Mary, I want to sign up for the mixed media class but I also don't want to offend by offering a minimal amount. That's tricky. How long is the presentation, do ya think?

I don't do the resist technique anywhere near enough. I have a goal of making 93 cards this month. I am 48 cards into that goal, so I am a little behind. I also have 5 new stamp and die sets from the $10 sale at Craftstash. I think this is a perfect technique for butterflies!!!!!!!

Really cute card. I've had my Halloween cards for this year designed for about 10 months. Just need to execute. I used to only make Winter Holiday cards and an occasional birthday or anniversary card but since I retired, I'm making cards for almost all of the major holidays and all the birthdays. It's great fun.

Really like your colors and the emboss resist (use that a lot). Just for me, I will make Thanksgiving cards - just can't bring myself to participate in the Halloween thing. Each to their own though :) As usual, beautiful card Mary. No coffee today. 98 on the mountain - hotter tomorrow 🥵

Super cute card... and you're right. They are fun to make, but I wouldn't know who to give them to. I have several made, just in case. I have a few friends that have birthdays near Halloween, so I make them birthday cards instead. So much fun! TFS

@marypolancodesigns let's change the game a little, lol. I want to see if I can holiday cards without holiday sentiments. Sounds like a fun challenge to me.

I like your "you can make a hot mess..." reasoning for doing Halloween cards, Mary. LOL I think yours came out wonderfully. The only Halloween cards I've done have been to donate to Send a Smile 4 Kids. They serve children's hospitals, so no "trick or treat" greetings, as kids who are inpatients don't do that, at least while they're in the hospital. I kind of struggle to find Halloween stamps that don't have that greeting. I know I can use the other stamps, but I still feel wasteful not using a stamp in a set. Ridiculous, probably, but whatever...! LOL Thanks for mentioning how to hold the marker & image when "painting" the edges of something you've fussy cut. I have only (I think) seen one other card maker make a point of doing the marker trick, but she doesn't emphasize the best way to hold it. I personally think it's very important since, as you said, if you hold it that way & your marker slips, you don't mark on the front of your image. Also, I noticed you were using a low-heat heat tool to dry the ink on your panel in between ink smooshings. You might want to bring attention to that, as it's a good way (vs. using a high-heat heat gun) to avoid remelting the embossing powder if you have done heat embossing already like you did. The heat gun can work - I've done it myself plenty of times - but you just need to be more careful to keep it moving over the paper & not hold it too close, so as not to cook the heat embossing on the paper. I'm sure there are people who don't know you can overheat it & literally melt it into the paper. Ask me how I know.... LOL Anyway, thank you for sharing this. As I said, I love how your card turned out. Take care, & have an awesome day! :)

I'm so happy that was a helpful tip; I always mean to share it and forget to. I've ruined one too many cards that way.

I have trouble masking…there always seems to be a ‘halo’ around the masked image. 🤷🏼♀️ why doesn’t the ink get up against the masked image?
@CricketsBay5 ай бұрын
It helps to cut the mask the tiniest bit smaller than the image it's covering, so the ink goes all the way to the edge.. And using thinner paper for the mask can help.

@andrealavigne78245 ай бұрын
@jeanboyko5579 try cutting the mask just barely inside the stamped outline. If you can't manage that, or can't line up your mask with the image after doing that, at the very least cut right along the line. That will trim away the masking paper edge so you should not get a halo. This is especially important if you are stamping another image over/"behind" the first. Hope this helps! 😀
