Hi Amanda, this is interesting. I was taught to warp with the heddle on the loom rather differently. I struggle to get an even tension using overhand knots. I get much better results by making sure that my ends all match before starting to tie. Then I use wind the threads onto the back bar. Then I tie the ends around the front bar, using the first half of reef or square knots. Once I’m happy, I tighten up each knot by making the second half of it. Hope that makes sense 🙂

I only like using overhand knots on the back beam. On the front I use square knots, tying half a square knot across all my sections, then making sure the tension is even before tying the second half. Which is the same thing you're describing I believe! But I know people who prefer tying overhand knots with the front as well, but not directly on the front bar. Rather, they wrap a lashing yarn or cord around the front bar and through the sections with overhand knots, then even out the tension by adjusting the lashing. I've never liked this method, but some people prefer it. It's great to have so many ways to warp a loom!

That makes sense 🙂

I like this méthod of warping. Love the colors of your warp. But your music is not my best 😊

I make these recordings by myself. I am definitely not an expert! If it helps, I edited the closed captioning too 😁

(Just make sure the captions are not set to auto-generated, they’re not as good)

I’m just gonna give you a pointer, the music is so unnecessary!
