Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is the second of five all new adventures in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World™.
At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.
The film features an ensemble cast led by Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, with Jude Law and Johnny Depp. The cast also includes, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Carmen Ejogo, and Poppy Corby-Tuech.
“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is directed by David Yates, from a screenplay by J.K. Rowling. The film is produced by David Heyman, J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram.
Slated for release on November 16, 2018, the film will be distributed worldwide in 2D and 3D in select theatres and IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Robert Phillips if you have read the books, dumbledore himself tells harry that he feared to meet grindlewald because when ariana died, grindlewald, dumbledore and aberforth were dueling and she got hit and she died. Dumbledore feared if grindlewald knew who gave final blow and maybe if it was dumbledore who actually killed his sister. That was the last time they saw eachother. Even dumbledore’s boggart is his sister’s corpse.

I remember reading this somewhere. It is because American audiences have a lower understanding of English as a whole, and therefore they may not understand the usage of Philosopher in the title. Therefore, they distributed copies of the book with 'Sorcerers' stone instead so that it can be more easily understood. Its a bit weird, I wouldn't expect them to change the title of the damn book but they did...

@@temegron6695 actually, if I can mention this, Depp has had problems with his role as Grindelwald since CoG, that's why WB took this path as there are still 3 more films to go (to avoid controversies). Don't get me wrong, I'm a Depp fan. But, I think that Depp does not suit this role. You see, Mads Mikkelsen, who replaced Depp as Grindelwald, has an incredibly menacing face. He's played psychopath, murderer, cannibal, and villains in Rogue One and Doctor Strange. This is a great choice because so far Fantastic Beasts has only had 2 films, and Depp hasn't showed up much (basically he showed up in FB2 only).

Dumbledore was a puppet-master like few others. As Snape put it, he raised Harry “up for the slaughter.” He always knew Harry would have to die for Voldermort to be destroyed. That whole mentoring, surrogate-fathery-thing was so Harry would eventually agree to do it. He knew of Snape’s undying love for Harry’s mother. He used his grief over her death to get Snape to protect Harry, even though Snape wasn’t exactly the boy’s biggest fan. When Dumbledore knew he was going to die, he again manipulated Snape, this time into agreeing to kill him, so Voldemort would completely trust him. Learn from Dumbledore. His manipulations are grand, but subtle. So subtle that we still think of him as the beloved father-figure, not the sneaky guy who persuaded a bunch of people to die. So subtle that Harry even names his kid after him.

I think Dumbledore planned to use Remus too like a spy between the werewolfs thats is the reason why he made all the stuff for Lupin studied in Hogwarts, because he wanted to Remus be in debt with him, but he couldn't because he found a better subject for the business to spy the enemies: Snape. The same with Newt, he made all stuff so Newt can have a life after he was spelled from Hogwarts, and even use his own wand. That's actually a great detail. It was always hinted that Dumbledore was lying. And Harry learns Dumbledore saw his sister in the mirror instead. But this movie is before Grindewald killed Dumbledore's sister.

If you're right, this movie just took a pile of crap on Dumbledore's character and completely missed his arc in the 7th book. Because after that incident, he resented Grindelwald and hated himself for being foolish. He longs for his sister because she's the casualty of his poor decisions.

Jude Laws delivery of "Muggles are not lesser. Not disposable." is stellar. There's so much emotion in that one line, I can't freaking wait to see him bring Dumbledore to life in a way we've never seen before. The most beautiful shots are the mirror and the fade in with Dumbledore and Grindelwald "looking" at each other. Whoever made this trailer is a genius! 💜😃

The thing I enjoy most about Jude Law's potrayal of Dumbledore thus far is that it follows Richard Harris more than it does Michael Gambon

Dylan Rowland I was thinking the contrary... But IMO Gambon closely followed what Harris made with Dumbledore. Especially in HP3 AND HP6.

I think Michael Gambon did a terrific job of stepping into Richard Harris shoes after he died. And I thought he matched Harris pretty closely but he also brought a bit of his own personality into it which I liked especially his sense of humor Gambon had a great sense of humor and he made me laugh. But I have to agree the Jude Law from what I've seen does seem to be closer to what Richard had done. But personally I always liked Michael Gambon as Dumbledore better but then again I had never read the books so I prefer Gambon take on the character and it's a shame that he was too old to reprise his role here.
