The best Dispatcher or broker is the one with a great memory. The best drivers will answer the phone... Even at home. The best combo are the ones that live in the real world. They work best together. They understand that things happen. Just be straight up when I answer, tell me the load sucks. Tell me it's not the greatest. Then remember I did it. Gain trust with each other.

A good independent dispatcher is a good investment. They will be your eyes and ears and protect you. A good dispatcher puts the carriers first and understands that its a business relationship between client(carrier) and service provider(dispatcher). Is is better to dispatch yourself sure but if time management is priority then, outsource so you can focus on running and building your business. You'll have to find a dispatcher that's the right fit for your business.

Good acting, very accurate, and funny. Great job. Too many young drivers think they work for the dispatcher. Hell they even refer to them as "my fleet manager" or "my driver manager." This is ass backwards. The dispatcher works for the driver, not the other way around.
@johnwaz5678
@johnwaz5678 Жыл бұрын
Accurate. The driver works for them. I've seen first hand dispatchers just straight mess with drivers like a cat n mouse. Driver gets mad at a dispatcher who is sitten 3000 miles away in a cold office and he intentionally gives the driver the wrong trailer number, says it's a mistake, is grudgingly trying to force a lesson on the driver. The position pays lower, the company just wants the business, so they turn the eye on the driver harrasdment

Drivers get harassed all the time, it's very hard to prove, usually when the company doesn't like the driver. On a local job, another, driver has a habit of speeding, we would start that driver 2 hours late and tell him the warehouse wasn't ready, well no driver likes having his start time pushed 2 hours later at 9am. We did this until he got the point to stop speeding, now his speeding is at an acceptable level, driver starts at 7am. Some dispatchers are harsh, knowingly letting the guy run around a yard lookin for a trailer that isn't there for an hour an not get paid. Then call him an blame it on the customer for not giving the right trailer number to us. Then the dispatcher doesn't document the down time, the customer is pissed at the company, company blames driver for late load and fires him for poor performance. Driver knows he is being harassed an can't prove it. Some companies are scumbags, that's why as a driver you need to kiss ass an be fake, the only thing a driver controls is the truck itself, other than the operation of a truck, he is at everybody's mercy including g the dot an doctors. That's why it sucks, drivers really aren't self sufficient and men of their own means and it sucks.

You did a 10. I really wasn't laughing because this happens to me a lot. I'm a company driver and I have a assigned truck , meaning I use that truck every day. I been at the same company for almost 6 years. They hired a bunch of new dispatchers who have zero clue or care about a drivers assigned truck. The past 3 months they keep letting other drivers use my truck when I'm not there and 3 times when I have a run I come to work and my truck is gone. You know what? I just go home. It really pisses them off but I wont drive a truck with zero tools or equipment not even a cell phone charger because everything that I need is in my assigned truck!!

@David-yy7lb
@David-yy7lb Жыл бұрын
@@armstrongsconsultants4184 Stupid KZbin keeps deleting the link describing a Qualcomm but here's what it is Qualcomm, or Omnitracs, is an onboard computer with a messaging system, GPS navigation, an electronic logging device (ELD), and more. It is tied into the truck's computer and also allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and exchange messages with the driver - similar to email. You will access the Qualcomm from inside the truck, using what looks like an iPad. Another way to summarize what the Qualcomm (Omnitracs) does is logistics management. Each company can set up their Qualcomm (Omnitracs) to monitor the truck based on their own specifications. Most are set to monitor: Location Idle time Speed Miles per gallon Engine over speed Cruise control ...and more

RONAN, Great acting on the POV videos. All of the scenarios were spot on, I would like to see more of these. I've encountered some well experienced dispatchers that pick and choose what drivers to do this to on the hush hush in order to frustrate them an quit them. They know what buttons to push by how aggravated the driver sounds when he/her calls up. Maybe a driver is doing something unsafe or not kissing ass, it's always a pick an choose, some go put of their way more to rectify the bad situation for the driver based on how strong their relationship is. Why networking and relationship building is important. It shouldn't be that way but no company treats drivers equal, some strive to but no matter what the old school good ole boy network will prevail

Ur acting skills., it’s an ACADEMY AWARD winning, for best acting!!, lol, you nailed it, keep the funny humor coming as the acting is just a mere glimpse in what Drivers and Dispatchers go through EVERYDAY!!!, It’s not easy., but I truly believe honesty has ALOT in the way things transpire leading to the end outcome in what’s right. If dispatchers are just plain HONEST, that goes loooooooong ways. As much as we would want the Shippers/Recievers to be honest as well. Sometimes things just happen a Dispatcher can only do so much, it’s just the nature of the beast. Communication is CRUCIAL., if indeed everybody communicated, just imagine how much smoother things would go. Keep the funny humor coming, you did great👍🏻😎

Most challenging work I ever had as we had company drivers & owner operators too. 10 hours max per day & alot of contracted drivers - run 2 up (2 drivers as in spouses). We had road trains running - triple wagons that could not go into cities so had to drop a trailer off here in Australia. Country fuel stops that refused large cash sales & no credit cards over $200 back then. It was a bloody nightmare as the BP fuel cards only did BP of course. No driver is going to fork our $2,000-$3,000 for fuel :) Even fuel costs were a factor as a 50c AUD a litre makes a huge difference. (1 US Gallon is 3.78 litres & 4.54 litres = UK Gallon).

I don't get this from dispatchers that often. My advice is to be very firm but professional in what your requirements are and if nesscary involve management. Have an hourly wage in your contract and what your terms set out. It's remarkable how effective 150 dollars an hour is at halting bull shit. Don't bother saying anything to the dispatcher, they don't care. Send your company a statement of unpaid hours and speak to management. Like I said if the company want accept my rates I don't haul. There are plenty of companies that will, so I don't care about companies that won't.
