@@kaziglubey4455 Thanks! It saddens me when a show actually treats the audience like intelligent adults and with respect and people complain that it's "slow". Maybe it's those people who are slow, not the show. Was Breaking Bad slow? Game of Thrones? No. They were patient. Glad there are people like you who understands this.

As much as I agree, I see the reasoning for Disney's decision, at least from a business perspective. They assumed Boba and Kenobi would do well regardless of quality so they thought they could cheap out to an extent, while with Andor they needed it to be good. I'm not saying it was the right decision, given that some fans have given up, but just saying I see the reasoning.

My two cents: Kenobi and BoBF started with a character and tried to build a story around it. Andor started with a story and themes and then wrote the characters. This i think is why cassian was the one character most people had an issue with, because he already had an end. That said, i dont think his story in the show that bears his name was bad. Cassian just lacked the same polish as the new characters.

@@lennyztrobos8678 What mark? A lot of adults love Star Wars and it's what they grew up with. Putting up with kid shows every time isn't that great. Disney needs to realise that its target audience is also adults with the Star Wars franchise. They can't only focus on the children's side of it and make mediocre content because they aren't mature enough to appreciate it. So I think they miss the mark when they dumb down everything for children. It's the parents that pay for Disney+, not their child.

If someone says a show is mature, I interpret that as either 1) sexy, 2) dark/disgusting, 3) pretentious/difficult to follow, 4)excessively violent, or 5) slow burn/boring. Im sorry, it may not be a popular opinion, but tear down the technical aspects of cinema as visual story telling and Andor is the best in Star Wars, only possibly edged out by ESB, only because the emotional journey was more concise even if the payoff in Andor was more satisfying.

Andor was the "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" of the Star Wars TV shows. It grounded it into something realer. But, The Mandalorian is the more important show that set the pace. Mandalorian can be followed by a smart 11 year old and Andor is meant for the 18 and up crowd. But, I think Andor is nitch ( and smart ), while Mando feels more Star Wars-sy. You were never going to get this quality of writing for Obi Wan, because the premise of Obi Wan is inherently stupid. He's Samwell Tarly. He has one job: keep Luke hidden from the Emperor and Vader. Any story where he goes off across the galaxy drawing massive amounts of attention to himself was going to be bad. Hence why no good writers would touch it, and they ended up with the guys who wrote Army of the Dead, GI Joe: Rise of Cobra, and 47 Ronin.

I don't really know why people expect veteran characters to be "written well" or have good shows. Especially under Disney since they never use postmodern tools (Boba Fett is an anti-hero yet Disney has never made an actual anti hero film. They may make Malificent and Cruella but completely humanize and idealize them). But characters that were born from an specific individuals experience won't have enough integrity or believable journey when given to a new writer. New writers should create their own characters and not be trapped in another writer's character, culture, planet etc.

I just rewatched the show and found Andor to be a completely different character at the beginning compared to the end. This guy was selfish and burned bridges with everybody in his community. Then while nobody is looking, he grows and evolved as he is influenced by other characters. The guy in the finale who carried out a selfless, heroic rescue of Bix is a changed man. All the scenes in the first arc served as the contrast to his character growth. I don't want to hear anybody simultaneously complaining that Cassian Andor is an under-developed character and that the first arc was boring. The scenes that they think were fillers/unimportant were actually in service of the development of the character they think was under-developed. And I extra don't want to hear those complaints if those same people don't apply that standard to the protagonist of The Mandalorian.

Andor really highlighted something that bugs me about the sequel trilogy- the central characters out-way the importance of all the regular people in the war. We see one force projection as the single target of an entire army, and one force user disable an entire fleet. This kind of power makes the individual contributions of the rebels on the ground entirely irrelevant. Compare this to the OT, Andor, or Rogue. We feel the fear of the rebel troopers because we’re on the ground with them, facing down AT-ATs. We see up close the risks and sacrifices made by regular people that collectively make a big difference, rather than the fate of the galaxy resting in the hands of 2-3 ridiculously overpowered force users.

I never really thought to much about how the rebellion had began, other than the content I had consumed in video games. The show creators took the "lived in" torch and ran with it. The whole tradition on Ferrix with the bricks is interesting and took on a whole new meaning to me when I remembered Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall. I can't remember which one of you said it but it does seem true that the show is like the visualization of legends. I forgot about the surveys but would have been among the 70%. One Way Out.

