The real underlying reason regulators allow banks leeway to decide what’s Held to Maturity is they need banks to buy government debt. If everything was marked to market all the time, you’d give banks much less incentive to mismatch assets and liabilities in the way Buffett is talking about here.

All big corps are just a cohort of centralised system working together, and any damage to one can have a dangerous ripple effect on every other one. I learned a long time ago to not trust corporations. Most of my money is in the stock market and my businesses. I keep only what I need to spend in my checking account.

Jupiter' Warren Buffer does not make all of the decisions, there is a board, and he is a part of that board. he makes money when the company makes money. Buffet does not created anything, he use others information to make money. Without the real smart folks, who create, fix, invent, and makes things work, buffet would be lost. Yeah because the fed has basically guaranteed zero loss on treasuries that banks bought. Banks that buy a bond right now can flip it over to full end distribution gains at the expense of losing the duration interest. It's a prop job of the banking sector 100% and the fed has said it's a 1yr loan meaning rates will likely be lower if not 0 in less than a yr from now.

In Europe we have a universal EU-wide bank deposit guarantee for up to 100K euros. I wouldn't put my savings into a bank that doesn't have a deposit guarantee.

I advise y'all to forget predictions and start making a good profit now because future valuations are all speculations and guesses.When these reports are bullish take some off to the side lines, when news gets bearish start buying.
