I was obsessed with this song as a boy. I first heard it at a sleepover. The four of us watched cable all night seeing who could stay up the longest. I was the winner and decided to flip the TV over to Much Music to watch the late night music videos because they were usually punk and metal. Stuff they wouldnt show during prime time. The music video for this came on and it kinda creeped me out but I became obsessed with the song after. Thinking back it feels like it was a perfect moment created in space and time just for me. The isolation of being the last one awake in a quiet, dimly lit house. The glow of the TV screen illuminating that living room only enough to make the shadows dance around the corners of my eyes. The scared feeling the video inflicted on me made me feel even more alone in the moment then I was, if that makes sense. Somehow though I didn't mind, I was absolutely transfixed by it and I felt oddly tranquil despite being afraid. It's a kind of feeling that I chase now.

I heard the lyrics of this song in a TikTok a couple days ago, and I instantly remembered the song. I googled it, anxiously, and eventually found it here on youtube, standing still, 14 years later. This literally brings me back to my teenage years. Back to when I was 14. This band, and this genre moulded me and helped me out of my cage in SO many ways, at SO many different levels. Nostalgia hits HARD. I was so sad, yet so lucky, and I didn't realise. Oh, I miss good ol' 2000s.
