Buffett's Rules for Investment Success: 1.) Don't lose money 2.) Temperament is more important than intelligence 3.) Focus on the business, not the stock price 4.) Tune out the noise 5.) Find your circle of competence 6.) Wait for the right pitch, you chose when to swing 7.) Value investing is simple, but not easy

And then he invested in IBM and no other tech company 🤷🏻‍♂️ He had an upper hand because of his memory these days there are computers and alerts and a ton of value investors just waiting to buy the business at a discounted price so a person have to have that in the back of his mind

Buffet has done worse than the average investor in the past 10 years. Investing is mostly luck, you can never know what factor (value, growth, momentum, etc.) will work nor can you know the turning points. Buffet was born at the right time, discovered the factor that worked, and hit his prime in the decades when value worked well. There are lots of Buffets who hit their primes in the 90s and 2010s and you will never hear about them because value sucked then. Just like lots of great mining investors like Rick Rule and Eric Sprott who hit their career primes during the 90s and 2010s resource bear markets, or tech investors during the 2000s. Just like there were lots of fantastic sailors like Christopher Columbus's who tried to discover America but got unlucky with the weather and rest at the bottom of the ocean. It's the ones you don't see!

In the last decade, the SP500 only increased, very hard to not making money just buy and hold.

Yes, if you look at what some call "traditional value" low P/E, low P/B stocks, they have certainly struggled compared to the general market over the last decade which has been driven by the mega-cap tech stocks. If you look at energy and financials, but generally falling in that traditional value category, both have had strong headwinds with decreasing interest rates and falling oil prices. If you are able to look beyond just ratios and incorporate growth into your valuation, you can find more quality stocks that have at times traded at good values. (This increases the opportunities dramatically).

@@johnpatrickpagulayan2948 Buffet has done terrible the past 10 years, BRK has underperformed a lot and the only reason he didn't do worse is because BRK is 40% APPL now

@@johnpatrickpagulayan2948 The average investor has done much better than Buffet has down in the past decade. Investing is mostly luck and involves very little skill.