I will say though, Rogue One and to a lesser extent Andor, do use the Force excellently in a more grounded yet powerful way. ANH established it as a religion about a cosmic will that drives the destiny of the galaxy which people put their hope in, with how the imperials and Han viewed it as. Not necessarily just as a source of mystical power that gives telekinesis and low level telepathy. That's what we see through the Ersos and the Guardians of the Whills. Lyra gives her Kyber crystal to Jyn and tells her to "Trust in the Force" before she died, like a mother giving a cross necklace as a final memento. That necklace draws attention from Chirrut, a saintly blind monk who retains his faith and through that he miraculously succeeds before death, inspiring Baze to regain his. Their hope is drawn from belief in the Force. "May the Force be with us" never hit harder than when Jyn said it IMO. In Andor, we have Luthen giving Cassian a Kyber crystal necklace celebrating freedom from an ancient Rakatan empire, Skeen talking about how luck drives the galaxy ("from my experience there is no such thing as luck") and Cassian himself constantly being pushed towards joining the Rebellion no matter how hard he runs ("There's no mystical energy field that controls my destiny). The Force is always in Star Wars one way or another. This is why the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant to it.

Personally, Andor being more serious and for-adults was brilliant. It respects the intelligence of adults who grew up watching Star Wars, and it shows that not every Star Wars story has to have an angle about Jedi vs. Sith. Finally we see that it doesn't have to be all lightsabers and lasers and space dogfights and bombastic classical-opera scores. Instead, we have a beautiful and heartfelt reminder that a tale of Star Wars CAN be about the regular people in the galaxy who don't have supernatural powers or Batman skills or some awesome prophetic family lineage.

The OT showed us a galaxy where Luke, Obiwan and Yoda were the ONLY Jedis left. And where the rebellion was led to 99% by non-force-sensitive people. I too felt it was a slow start but it certainly paid off. Episode four kicked into a higher gear. I fell in love with it. By series end I was excited for the potential of Star Wars again. That’s a feeling I haven’t had for years, other than when Rogue One released. Andor really felt fresh and engaging with few missteps.

Definitely 4 stars for Andor. It's good for all the reasons we SW nuts see it as. My only issue with the series,is the lack of diverse species involved in the fight as well. To say Andor highlights the "human" side or common people side of the struggle is semantically true, given the bulk of the rebellion was in fact human, but there are other species' with the same struggles as well & for me,it shrinks the Galaxy instead of making it as some view, larger in scope when not telling their stories. A series like Andor is primed for diverse species' arcs right along side the humans, since ultimately it's them who illustrate Star Wars as a galaxy far far away. Definitely a good watch & high praise to Gilroy for the good work put in so far. I'm excited with all the upcoming projects Fillioni has in store to give me the Star Wars I truly love. He has never failed me.

I hate when people don't like what I like! I hate them!! Lmao nah, but it does baffle me that some people don't like this masterpiece! What's not to like?! And I was hooked from the start. Star wars opening scene starts in a brothel!? A dream come true! When I was like 12 I thought I could write an adult star wars novel, which I obviously was not equipped to do, but I tried to basically change pulp fiction into a star wars story...would have been bad ass, but I was 12 and had neither the skill or patience for that shit.

What we REALLY need is a show or movie that combines the quality, attention to detail, and character depth of Andor with the whimsy and Space Fantasy elements of a show like Mando or BoBF. THAT would be peak Star Wars. My rating for Andor S1 is a 9.5 out of 10.

Between the films and the D+ shows we've had 6 movies with Tatooine in it and 3 shows (maybe more). We also have Jakku which is Tatooine by another name. I definitely think we can do without this planet for a while, especially when the setting is filled with billions of planets. And I love me some jedi and sith, but it was remarkably refreshing to finally see something without a singke lightsaber in it. I think some fans need to get a grip on this a bit....not every show needs a jedi, not every character needs to be related to a legacy character, not every character needs to be secretly a sith lord.... Variety is the spice of life, right? Don't you think you'll get sick of pizza if you have it for every meal for the rest of your life?

I really liked the series overall and enjoyed all of the episodes. I specifically enjoyed how they felt diverse artistically (cudos to the composer for putting that much thought into the score). One example for me is that the whole sequence of Andor's arrest and sentence was pretty funny (again, microtonal music really helps the feeling of Andor trying to make sence of this stupid situation), and the very next episode we see how brutal the jail actually is, where it is not funny at all. But the episode that touched me the most is, without a doubt, ep. 6. It was a cinematic masterpiece that builds the suspence all the way through to release it in a hauntingly beautiful way. 6th is the episode I'm going to rewatch a few times.

