Good for you buying the USA made Warn. I’ve run the M8000 on 3 Jeeps. Never let me down on probably several hundred times winching out. I went synthetic to help keep my TJ SE light
@dironaa5 жыл бұрын
Right on. I have yet to hear anything negative about these winches. How's the synthetic line holding up? I may eventually switch over down the road as this Jeep evolves
@imaginewagons33084 жыл бұрын
is the synthetic as reliable? i own a TJ 2006 and am thinking about getting a winch...but im having a tough time deciding.
@SPQR-Z4 жыл бұрын
Dirona the steel cable has been holding up just fine. Synthetic is Extremely reliable. I winch allot and so do the guys I jeep with all run synthetic rope and non of us have had one fail (knock on wood) Steel cable is heavy, it frays causing extreme cutting hazards when handling. Steel cable stores energy so if it does break it will tension whip which could really hurt someone standing too close. Synthetic rope doesn’t do this. Also steel cable gets kinks and gets ratty looking over time. If you don’t winch much then all this doesn’t matter so save money and get the steel. But want to save 45-50lbs between cable/fairlead weight reduction and the other advantages mentioned above, get the synthetic. You can look around and catch a sale for a M8000 with the synthetic rope as a package. I got mine for not that much more from Northridge on sale. This is my second Jeep winch I’ve used Synthetic, never going back to steel cable. My 2 cents. Good luck with your choice

A good winch is a must when wheeling by your self.When I lived out west it saved my A** and helped out some others I came upon. Great video as usual keep it up.

Been watching your Budget Crawler series since you started it, I am currently in the process of trying to find a decent project Jeep (TJ or YJ, not sure yet) but plan on doing almost the same budget style build. Looking forward to the rest of this build!!!

With a little patience, good deals are out there. Took 10+years of searching to find the $900 deal I got on this Jeep, but in the past I've bought a couple high mileage TJs for $2000-2500. Just need to act on them fast because as you can imagine they're usually sold within a matter of hours. (And of course the price of jeeps is HIGHLY dependent on where you live, I live in the northeastern US which seems to be one of the cheapest places to buy) Thanks for following!

i've been binge watching this all day since episode 1. I'm now motivated to buy a budget TJ. The only problem is the ones in my neck of the woods (Maine) are all around 160-180k miles on them. Not sure how long the 2.4l and 6.0l engines go for. Good series!
@dironaa4 жыл бұрын
The 2.4 has a timing belt and I'd steer clear of that one. The 2.5 and 4.0 will run forever as long as you keep oil in them. Both are great engines but some would consider the 2.5 to be underpowered.

I’m enjoying this build as I want to get another Jeep but unfortunately money is tight due to my getting hurt at work.

There are more than enough high dollar JK and 4Runner builds out there. Figured it was time to show how the other 98% of us live.

thanks ,just in time,i put the 87700 warn bumper on my TJ lastnigbt and was looking at what winch to go with and i to will pay more for USA ,save our jobs
@dironaa5 жыл бұрын
Those are good looking bumpers and I bet a M8000 would look right at home sitting on top of it

I just checked Northridge4x4 web site and this winch is now listed at $791.59. How did you get it so cheap?
@dironaa5 жыл бұрын
Wow that's quite a price hike, think I bought it back in February or March and $589 was the price they were selling them at. I just tried looking for it again but can only find the synthetic rope version on their site now. $600 +/- seems to be the standard going rate across the board for these things if you do some searching around. It looks like Amazon currently has a few listed right around that price point.

Well spent big ticket item (relatively speaking). Will do the same...except only the VR ships to Hawaii...and the M8000 isn’t waterproof...have to accept limitations
@dironaa3 жыл бұрын
Agreed, a winch is one of the most worthwhile purchases! Enjoy the warm weather in Hawaii, we have a few feet of snow here..

Very soon. If you look closely you may have gotten a slight sneak preview at the end of this video.

How did u get the two back bolt from the winch to the plate to go in when the plate is already mount to the bumper ?
@dironaa4 жыл бұрын
There was enough clearance under the plate that I was able to crawl under the Jeep and install them.

Yes, you only need a winch plate like the one in the video

Not sure, you'd have to contact Warn for that info. I imagine it's more waterproof than the engine of my Jeep though lol.
