@hickspaced Tell that to WW1. Also, German Battleships did have succesful operations in WW2.
@Frenchfrys174 жыл бұрын
@hickspaced Yet the German U boats sunk a grand total of ZERO British Battleships. They were still very useful for any naval operation that required staying power. Much more so than heavy cruisers. Most naval vessels are gone from one torpedo. Battleships on the other hand generally require an entire operation to take them out.
@Frenchfrys174 жыл бұрын
@hickspaced Devoting more resources to other projects does always translate to an equal amount of total gain. Japans ability to improve their army was not just limited by resources but also by their engineering ability and experience. The usefulness of Battleships did not die with the introduction of the Aircraft Carrier. It was made more niche, sure, but conventional Battleships did not become obsolete until the introduction of Ballistic Missiles and especially nuclear weapons. Yet many people can also argue that these newer missiles are also making Aircraft carriers obsolete.

Easily. Their armour is invincible to the guns of the era, and even an aircraft carrier could run rings around any slow, lumbering sailing warship. But that unfair fight potential became apparent all the way back in 1859-1860 when France and Britain launched their first ironclad warships. In one fell swoop the navies of the world were reduced to two ships - and a load of floating matchwood for target practice!

Its a shame we dont make battleships anymore. Imagine how insane a modern day battleship would be.

Aircraft carriers made them obsolete
@jonnyrawket81583 жыл бұрын
Battleships became obsolete due to the fact smaller ships can do what 1 could do, but spread over a far wider operation area. People incorrectly cite carriers making them obsolete but it was actually just frigates, destroyers, and cruisers matching them that didn’t make them obsolete but rather just illogical.

Cool idea for a video. I would have liked to see the Burke class US destroyer and the Ticonderoga class US cruiser in among them though, those two ships being among the most important and numerous surface ships in the US navy. That along with the Los Angeles, Seawolf, and Virginia classes of submarines.

Mark 0:10. Hold it! That Personal Water Craft, or "PWC", does not look like a, "Kawasaki Jet Ski", at all! 😡 Edit: But thanks for the fun video anyway! ☺😊😎

A real shame Midway stole the glory that Enterprise CVN 65 deserved, just like her predecesor CV 6 did.

0:19 thanks for including my country's ship on the rank! But in fact that is called ' Geobukseon' which means 'turtle ship' in Korean Panokseon is definitely a different ship

HMS Victory, the one indicated, is really 221 feet long. USS Constitution is 203 feet long and the USS Maine did not look like that but had two turrets mounted on the port stern and starboard bow areas of the ship, a most unwieldy arrangement.
