Ironically, one of the original marketing names for LaserDisc was "Magnavision"!

vwestlife My favorite is DiscoVision. Appropriate since the format came out in the '70s!

if you sandwich the disc between two solid surfaces and put some weight on it for a few weeks or longer. Might help

That's what I'm trying now. Turns out laserdiscs are pretty easy to flatten. Thanks for the advice!

ahh ok. next video I watch i will take note how far into the movie before i get chopping on screen. I have 2 or 3 discs that has the laser rot.

My high-end LX-900 revision 1995 laserdisc player will play through warped discs without any video or audio distortion. However my LX-h670 will read the discs the same way your laserdisc player does. If a disc has rot no laserdisc player that I know of can auto-correct it but I'm telling people if their laserdisc is slightly warped that higher end models probably will play it without any issues. Or maybe Panasonic did something special with the LX-900. I have never owned a high end or even mid-range Pioneer player so I wouldn't know how it plays on those laserdisc players.

So I got a CLD-3070 player and when playing Shawshank, I don't notice any visible signs of issues, but the player's laser will 'squeak' after each rotation and slowly get louder minutes into the movie. I play back my Back to the Future disc, and nothing. Any ideas? I'm assuming it's the discs and not the player..

I have the same problem on a copy of My Cousin Vinny which was also made by Fox Video.

Interesting video! My friend has an LD collection, and some of his discs have started getting laser rot. Do the warped discs scrape inside when it plays?
