I know I'm late to this conversation but this is important... these two guys are probably the reason gangsta rap exists... let me explain. Warren G formed a rap group in 1990 with his friend and his friend's cousin called 213. Meanwhile, his step brother, who was also a rapper, needed something to reinvigorate his stagnated career. One day, Warren played his music for his older brother Andre and his brother was very interested and Warren, being his brother's biggest fan, stepped aside. Warren let his brother Dr Dre basically steal his band mate Snoop Dogg and those two literally invented West Coast Gangsta Rap while Warren and Nate Dogg, Snoop's cousin, had a less successful but not inconsequential career.

Good afternoon guys. I like your reaction to Warren G and Nate Dog. I like to add some history to Nate Dogs background. where I see history is needed. There is no chorus on this song with Nate Dog and Warren G. What You here is Nate Dog singing what is called a hook. Nate Dog is famous for his hooks. He has sung hooks on a lot of rap and hip-hop artist's songs. Nate Dog is Talk Singing on this song. Talk singing is in every genre of Black music, from gospel where it started. To the blues, jazz, country, r&b soul, and hip hop music. Talk Singing gives a song a smoother sound and you can clearly hear the lyrics. Actually, Nate Dog is a singer. Who also knows how to rap. He started singing in the church as a little boy. In the black church talk sing is normal. The pastor would not just say Amen. He would put a music note to the word Amen, or a word from a bible versus. Talk Singing, goes from genre of Black music to another. I'll give you an example from to different genres of Black music, Soul R&B to today's Hip Hop music. in your younger days if you ever listened to or grooved (meaning danced) to James Brown. You were grooving, dancing, and jiving to Talk Singing Music. Recently, if you saw Beyonce on the Oscars due her performance of the song "Be Alive". Beyonce is considered to be an Pop, Hip Hop and R&B artist. If listened, liked and enjoyed her performance. Than, you were enjoying Talk Singing. In the 70's if you enjoyed grooving R&B or Soul music by group's like Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, the Spinner's, Earth,Wind and Fire, singers like Al Green then you enjoyed hearing singing mixed with Talk Singing. you listened to a lot of Talk Singing. Band's like Harold Melvin and The Blue notes. The English group Simply Red did a cover of Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes song "If You Don't Know Me By Now". Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes did a lot of Talk Singing. If you listen to there song "I Miss You" that whole song is Talk Singing, it's smooth.
