I love that Knee Deep In Sound is "a small label you've never heard of." 😂

LOL good catch... i don't do the editing -- our editor was just screen-shotting arbitrary labels that aren't named "Spinnin' Armada Defected" etc haha... Of course i know Hot Since 82! love em.

I unknowingly did this ( although my first release was on Silk now Monster Cat Silk) but after that it was relatively small Trance labels but after each release a door opened to bigger labels, current release on Blackhole Records it just keeps going up.

Did you submit a demo? How did you connect? I can't seem to find any information.

I had commented on that previous video, then just found this one today 😅 I agree with this step, only problem I have with the smaller labels is that they don't support your release for no more than a week or two. But that shouldn't stop anyone from from submitting to them (yes, even talking to myself with this). Like you said, its a starting point that builds up to getting on the more serious labels. Great vudeo and hope I wasn't too crass on the previous one!

Thank you for this, as a a DJ and producer who is trying to make that switch from self release to start sending music to labels, it is sometimes hard to find those smaller labels that will support you and build your reputation and credibility. Thanks for making these videos and helping artists to achieve their goals.

Label Radar is good for smaller labels. Sometimes they approach you I like the track you uploaded.

Saying self releases don’t prove anything is straight up wrong. A lot of big artists started on their own label and went straight to the big ones. It’s about marketing, strategy and good music, not what small label you’re on. Become the „small label“ that does well yourself to gain the prestige on your own.

How does one negotiate a release/s fairly? I’ve been told we should ALWAYS guard our publishing and nothing should be on perpetuity. For how long does one sign a release for?
@djTNELS Жыл бұрын
5-10 years is what I've been signing. Seems pretty standard.

Thanks for the video, Justin. I just wonder if having a decent active follow on socials (talking about some houndreds of thousands followers) would make us skip the small labels step. Do you think it would be good? (asking this because a ut would be a great way to earn your money, build the fanbase and avoid any risk of wasting time with small labels). Thanks!
