I lived near him when I was ten and he was filming a movie for the summer. He and wife Joan invited me in and I have a pile of amazing memories from that time. He was the nicest man, and sent me holiday cards the last few years before he passed. How warmly they treated a ten year old me was amazing, precious times.

A truly great character actor, appearing in a number of excellent movies, etc. I always think of one of his very humorous performances, in The Movie: "Stripes". Thanks for this tribute to warren Oates.

Thank you for this short bio of Warren Oates. I have really learned to appreciate character actors. So talented, and he played so many weird characters, in film and tv. Love him in "In the Heat of the Night" and when he played Dillinger.

Green Witch village. Geez He was always a favourite of mine. No mention of his being a regular case member of the show " Sony Burke " with Jack Lord ? Typical poor quality piece from this sort of channel.
