Dr. Jordan B. Peterson and Missouri senator Josh Hawley discuss his new book, “Manhood,” and break down the importance and depth of the biblical ideals that have shaped society - and particularly the west - in a historically unprecedented manner.
Josh Hawley is a constitutional lawyer, the U.S. Senator for Missouri, and the bestselling author of “The Tyranny of Big Tech.” His newest publication, “Manhood: The Masculine Virtues America Needs,” is available now and seeks to defend the positive and necessary attributes of masculinity across leadership, governance, and the everyday structure of American life. Men of character are needed for a civilization to thrive, and today's America, the west, has openly sought to destroy the foundational and biblical principles that create them.

Isn't it baffling that here we have two of the biggest brains of our times talking on the radio entertaining and informing and America has who they have as the ultimate leaders of that country. Isn't that phenomena worthy of a study or is it too random to be able to pin down.

What do you consider to be "successfull"? And who decides what success means? Wealth, status, facade, your fitness level, your pb in bench press, title on your business card, your office, your car, your furniture, your vacations etc.. For most people sucess is tied to what big corporations over many decades has convinced us is important. Things, things, gadgets and more things. Materialism. Build something, sell enough products, buy things, be happy. Today its all about discipline, working all the time, working out, cold baths, meditation, hyper efficiency, productivity.. Everyone should ideally be their own boss. create something (doesent matter what it is and if people actually need it. If it sells its golden) and strive for even more productivity, money, status, fame the next day. Why? What is it all really for (satisfy our delusions and ego.. who said that?) Whats the end goal for us humans? Why are we here? To watch important and deep shows like ex on the beach and the Kardashians? To own the best car? The best villa? Whats the meaning of this absurd human existence? To use and drain every last natural resource on this planet, just so we all can have the newest and best thing? Then what? When there is no moder nature left.. Go to another planet and do the exact same thing? And then what? Why?

But Missouri was ignored studiously by the senator before him, Claire McCaskill. Good thing she no longer had a Missouri address last time she tried to run for re-election. That was a great opening for Josh's election to that office. He's about 40x smarter than she is and easily 100x more moral.

No, we're not, and this is coming from someone right of center. Hawley effectively abandoned the people of Missouri to reinforce his federal career. Leapt from office to office in the state government, leaving half-finished projects or massive messes for his successors to clean up. Campaigned on not being a career politician, but until his senate seat, but rarely stayed in a position long enough to do anything more than chase a headline. He talks a big game and tries to stick his nose into any argument he can, looking for a camera, but the second no one is looking he's only working for himself. For a man preaching about responsibility, he sure did shirk a lot of his responsibility to Missouri. Hawley is a silver tongued snake looking for his next meal, nothing more.

What I'm even more concerned about is that there are hardly any male teachers in the early formation years for our sons in schools today. How do you tackle that? Thank you guys for having this conversation. It is one that is very needed. I get the privilege of being a Chaplain with the Colorado department of corrections. I work with young men aged 17-25 and they desperately need to hear a message of responsibility. Jordan, lately I have been using Understand myself to help the young guys discover their personalities. It is really rewarding to see the light bulb come on for them as they begin to understand why they do the things that they do. Keep up the good work Brother.

Another excellent discussion. A former neighbour of mine told me how his very intelligent son and friends resented the anti-male indoctrination that one particular teacher was subjecting them to. The boys would write what they thought the teacher wanted to read, the groupthink in other words, whilst secretly despising it. I do worry that at a later date this generation of young men will lash out in anger, women being the usual easy targets. Violence against women seems to get worse. Too much early exposure to pornography does a huge amount of damage. The dating landscape is bleak for older adults too. Trust between men and women has broken down, just as we have lost trust in our leaders and public officials. Use of social media shortens people's attention spans too.

And generations of evil men have brought this about through abusing the gentler nature of women & now men are shocked, SHOCKED to finally find out that there are at least 3 generations of women who completely despise men & for very good reason - men are selfish & don't care about who they use up or how many lives they destroy on their neverending quest to gratify their own perverted desires. Men are an absolute plague on the Earth at this point & the only way back is by men themselves. Men have to put in the effort before women as a collective, will ever trust them again & not want to do an equal amount of damage in return to them. So suck it up boys & fix yourselves instead of blaming all the world's problems on women when it's men who do 99% of the physical, emotional & spiritual damage to society - especially their own kids.

Get this BY - As we were leaving Missouri we voted for Josh Hawley for U.S. Senate and were registered to vote in southwest Florida when Byron Donalds was first running for Congress. Then, my husband's job required us to move to Clearwater where, this last Nov., we voted for rising star Anna Paulina Luna for Congress and the reelection of Gov. Ron DeSantis. But, by the time one reaches our age we have learned how to research candidates. But Florida has excellent resources for researching candidates.

What he says at the end needs an entire episode. The biggest issue with the religious people who don’t study is that which he speaks on at the end. So many people love to say “The end is coming” “i am Chosen” “you have to do what i do or else…” etc etc His breakdown is great. He is absolutely right. So many people are looking for meaning through tragic events and loss and don’t even see themselves doing it…
