New video! Batista's return was untimely. If it had happened in a time where Daniel Bryan wasn't that over, maybe it would've been a different story. Because the current crybaby fans hold grudges on wrestlers such as Batista, Goldberg etc because of the shows booking but will make every excuse in the book if its some 5'0 150 lb idiot who is booked badly.
@humbleson88862 жыл бұрын
I don't think batista was the problem, he was just the one who had to face the backlash of most of the fans because he was put in a position that I don't think he should have been put in. Daniel Bryan was so over at that time that everyone wanted to see him win the rumble instead of Batista or anyone else for that matter. Now the argument can be made that Batista brought eyes to the company and made smackdown a little more relevant as you stated, but this doesn't mean he had to come back and be in the main event at wrestlemania or win the royal rumble. They could've placed him in a high profile fued that didn't include the title and it would've brought the same level of relevance IMO. Another argument that can be made is that Bryan winning the rumble would be too predictable and WWE wanted to surprise the fans with a massive return like Batista, but the problem with that is everyone wanted Bryan to win. Yes, unpredictably is good but not when your audience wants something that badly unless you have something that can top it (which I don't think that there was anyone or anything that the audience wanted more than Bryan winning that night). Imo it should of been batista vs triple h at wrestlemania and Bryan vs Orton in the main event.

As for the “crowbar Daniel Bryan” thing and everyone doing the whole “durr smart fans ruined the main event” when in reality, it was WWE being tone deaf. You have one of your most popular names on your roster, they’re ready for them to pull the trigger on a title push on him and they don’t do it. Sure, nixed plans but why avoid trying to do that? Things would work out in the end but could you imagine past scenarios where they have a popular name and they don’t even capitalize on that popularity over a returning name?
@jordannewsom36062 жыл бұрын
The thing is Bryan's popularity only came of the yes chant. You can say he was still popular but know for a fact people said the YES chant without even knowing where it came from
@midsectionmark89562 жыл бұрын
He was popular but so was Batista. Plus the vocal minority making wrestling annoying the watch in 2014 wasn’t a good thing and drove more people away from WWE. Ya the company are tone deff alot of the time but their deff wasn’t as annoying as the babyish crowds.

@@jordannewsom3606 certainly true.. I never see Bryan were good at promos at the likes of Punk or even Sheamus.. When looking back at 2012,Bryan was the ego maniac teamed with Kane,his Yes & No screaming were that his own adamant thing when with Kane & then boom.. Cena put him over.. Remember who was over that time than bryan,like the MITB ppv? Its CM Punk.. the mitb itself showed Bryan really wanna steal spotlight & chants from every others in the All-Star MITB .. Its the constant playing with him the title put him over... And still there's Cm punk on aid at times & Punk had to deal with Shield,while bryan had to deal with Wyatts,which resulted in Shield/Wyatts feud .. Even if Bryan wasn't injured,I don't know if he could really the company with him.. Then Ziggler carrying Smackdown for the rest of 2014,when Ziggler/Bryan met the tables are in doubt.. And looking at Bryan's style of work,any wrestler he faces should automatically became a heel for him.. and it didn't delivered well with already under rated Ziggler.. Is Bryan the star maker? I don't sure.. Is Ziggler the star maker,Yes he is.. We need star makers & not people stealing the aura out of other wrestlers.. That's why Bryan can't be great baby face at all & ultimately WWE went with Brock/Roman,now there's no new Mega Stars relevant to carry the wrestling business after Punk.. And they never pulled the trigger on guys like Ziggler still (and wanna make people forget Star performers)

See? People are still salty. They are making the reactions Bryan got out of the crowd to be a bad thing. They would much rather watch matches where there's pin drop silence and the crowd plays with beach balls and stuff. Certain people are simply idiots. Batista did nothing wrong. The writers however messed it up completely. I remember Batista coming back, he was cheered like the biggest thing WWE had ever seen. He should have feuded with Del Rio at the time. Instead WWE adamantly decided to stop Bryan's push and had him get into a bullshit feud with Bray Wyatt. Batista turned heel, played his part to perfection and made Bryan's WrestleMania 30 Main event, the best fucking main event in nearly 10 years. He did everything right. Bryan did everything right. The crowd expressed themselves and got what they wanted. And Ultimately, WWE got what they wanted too. They probably deserved a borefest of a Batista vs Orton feud instead, but they got lucky.

