I don't blame artists not wanting to participate in social media and "branding". Back in the day, artists were expected to make good music and that's really it. Nowadays we're expected to be content creators, marketing experts, visual artists, promoters, etc. It's exhausting work, especially when you're typically LOSING money doing this.

It's some thing I am trying to fight. Being a content creator and making good music are 2 different things

Regarding the second point, I must unfortunately admit that you are right. UNFORTUNATELY. Social media is the downfall of the new generation, and artists, slaves like so many others to the system, must adapt to it rather than fight it if they want to succeed.

This is such a great view to look on these things! Attitude and growth is so important, but also a really fun process if you ask me! Thanks again Justin!

Your videos are so inspiring! I love how you work with emotion with the music you're choosing, how you're a bit dramatic in your tone yet fun and passionate. And your messages are so mature and on point! You have provided so much value in my music production journey

Yes, you are right. So, let's talk about my musical heroes, OMD. Yes, those dudes from the UK with "Maid of Orleans" in 1981. They are still active and celebrate their 45th anniversary of their first single "Electricity". And they release new albums every few years. But there is more: They don't give anything on charts. They sell out venues. And however music develops, they stay the same. The songs always sound like OMD, but always fresh and new because they try new things. And this is what it's all about.

Sadly 90 percent of the golden era of edm artist fell victim to one or more of these reasons you listed. Those remaining 10 percent are still relevant. Currently Tech House, Techno and melodic techno are the most popular genres in the scene but some newer or relevant artist are switching or at least trying Afro House, Latin House, Drum N Bass and new eurodance. John Summits album is a mixed of genres but it sounds like John Summit. Hugel,Carnage are doing latin and afro type house. A lot of these generic tech house artists and techno snobs need to evolve their sound if they want to be around in 10 years. There are still artists with big hits today that don’t engage as much on social media. As much as I love Anyma I think he needs to evolve his branding so people don’t think his visuals are just a fad or the only reason worth going to his show. Tale Of Us had amazing music and shows way before the visuals took the forefront.

I don’t know if I would call any educational institution that puts students in crazy debt, on day one…. Amazing. That being said.. good content here. Me gusta.

You have to leverage something for something in life. If you ain't got experience you leverage your time and money. Its how badly you want to progress. You can do it on free stuff.

Also, most countries students run up thousandsin debt in universitys that promise the world after a degree and they end up working in McDonalds. Least this ads value if you want to be a music producer also building a network of like minded people

Even Prince only had one great record. Most “artists” can only make one good record. They have no craft: it’s dumb luck or fashion.
