Black, white, shit, whatever you are. The music and the groove is the real thing we all got to get to. How many of these fools are on youtube and the internet or on tv or in print trying us not to get to where we all should be...This video is brilliant and flips the middle finger too all those fools...G...

There was once a man on Safari, who when travelling through the jungle hears some incredible drumming coming from the distance. The following conversation ensues with his local guide: Guy: Wow! That's amazing -- let's see if we find it! Guide: No! We must go now -- when drums stop, big trouble! Guy: But the drumming sounds amazing, I really want to check it out Guide: No -- we must go, when drums stop, big trouble! Guy: But this is the kind of thing I came here to experience! I really want to hear it! Guide: No! We must go before drums stop! Guy: But why? What happens when the drums stop? Guide: Bass solo!!

I saw Steve Bailey playing with Victor Wooten in Memphis (Germantown Performing Arts Center) and my mouth hurt.. and was dry.. from the gaping hole that was left after seeing the two of them play together.. More people need to hear that man play, because he is f-ing PHENOMENAL... If memory serves, he's a Music Professor at Berkeley, which would explain the chops!

I got the pleasure of enjoying Lee Sklar's Bass guitar skills live when I attended the Lyle Lovett and his Large Band concert in Burnsville, MN. My first impression of Mr Sklar was like, "Who is this guy?" He reminded me of santa or a ZZ Top member and I honestly thought that his appearance would be a distraction. Turns out however that his amazing playing was the truly distracting factor. Once he started to play I literally was amazed. For most of the Lovett show I was basically transfixed on Lee and his effortless, perfect playing. Yes I said perfect. He is amazing, period.

None of these bassists are known for playing Warwicks, except P-Nut. I went to Bass Player Live last year, and all these cats were there.... When Larry Graham walked out on stage and he had a white Warwick, the heavy players I was standing near, Ethan Farmer and Thundercat, were like, "What? Warwick?"

It would be awesome if these six bass players were there too: Paul Jackson (from Herbie Hancock's band), Rocco Prestia, Richard Bona, Victor Wooten, Square Pusher, and my all time favorite RIP Jaco Pastorius. That would just be ridiculous. Awesome video either way. Damn... Bailey is just an off the chain virtuoso.
