8:20 I feel like people are forgetting 2019, and 2020 when max did the exact same, i.e. collecting points, maximizing everything, not going for the dive! In 2020 it got him as many race wins and podiums as bottas in a merc, and this year he just did the same after like miami and it secured him the title!

Norris is a great driver, but he's surrounded by superior drivers in competitive machinery such as Max, Leclerc, Lewis and probably George too. Unless he's able to find about 3 more gears within himself, he needs to hope for a vastly superior car like he has had at times this season, otherwise I can't see him competing with the elites. Maybe it will happen, but by this stage if he was a generational talent, it should be clear by now.

😮BREAKING NEWS !!! - So Jensen didnt get to watch the AB21 last lap live 😲 As an F1 fan since the mid-90's I reckon it was one of the most, if not the most INTENSE F1 experiences, and maybe TV watching experiences of my life 🤯. Max or Lewis fan, I'd say everyone else had similar feelings. I still remember jumping around the room, and thinking to myself, remember to breath or you'll pass out. Sorry you missed out mate, once on a lifetime experience I'd say !

I am sure Lando will improve somewhat, though I think it should be more about maximizing his result in every Q and race, including first laps, rather than the racing Max directly narrative. But I think he needs a big leap to beat Max, as he did not make any ground over the 16 race stretch in which he had a faster car than Max almost every week. And I am not so sure that McLaren operations will improve a lot, same people and they might have the additional issue of having to deal with the Oscar Piastri situation from race 1. He will probably be good enough to not want to be a rear gunner for Lando from day one, but recent races suggest that he will not be consistent enough to challenge for the title himself. Tough decisions from day 1, and there is no obvious way of dealing with them given the driver choices they have made. It feels to me as they actually see Oscar as the better long term prospect, but for now Landos consistency just makes him a lot more viable contender.

Great podcast because of the great questions and of course of JB! So, thank you Sky! About 2025 and Lando, suppose Lewis (and Charles) have a great car, as perhaps will have Mercedes and Red Bull, it is not only Max that he will be facing, in terms of competition, but he then has to face other tough drivers such as Lewis, Charles and perhaps even George. And for sure, Charles is no slouch and races tough as well. So, whilst he may focus on Max, the danger could come from a lot of different drivers. He will have learned from this year, but realistically speaking, this was the year he had all the tools to face the challenge and he and the team were not really ready for it. Too many mistakes, bad judgements, etc. Loverd Max' comments to Zak after the race on Sky. Cheeky but so true. Compare that to 2021 and the first time a team looked as if they had the tools and the driver to beat the then current World Champion, as shown during the first race in Bahrain, after that race, Red Bull and Max made no mistakes. And as Jenson pointed out, he only got 1 opportunity to grab the title, and he made it stick! A true champ!

Whereas Norris was already outqualifying and beating his teammate in a midfield car at the time and was 3rd in the championship. So im not going to be biased towards Piastri with my scrutiny. If he was better he wouldnt have this many stats against him and to ignore the points difference between the two is lack of wheel knowledge. Maybe next year, but we are rating performance not potential

And he did have a dominant car in 22 and especially 23, but the dedication to drive every race perfectly and win 19 out of 22 is insane. Most drivers did take it more easy when they had such a car, and didn't mind if other drivers won the occasional race. Max went mental in 23, I think people underestimate the kind of driver you have to be to do that.

Jenson likes it, because Max won 2024 just like he won 2009. Dominated the first 7-8 races, then won literally feck all and relied on others taking points off each other. Max won ONE race out of 14 races, that is pathetic. If Leclerc, Lewis, George, Sainz and Oscar had some brains they would have just made life a little easier for Norris. George holding Lando up at Brazil handed Max the title, he did the job Perez couldn't do. A bit of brain power he would have just released Norris. Vettel has won better seasons than Max, Vettel's 2010 and 2012 wins were far greater.