Some fans are just stupid. As Batista has done multiple times in his career, he puts people over. He is NOT Hulk Hogan. He understood what the crowd wanted at that point and wanted WWE to listen. They didn't. WWE after salvaging that year's WrestleMania actually went on a 4-year streak where they shoved Roman Reigns down our throats for no other reason other than "Any reaction is good reaction". No dude, look at Roman now. Roman could have done this ages ago had he been allowed to turn heel and fans would have got what they wanted. You cannot force guys to be babyface unless the crowd treats them as babyface. And whenever someone gets over due to a chant, or a match or a promo or whatever, you take that moment and make a new star. WWE hasn't done that since they turned Becky into "The Man". They had Rusev Day, Cesaro Section, Kofimania and many more opportunities, but they royally fucked themselves in the ass. Now they have put all their chips into the Brock vs Roman main event and have got nothing else going on. They are fucked.

If they went with that Undertaker and Batista rematch at Mania, things would’ve definitely turned out better. He would not be interfering with the Daniel Bryan stuff so he wouldn’t receive shit from fans and he would’ve definitely declined to end the streak so Undertaker wouldn’t lose that night so he’d either retire undefeated or give the win to someone else who would greatly benefit from it. Shame how it all turned out.

I personally don't think Batista's 2014 return was bad, I was really pleased to see him back even if it was for a short run, I just think it was a case of him being in the right place at the wrong time especially as Daniel Bryan was red hot with the yes movement and the fans being really into him so much not to mention everyone was growing really tired of seeing the same guys either holding the title or part timers coming in to contanstly take the spotlight. I think WWE turning Batista heel was a great move because he was already getting crapped on as a face and to his credit, he did a lot of jobs and helped put guys over for the good of the company, Batista showed that he was a team player. I would say Batista's 2014 return got off to a shaky start but quickly saved itself from complete disaster by turning heel and reuniting with Evolution to feud with The Shield which produced two back to back epic six man tag matches. In 2019, Batista got to have one last match against Triple H at Wrestlemania and retire on his own terms, so it wasn't all bad. Everything worked out for the best

The way I would've book this goes: Cena and Orton had the World tittles, instead of unifying the championships at TLC, Batista returns after TLC to challenge Cena for the WHC, at the Royal Rumble. Batista destroys Cena similar to how Lesnar killed Cena at Summerslam later that year. This gets him revenge for 2010 and turns him into a monster heel. Bryan wins the Royal Rumble but the authority makes up an excuse to make his win not count and instead do the unifying match at wrestlemania. "Yes movement" storyline ensues, Bryan beats Orton and Batista unifying the belts at WM.

It was right but after Team Hell No, Bryan was in limbo facing The Shield with Punk and a hand picked star at the time until the Wyatt Family storyline. That could've stayed until WM30 and John could have done something else and keep Batista in the spotlight more than the Daniel Bryan vs Authority feud since Summerslam where Punk faced Brock Lesnar also. It was the right time but the adding in of Bryan was the first as for 2015 and last year being the other 2 times they tried adding him in and I was worried that he would have won and give Edge the bury like he did Batista as in old legend comes back and regain the title after years of absence. I'd rather see Batista winning and keeping the title for a year or so until dropping it at WM31 to Brock.

I mean Batista wasn't even the shit anymore to be honest bc they were just gonna give us Batista and Randy Orton for the 100th time. Wow he left WWE for 4 years just to give us Batista vs. a stale Randy Orton(at the time) in the main event. At least when he returned in 2019 it was cool because the build to Triple H Vs. Batista at Wrestlemania 35. And the match was cool.
@midsectionmark89562 жыл бұрын
That’s where we disagree. Batista left on the top of his game and just like returning wrestlers that actually became stars when they return after a period away they still bring that star power. Yes chances are a Batista vs Randy Orton match wouldn’t have worked especially at that time. The match we got was much better. But the only stale part of the match we would have got would have been Randy Orton. The being pushed down our throats as much as Cena.

Like for example CM Punk and Daniel Bryan had a no-nothing feud between them and the Wyatt family and of course the whole Championship coronation where the fans took over and did not want to hear with the authority had to say
