Funny how Boom picked Sapp to be the best defensive player out of this draft in 4 to 5 years. Sapp was 1999 defensive player of the year.

These two men alone changed the lifetime narrative of the Bucs, as any other NFL team upon reviewing that season’s schedule, for the first 18 years, once the game versus the Bucs was noticed, most saw nothing more than a win for their team. The Bears, Ravens, Steelers & Cowboys are all known through the history of their teams legacy as all having a dominant defense at some point, as the mere assemblage of raw talent which Tony Dungy was blessed to coach can simply not be left out of the Top 5 Defensive Units of all time when that debate occurs. Go Bucs! #FireTheCannons #BruceIsBack 🍻🙏🏼🍻

They said Derrick was too small to play linebacker. They also said Warren had too many off the field issues. They both said, hold my drink.

Sapp did not look really happy going that low in the draft and anding up with the lowly Buccaneers. That was a Bucs teams that hadn’t seen any playoffs since thre 1970s, when Doug Williams was the QB. With Sapp and Brooks being sent to Tampa in that draft was huge. Both became first year selections for the Hall Of Fame. Sapp made a huge contribution to Tampa. Him and Brooks were the perfect fit with John Lynch who was already there. It just took Tony Dungy to turn that stinker of a team into a competitor. Yes, it was Gruden that took them to the big show, but everyone knows he took Dugy’s team to the big show. The big thing was Monte Kiffin staying in Tampa that made that defense a legend. Kiffin's defense stayed in the top ten defenses for over ten years, tying the great Steel Curtain of the 70s who were top ten for a decade. I live in Orlando and remember following Sapp’s career swhen he played for the Apopka High School and foillowed his career in Miami. He did it all in Florida, except a couple years in Oakland. I can’t beleve that Brooks was still available that far down the list?

Has there ever been a better 1-2 combo picked on defense? Nope #GoBucs

Imagine picking the likes of Kyle Brady and Derrick Alexander over Sapp lol. Warren was already an elite player, then he was given a massive chip on his shoulder with BS allegations. And as a Miami Hurricanes fan, I always find it funny that the anchors of one of the best defenses ever are a Cane and a Seminole.

If you were clearly the best football player in the 1995 NFL draft and should have been the 1st pick you would feel the same way. I remember Minnesota saying that there was only 1 player in that draft trading up for and that was Warren Sapp. They had a chance at 11 to get him and picked someone else. Those rumors the night before the draft hurt him still to this day. He was a game changer and mad Tampa a destination and champion.
@syndrac6254 Жыл бұрын
@@big_buc2835 Nah, he never wanted to be drafted by the Bucs. they were a literal blackhole where good players careers die. They were the laughing stock of the NFL. Even if Bucs had the 1st overall pick he'd still be sad.

Apparently, he had tested positive for marijuana multiple times, which can be swept under the rug, even in 1995. Somewhere along the way, someone had said he also tested positive for cocaine. Was this true? No one really knows. But that in and of itself caused him to fall.

What made matters worse was the NY Jets fans thought they were getting Warren Sapp. So they start chanting "We want Sapp! We want Sapp! We want Sapp!" The place was going wild because the Jets have a chance to draft Warren Sapp. But typical Jets drafted a TE😁🤣😂. The whole place was stunned including Sapp. Now everybody starts booing this poor TE up on stage 🤣😪😭😁. Sapp just wants to get the hell out of there. And along come the Bucs.
