Hakeem is the most underrated player ever. Michael Jordan said that Hakeem is the only player he feared. He said a quote several times He feared the big black African. Hakeem dominated Shaq, Robinson, Ewing, and many other centers. His skill level was by far the best of any center of all time. Shaq has been quoted many times saying that the only way to stop Hakeem is to throw your hands in the air and pray that he miss. In the conference finals a while back he made David Robinson look like a schoolboy. He had Robinson jumping left right and left again before Hakeem would lay it in for a score. Now don’t get me wrong I mean, no disrespect towards Robinson, Ewing, nor Shaq, I love them all and think they are of phenomenal players. I just think Hakeem is by far the best skilled player in that position. He had no superstars on his team until they were out of their prime. He basically carried the rockets for their two championships. They had no superstar players with them. The last finals victory they did have Clyde Drexler however he was far out of his prime. Had Clyde been with Hakeem his entire career they would’ve won multiple more championships. Again no disrespect to those other guys because they were the cream of the crop. HAKEEM rocks. That’s why some of the biggest superstars in the NBA are paying Hakeem lots of money to personally train them on his footwork. I miss Hakeem, and there will never be another like him.

@@scottcooksey5284 @scott cooksey Olajuwon was a freak athlete similar to Wilt and held off Shaquille O'Neal at his strongest. Wilt was no doubt a freak too. He was a Track and field athlete in the body of a 7 footer. Hakeem came from Africa as a prospect with ZERO basketball background and learned while in. College. If he was playing his whole life he would have had a more dominant career. His early game was raw athleticism and youth. It wasnt until he hit his prime that he got the finesse and soft shooting touch, combined with his "dream shake" and quickness he was almost unguardable, and soon after his prime age and injuries took over. As it is Hakeem is 12th in total scoring, 10th in steals (no other center is even close) and 1st all time in blocks and no one is even close. Im a spurs fan and im a big Fan of Tim and his run. Hes a cornerstone for tge team but he wasnt the monster Hakeem was for those Rockets. As far as Wilt... He had Russell as a rival and was beaten all the time. Hakeem had a Murderers row, the 90s (arguably) was the golden era for centers. Ewing, Shaq, Mourning, Robinson, Mutumbo. Hakeem had tougher matchups than Wilt.

@@vent51177 I appreciate your opinion,, I disagree with some of what your stating. Need I remind you -again- that some of that era there were 2 pro leagues. There were plenty of strong big men in that era for competition. Do you happen to think the break away rim is kinder and softer lending itself to a friendly roll , shooters touch? I do. What do you feel on refs. Did they blow the whistle more back in Wilts era? I do. Fact of business they did. You watch old video of those guys ,,, always had their hand on Top of the ball,,why,,, anything else was palming, traveling, carrying the ball. Wasn't no hop ,skip and jump happening,. Euro step please. Whistle blew. Hell anyone can run with the ball. Hang on the rim ala Shaq see what happens. Was dunking always legal? These modern players couldn't survive back then. They have to leave most of their game on the playground. 3 refs now and they still can't call the game right--- so all this stuff they don't see. All the refs know now is protect the marquis.

There's a reason they call him "the Dream". My Dad worked for Houston University during Phi Slamma Jamma. We grew up watching the Rockets and cheering for Hakeem. He was incredible!!! Best footwork I've ever seen and strong as an ox!!! A sweet jumper, every post move, more blocks than anyone in history ... he was my favorite player growing up! If you haven't seen Olajuwan play, do yourself a favor and look up his highlights. He was unlike any player before or since

Hakeem is considered to have the Greatest Footwork of any Center Ever Both Tim and Hakeem could hit mid range jumpers Hakeem had a fadeaway jumpshot Duncan had a backboard shot Hakeem had crossover moves and spin moves Both could score in the paint but Hakeem had the Dream Shake with several counter moves Hakeem could guard perimeter players in spurts and blocked some of the Most crucial 3pt shots in NBA history...Jordan possible game winners in reg season, Starks 3 in the Finals and etc. So Duncan may have won more titles and has longevity over Hakeem. But Duncan has a couple of goose eggs or zeros in the Accolades column compared to Hakeem. Also Hakeem had far more yrs of less help than Duncan did in his career. Hakeem Def versatility is better since he could block 3 point shots and he is in the top 10 ever in steals Also he could guard perimeter players in spurts alot better than Duncan ever could because of Hakeems footwork. Hakeem avg more points in his career, more Blocks, more rebs, more steals, better FT%, better FG% About the only thing Duncan did better was more Assists. Also both TS% are the same, but Hakeems Scoring, percentage, and TS% in the playoffs gets better. Tim Duncan's drops This tells you that Duncan didnt perform as good as Hakeem in the playoffs but still won more. If this isnt an indication that the team surrounding Duncan was better than what was surrounding Hakeem most yrs, then I dont know what does. Hakeem played better than Duncan in the playoffs most yrs and got less rings. This speaks more on the team than the player, the era, and opponents faced.

I believe him, Hakeem was something special, and had he not played in the Michael Jordan era he would have dominated and won more titles. But Big Shot Bob is kinda shorting Duncan, he may not have worked like Olajuwon, but Duncan was definitely a hard worker and tough as they come. It's just that dream was a special big man that we'll never see the likes of again. His foot work that he developed playing soccer as a young kid before he shot up to 6'10 or 6'11 is just something phenomenal. You will never ever see another big have that kind of footwork. I think Hakeem could have played today's game because he was a really good mid range shooter, so, no reason to not believe that he couldn't have done it from the 3 point range like today's big men do.
