1:57 "Some countries aren´t going to have as much budget". This was the second least expensive Eurovision though, and the least expensive was Malmö 2013. Sweden spent less on both Eurovisions, than some countries spent on one. This might have looked expensive, but it´s Sweden, we´re frugal. 2007: Helsinki: €17.5 million 2009: Moscow:€ 33 million 2012: Baku: €60 million 2013: Malmö: €12 million 2014: Copenhagen: €45 million 2015: Vienna: € 34 million 2016: Stockholm: €14 million 2017 Kyiv: €45 million 2018: Lisbon €23 million 2019: Tel Aviv: €28.5 million

How's that possible though? Hats off for that. Maybe you people need to release tutorials for others lol
@Asa...S4 жыл бұрын
@@thebipedCentaur I´m not exactly sure how, but I think we already had a lot of the things already set in place, since Melodifestivalen (the Swedish selection show) is such a huge deal here. We didn´t have to build new arenas, and all the stuff needed, I guess..? The producer of Eurovision 2016 was Martin Österdahl, the one who is going to replace Jon Ola Sand, so hopefully he could assist host countries in the future how to make a cheap Eurovision look expensive.

I completely agree, 2016 was the best (and my favorite) contest year of the past decade. Almost every song in the final was so good (or at least had good merits), the hosts were funny and great (to think they had the responsibility of introducing the voting system that we have been having since that year), the production was professional, the postcards were incredibly creative, the interval acts were spectacular (and best part is the artists weren't even overshadowed by JT!), and the voting drama made for great live TV (mind you, this contest occurred during the height of tensions between Russia and Ukraine!). I couldn't think of any contest that can top this, and it's kinda sad that 2020 would have been as great as 2016 if it wasn't cancelled.

In my view, 2016 was the weakest year since Euphoria won, the top 3 are all pretty unremarkable compositions & my favourite song, If Love Was A Crime, in 4th was a rare bright spot. I also felt that the staging was at once too dark & too shiny- I much prefer the presentation & lighting from 2011-15 & 2017-19. 2015 has a better top 10 overall, 2014 & 2017 had better top 5s & 2018/19 have the best "average" song quality out of all the grand finals of the past decade. still think Sanja Vucic is one of the most powerful & versatile vocalists Europe has ever known.
