That quote at the beginning speaks to me. I have pretty well squandered my adult life... I was a kid of great promise that I haven't lived up to. But in 17 years of underachieving, I haven't TRULY jacked up my life like I could... and I think it's because I have ZERO stupid friends. For 8 months I had a stupid close friend. He introduced me to pot, taught me how to pick up chicks, and then disappeared for years until I hear he's looking for a place because he beat up his uncle or something. Right now, I'm getting my life back together, it took 2 years to do it, and hopefully in the next month or 2, I will hopefully get the first job where I can say with a straight face that I'm an IT professional. Rock bottom to IT professional in 2 years ain't bad at all... in fact that says something about MY rock bottom. It's simply not comparable to a stupid person with stupid friends' rock bottom. I don't have to check in on that guy... having not heard from him in a decade, I'm STILL quite certain he's found various ways to f up his life. I'm also sure that the people he trusts most are also stupid people on hard times who would rob him blind. That is my privilege. I was never capable of failing as fully as a stupid person. After 17 years of making poor decisions, I still have a high IQ and ability to solve complex problems. I have done NOTHING to maintain it since high school... it's just there. It's part of me. I don't know if it's fair to say I LOOK DOWN ON stupid people. Perhaps it is. But I'll tell you this... limiting your exposure to them is advantageous, and there's nothing you can really do to help them in a lasting way either. I hope he's alright, but I'm almost certain he can't be.

You may offend some, but you are spot on here. I feel like social media has allowed the few stupid people in any given area to congregate and find each other despite distance and then create spaces where their false or ignorant beliefs are never challenged and instead reaffirmed. This this results in a group not being able to identify facts from opinions or just openly embrace opinion as fact. This results in the landscape we find ourselves in today. The dangerous part is these groups can grow like cancer and then start to have real influence in things that matter despite having a tenuous grasp on reality.

When stupid people encounter difficulty, their VERY first instinct is to do the same thing, but more of it. I mostly agree with your list, I only have a few comments: Regarding the second point, of not changing your mind when presented with new information, I would disagree, or maybe present a different perspective of tolerance. I don't mind people not changing their mind when it comes to some of their beliefs, whatever the "truth" or new information exists. If you believe the sky is actually an upside down ocean, I don't mind, as long as: 1. You don't try to impose your opinion on others 2. You don't hurt anyone with your belief 3. You don't incite to violence against those that have a different view of things In case you respect the 3 rules above, I will not have anything against you, even if I disagree. The second thing I've noticed in your list, is that some of the points are a bit out of the range of just stupidity and enter another psychological area, of personality disorders, or behavioral sciences. Also, some of the people that made the list, I wouldn't call stupid, as their behavior seems to be motivated by greed or lust for power. This is something imprinted in human behavior since even before homo sapiens. The idea is there is more depth to some of the situations and people you mentioned. Calling them just stupid is only barely scratching the surface. And lastly, removing yourself from these people or the situations they create is very good advice, do it, if you can, but sometimes it's almost impossible to achieve. You might live with them, you might work with them, they might be your bosses, your colleagues, your family, they can be in your face all day, without leaving you many options to evade them. In the end, congratulations for your work, I appreciate your videos, wish you all the best!

Not to mention that it dries out your mouth which makes the mucous membrane more dry and easy to crack, making you more vulnerability to viruses. 'Surrounding oneself with great men' is still subjective.
@EJ_Red2 жыл бұрын
One thing I affiliate with low intelligence (And possibly a dip of cowardice/hesitance) is the blind belief of "Let people like what they like." I hate how people think that "People have different tastes" or "Let people like what they like" constitute an argument. I strongly believe that in order to like and follow something you need 2-3 reasons to argue for it; if you can't do that with interests, how can you argue in serious discussions?
@jordanwebster17282 жыл бұрын
I think that's just a personal issue for you than a legitimate issue for someone else. Who are you to tell a person that their interests are a "blind belief"? We do in fact have different tastes because of subjectivity, just like you have your own that may vary from others with your reasons for doing so.
@EJ_Red2 жыл бұрын
@@jordanwebster1728 Because it takes more than "Because I like it" to convince someone that it is a legitimate taste/interest - I want to know why you like it in the first place, and if you can't give me 1-2 reasons then it is just an interest or hobby for chemical bliss. I explained this in a comment threat somewhere else in this video's comment but I will do so again. The 2-3 reasons do not have to be something everyone agrees on, they can be subjective. I may not like it still but perhaps I will learn something new about it and learn to respect/appreciate it more. For example, I hate the K-Pop genre of music because of how toxic its community can be, but I appreciate the academic paths it gave its fans for giving them passion to translate Korean into English (And likely other languages as well). I despise the Furry community, but I give them mad respect for giving the children of Syrian refugees a way to distract themselves when their families went to Vancouver around 2007(?) where a hotel was concurrently housing them and having a Furry convention.

@@EJ_Red I like to jump up and hit signposts as I walk underneath them. No reason except I like the sound. Does that make me a fool? Everything is in balance. Some people have priotities that others cant even comprehend. And everyone has a personal battle within their own mind to find out wether something is worth doing or not, as everything has pros and cons. Some of the smartest people alive smoke. Do you know how stupid that behavior looks like to me? And yet I tolerate it (conditionally of course, as with everything). Tolerance of the views of even those we deem wrong or hateful, without any attempt at understanding is, in my view, ignorant, up until a point.
@EJ_Red2 жыл бұрын
@@bjosey855 You can jump to see how high you can go or just reach for the top of the doorframe to stretch out your arms, the latter of which feels way better than you think. I understand that there are priorities and beliefs people have are are incomprehensible to others, I agree. And that is why I stand by my argument that in order to defend something you like you need to have 2-3 reasons to do so. If that weren't the case then I wouldn't need to give even one reason to dislike something.

@@EJ_Red Thats my point, a smart person can rationalize any stupid idea or position with as many different reasons as they want. Nothing is too stupid or useless for a smart person to be unable to rationalize.

The fact that you're here and watched the video suggests that you're not but like all of us, there will be things we don't know and can improve on. It's OK not to know but it's bad news to be ignorant. All types of crap can stem from that. Who knows? Perhaps wondering if you're stupid is an antidote against stupid 😊

The key to placating one’s stupidity is to go full introvert. Don’t talk to co-workers. Don’t hang out with people unless you can pick who they are. Other wise, if you’re stupid, the world may likely have at you. And there’s no cure for stupidity, so you might as well try to avoid potential fallouts. 😁
