough to hold pain past the third shelf.

Ya'll got some weird families if you think this video is too late for Christmas shopping 😅😅 The second busiest day of the year for shopping is Christmas Eve. The pop widget at 10:00 is the most brilliant hobby tip I have gotten in over a decade. I currently own one I got for a buck at 5 Below in the shape of a foot. :D It has 26 bubbles, and since it's silicon, almost no paint sticks at all. And I've found the best quartest of paints to try from a line to get a feel for them are a medium blue, a bright red, either a desaturated green or brown, and the white. This pretty much tends to give you the most and least opacity of the paints, lets you see the finish of the colors, and the quality of the white can often show the worst tier of a given paint line.

Would the tube of heavy body Titanium White paint work well for dry brushing (slap chop)?

Don't see why not. Heavy body is super thick. The viscosity of toothpaste so would definitely need to do a few more passes on the paper towel to wipe off excess

On the subject of the artist signature range series from Monument, I have found that your Dark Ivory and Vince’s Payne’s Grey have completely changed the way I paint miniatures as universal highlights / shadows. Also after the brief clip of Vince and you trash talking in his video this week, I once again request a new channel that is just raw Zoom footage of the two of you taking the piss out of each other while painting miniatures. Please make it happen 🫶

Hey Ninjon, could you please make a video about the Vallejo Strike? As players who enjoy the hobby we sometimes forget all the workers who labor to make all the games, minis, and paints that make it possible. A private equity firm bought out Vallejo and is hollowing out the company and putting the poor employees at risk. The Vallejo workers just like all the people who make our hobby possible deserve our support and the help of the content creators and influencers who make a living from it to spread the work and stand with them. All the printers, the warehouse workers, manufacturing techs, the paint techs, etc... all of them deserve a fair wage and safe work environment. Really hoping you will make a short video supporting them and sending out the call to all D&D youtubers to do the same. Thanks!