Im sorry but those who say nay to the show are either too impatient or too casual. I sincerely hope they don’t condescend themselves if they can watch other franchises or genres that have the similar tone and pace of Andor. Andor is easily a four point five to five out of five. Loved it and was happy to be surprised about it despite my curiosity. Lets take this as a big lesson and one quite repeated ofter. “NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.” Wait to see what happens first. Thank you for pointing out that people have different opinions and that it's perfectly ok if you like something that everyone else seems to hate or dislike something most people seem to like, I feel like a lot of people really don't get that these days. As for Andor, I definitely did enjoy it and I can say with confidence that is is probably the best written Star Wars show that has ever been released, maybe even some of the best written Star Wars period. However, I personally enjoyed the Mandalorian more simply because it felt more like the classic Star Wars that I've grown up with, having all of those action scenes and keeping me entertained throughout. I'm not saying that Andor's slow pacing is a bad thing, I'm glad they took the time to properly develop the characters and I really liked how they humanized the Imperials rather than just portraying them as incompetent buffoons like a lot of other stuff does. I think I would benefit from a second watch because the plot was so complex compared to what I'm used to that a lot of the details and dialogue went over my head a bit, overall I'd say it was quite good and the few complains I have about it are relatively minor ones.

I'd say 4 or 4 1/2. The best part is the characters. Everyone is amazingly written. I love the power-struggle in the ISB. I feel like it really fits with the rest of what we know about the empire. The worst part was probably the heist arc. It just felt like a generic heist movie split into a TV show and with laser guns. It almost felt like filler.

Mandalorian had the benefit of coming after a trilogy that destroyed the franchise. The bar was set very low and everything that came after that remotely reminds of SW would be praised as great. The fact is: Season 1 is a show about nothing. Just side quests that do not develop the characters until the last episode. season 2 was fan service show. It's not terrible, but doesnt come even close to something REALLY good

I loved this series. People call it "sophisticated" a lot, but I think Star Wars has always been sophisticated, it just didn't present itself that way, and now it does, which I could take or leave. I think this series is great because it's the first piece of Star Wars media to carefully maintain an air of authenticity in a long time. I don't think Andor was perfect, it had a lot of dead weight in my opinion, but not nearly enough to dampen my excitement for its better qualities. Most side characters felt like they were just there so we don't forget about them when they become relevant in the next season. Some scenes felt like they were on repeat every time we came back to certain characters doing the same thing in the same place. Most of the extras being human and some of the overused sets sort of made this series feel a lot smaller in scale, even making the universe feel smaller, despite a clear focused use of budget to make the sets look really, really good. In that sense, this doesn't feel like Star Wars at all, because its visuals could fit inside any sci-fi setting if you didn't see people in Imperial uniforms roaming around and the occasional storm trooper. Luckily, we did get a great sense of economy; which is ironically why Tatooine was such a cool setting, because in the original movie it looked and felt like a functional society, with commerce and problems therein which trickled down from authoritarian rule. So beginning there, this series actually captures the spirit of that original movie and its "sophisticated" world building perhaps better than any of its sequel and prequel films ever did. It's all the same themes and cinematic language of that first film in a format that breathes. I was satisfied with the opening arc, impressed by the heist arc, and blown away by the prison arc. The original Star Wars movie's middle act was everything great about this series, a sort of prison break heist movie with mounting tensions. In the movie, that story arc lasts around the span of one episode of this series. This series essentially did the middle act of the original film again and again, spread across three episode arcs, and that felt like we got three really solid movies worth of that middle act of the first movie. Considering that's my favorite part of my favorite Star Wars movie, this show was a borderline religious experience for me. This series also takes a lot of my favorite things about the prequel era and incorporates them into the context behind its action. In that sense, this series embodies so much of what I love about Star Wars. I think Andor has the potential to be to the originals a more concise version of what The Clone Wars was for the prequel movies.

I’m always going to be more interested in the Jedi and bounty hunter side of the Starwars Universe, but Andor was interesting since it focused on other things. I did enjoy that the episodes were consistent in length compared to the other shows and nothing seemed rushed. I just wish BOBF and Obi had been done better. I have wanted Star Wars to get the Battlestar Galactica re-imagining treatment for years and this show finally did it! There is room in Star Wars for BOTH the family friendly wonder of the core Star Wars shows like Mando/Clone Wars/Rebels and the gritty adult drama more befitting of a society in a time of fascism, rebellion and war. Variety is good as long as the shows don't contradict each other's canon too much, and Andor does not contradict anything else in Cannon. It is an excellent show 9 out of 10 for me because I think that the pacing could have been a little tighter, (just a little!). If some of the scenes in epi 1+2 were trimmed (the kids walking through the woods and painting their faces on Kanari, and the old man annoying Luthen on the bus into town), and one less scene of Syril eating cereal, there could have been more of Mothma in the Senate maybe facing off with Sy Moore ( an undeveloped character from the prequels who would have made a good antagonist). I like this show but I understand how some people could have been bored.
