Obviously it sucks that this happened to your kiddo's PS5, but I'm happy that Sony is taking care of it. I got my PS2 at launch and it was actually a couple years out when it stopped reading the blue discs but I contacted them and Sony took care of me too, free of charge. I've had a good history with their customer service and I'm glad that continues on.

I bought a PS5 Digital after updating. it doesn’t start. Blue light keeps blinking. I tried to go into safe mode it starts after 10-15 mins of blue light blinking but does nothing after selecting option 7. He was able to get it working again Techwizo🤏

My PS5 just came in today. I tried to turn it on for the first time and the blue light came on and turned off. I didn’t know what else to do after unplugging, trying different outlets, holding power button, etc. So I called Sony. They gave me the same spill he went through and told me it’s a 20-30 day turnaround. Which sucks given how excited I was about getting it. Currently the box is being shipped to my place of residence so I’ll keep y’all updated with each step of the process. So pissed.

1st update: April 25th - got an email early this morning around 10:30 ET saying my box is being shipped to me from Fort Wayne, Indiana. I live in Georgia and it says it will be here in 2 days on Wednesday. I called to have Sony send me a box to ship off the ps5 console by itself on Friday April 22nd

Just a side note, I really put a lot of thought into not sending it off. I ordered my ps5 (disc version) off of Walmarts exclusive warlmart+ option. I called Walmart to ask them if I could return it for a new one and they said bc they are out of stock they cannot do that, all I could do is get a refund by returning it. It took a lot of paying attention and even more stress just waiting to get the opportunity to get one. I called Sony and really contemplated just returning the ps5 for a refund bc Sony’s warranty policy I was told several times is “we will not exchange the broken ps5 for a new one. Our team will do their best to repair it and make sure it works and if it does we will send it back to you. In the case we cannot fix it, we will send you a new console.” I am not happy about paying $543.91 for a refurbished console potentially. I wouldn’t have been as upset if they offered to throw a free controller in there or something but no. It’s a take it or leave it kind of deal to them. In other words if I don’t like the way they operate as far as what they can do for me with my inconvenience from shopping with them, that’s tough shit and that’s just that. So my plan right now is since I can afford another ps5, I wanted the digital but I’ll take either at this point, if I can get my hands on another ps5 before I ship mine off to them on Wednesday, I’ll buy another and just return the broken one. This hasn’t been the most exciting experience ever.

Update #2 Wednesday April 27th FedEx box came in today, had to fill out a form stating my name, phone number, and had to go into my email and write down the case number. Took the box with my PS5 inside and dropped it off at FedEx. It is being shipped to texas.

Shipping that brick has to be costly! Did you try the fix trick? Put the PS5 in the freezer for 24 hours, next take it out and put it directly into the microwave for 3 minutes. Next take it outside and hit it with a baseball bat 7 times "not 8" while playing Death Metal or Gantsa rap. Next say at least 5 swear words and take it to the trash.

If you can't turn your ps5 on with the controller try the power if it doesn't work you need it repaired as it's gonna repair the console storage but if that fails you have to actually get it repaired

I was reading some INFO the other day saying do not put PS4 physical disc into your PS5 because it might basically break IDK I did buy 3 PS4 games the other day because I can't get them for my PlayStation 5 I've not opened them up yet and played them on my 5 I'm going to either play them on my 4 or wait and get some more news on this. I don't remember because it's been years since I've touched the PlayStation 4 that Final Fantasy 15 and Final Fantasy 7 remake if I remember correctly made you take off the standard black faceplate and put on the special faceplate for the console but I think if you tap the PlayStation button on the controller you can eject the disc from there. Like I said it's been years since I've touched that PlayStation 4 and I don't know if the PlayStation 5 can do that with ejecting discs and turning on the PlayStation 5 with the PlayStation button on the controller because I don't have one and doing what Rich from ReviewTechUSA keep telling us to do hold out for a little bit longer and wait until checkout security gets better to secure one. And you always gotta get the extended warranty in case the next Xbox gets the red ring and one of my grandfathers used to say to be sure to be sure because if the problem happens down the line then we're good and we got the warranty to cover the problem for the thing that broke down the line

@@john75470 Yes. They didn't even attempt to fix mine. I got a notification that my PS5 arrived. Then about 2 hours later I got a notification that my PS5 was being shipped back. The one I got was new and had a different serial number.

Sony sent me a brand new PS5 actually. They didn't even fix mine.

Mine isn't bricked per say. But I just got it a week and a half ago and worked fine for that for that first week and then the wifi quit working.(still worked with LAN, but I have to have to connected with wifi because of my home layout) After 5 calls to playstation and 1 to at&t it could not be fixed. Most likely the internal wifi adapter. Now I have to see if target will exchange it, most likely not because of availability. Then I have to send it in. So bummed!

my ps5 stopped working , but i called sony ps support here in the uk the person over the phone was very kind now i just have to send off the console for repair or replacement of which everything will be free (posting and repair/repacement), its strange because it was working well for a few months until it just decided to screw me over lol , ps4 never had any problems so i think its def a problem with ps5

You know how you solve this problem for ps5 with kids...Put it up high out of reach and buy the digital version with a 2-4tb hhd and call it a day. Problem solved forever. I've had my for months. No crashing no bricks no hdmi issues...limit hours or game play every day and it will last forever...Never had a problem since ps 1....

My son takes good care of his stuff. All of his games are in cases, controllers are organized and out of the way. His PS5 just had a faulty power button. Luckily it's fixed and he hasn't had an issue since.

Well he is lucky to have a knowledgeable father... I just try my best to eliminate any future issues with any products I have. I do alot of reviews on faulty hardware all the time. If that my PS5 for almost a year now with no issues.🙏🙏🙏 and I bought a second one that only has digital that's Out Of Reach in my living room. So everyone's happy with less worries.

Sounds as if a capacitor on the power button board has shorted. Wouldn't matter if the button actuator was pressed or not because the circuit will always be complete. Really rare and unlucky.

I'm really sorry, I don't know how to fix it. You can try holding the power button down when booting up and listen for 2 beeps. Then go into safe mode and change settings

Yes, but it wouldn't reboot without starting in safe mode again. It was as if the power button was actually stuck in the pushed position.
