As someone who's first exposure to the franchise was these movies, even though i'm not a huge fan of transformers I still really think these designs are iconic and great in their own right. They have more of a alien and incomprehensible look to them, how they are intentionally made to look otherworldly. There is an appeal to the goofy, blocky designs of G1, but this is arguably more interesting and fitting to their backstories. At least thats how i see it as someone with only a passing interest in this series. Idk its hard to explain but the bayverse designs feel more organic while being more robotic at the same time.
@WarpingFist2 ай бұрын
Yeah, the whole point behind the designs in the first Bay film was to make them look "grounded." They wanted the looks to make sense in the context of a more realistic world, so they moved away from the more cartoony aspects of cartoons and comics.

I still remember the teaser for the first film. It followed a NASA mission to Mars, where a drone was to be landed and search the planet, and it did find something. Just something.... different. All of the old Transformers trailers knew how to get an audience excited. They would either have this ominous terror, or this operatic guns blazing action or sometimes even both. Modern Paramount marketing teams should take a look at those trailers, and learn how to market a film.

Despite the good reviews from the fans and those who watched it by popular youtubers such Chris Stuckman, Angry Joe, Penguinz and etc. It still failed attract the said audiences. In contrary to BayFormers films back in the day, 2007 to 2011, the BayFormers trilogy were advertised only in T.Vs, billboards and the people who saw it. These films were limited in advertising but managed to grossed billions in theaters, DVDs and digital copies. BayFormers saved the franchise despite the massive flaws but the general audience ignored it as they enjoyed blockbuster real life CGI robot fighting (The trilogy only and not the AOE and TLK). Most of these audiences are not fans of the franchise, but they enjoyed and rewatched many times the BayFormers especially the real blockbuster finale DOTM. Sad to say, Michael Bay's transformers attracted the general audience or casual viewers because of the real life CGI blockbuster films and not the real transformers films such Bumblebee (2018), ROTB and the recent film Transformers One.

Let's not forget that by the time the Bayformers arrived, we already had different designs for many characters in the various other animated series. But the designs of the Bayformers were really insect like and "organically" alien compared to the blocky motorized versions we used to know and were familiar with in G1, Armada, RiD. Even with Beast Wars being actual animals and insects, the original designs of the G1 TF were present with the crashed Ark in the past full of the original Autobots and Decepticons, visually establishing that the Maximals and Predacons were clearly an evolution of those transformers. Some designs from the Bayverse are interesting, but let's face it, the designs seen in the Bumblebee movie and Rise of the Beast are much better.

We wouldn't have gotten new interpretations of nobody characters that everyone forgot until this movie; hell, Barricade and Blackout remain some of my favorite Decepticons from design alone! I've even seen a noticeable transition from people calling Bay Starscream a dorito as a way to say the design is awful to people calling him that endearingly and liking the triangular shape of him. Yeah, there are still people out there who act like these designs are comparable to war crimes, but that's mostly G1-elitists, and thankfully most of the community has come to realize that they're annoying.

15:32 the dreamwave and idw designs are literally just G1 with a few boring add ups. the G1-ers are just boring people lol. i understand the complains when it comes to story elements or transformer screentime, but the designs themselves on the first three films are really good. jazz is literally his G1 self but updated.

I love all the transformers. When I was younger than I knew about g1, armada, cybertron , and whatever transformers media I could consume before the 2007 movie. I watched transformers the movie 1986 over and over until the movie came out. I had chocolate waffles with syrup and watched that movie over and over. Then 2007 movie came out and my heart was already attached and grew bigger😂❤ now I still collect them but more of the masterpiece ! Will always be a transformers fan and always love the community ! ❤

I've always felt it may have been more interesting in the live action films to have the Autobots looking more gentle and expressive facially, I do think the Decepticon designs are absolutely beautiful though and appropriately look like evil alien insects. Is it Huffer that states in Arrival to Cybertron? "we aren't soldiers like they are Prime". The Autobots being slightly more vulnerable I think would've added to the menace of the Decepticon designs, and made the Autobots more loveable, I do like those early Bay films though.

I love the video! But I do have some feedback: 1. Citroen is pronounced Sit-tro-en. 2. It feels like you’re rushing and stumbling a bit in some parts of the video, might be worth doing multiple takes for future videos. I hope you continue to make these videos and I look forward to seeing more from you! 😊

Moral of the story. There are a lot of insane weird people out there that get way too into this sort of thing

Early 2000's nerd rage. It brought about the golden era of polite Internet trolling. It was epic to see them froth when you misnamed or misspelled a robots name. I can still get a rise out of Apple fans with my 'apple phone' and 'iwatch'

I didn’t even like transformers as a kid till the bayverse because I preferred the less humanoid looking transformers that we got in the movie, animated and prime.

I do wish the designs we had in Rise of the Beasts were what we got back then, atlest you recognize them

so those "fans" didnt to think to ask themselves if those early designs were even finished yet?

I never understood the hate the 2007 film got even the subsequent sequels that followed it. Without this movie, I wouldn’t be introduced to America’s military arsenal. I wouldn’t be wanting a GMC Topkick because let’s face it, Ironhide’s alt-mode in this movie is far more badass than the OG. Then there’s Optimus Prime’s Pete 379 so American rig styling. This movie is and always will be a car lover’s dream.
