The best thing about Sanatan Dharma is that u can question anything and everything. Time and again people have questioned the authenticity of Gita and Vedas and even went on to call "Ramayana" and "Mahabharata" as myth but it only makes Sanatan Dharma much more stronger. I am not a Hindu but I take the Hari Naam daily and say the Mahamantra all the time, and I love listening to kirtan. One does not have to a Hindu to love such things, and I don't feel the need to explain myself to anyone, I just love it. Your experience is so divine and so rare, to actually have a vision of a temple (or a moorti).. You are truly blessed and an advanced saddhaka.. 🙏 You are so right, for us it is so weird to think one can just convert to another faith, let alone be paid or coerced. Sanatana Dharma literally means Eternal Duty (to abide by individual as well as social principles-moral code to fulfil earthly life experiences and attain liberation). So how can any soul be not a Sanatani, not just on this Earth but anywhere in any universe? The fact that word 'religion' was foreign to us before we were invaded by the west since last thousand years, is because there was no other religion on the planet before a couple of millenniums! So why would we call our way of life as 'religion'? There was nothing else in order to have categories! Dharma is not a synonym for religion, it is way deeper and personal at the same time universal to any soul who is on the path to reach Him not matter if he does or does not accept Him or even is aware that he is on that path. Essentially every living soul is on its evolutionary path. While naively we let Hinduism be called 'way of life', it has brought about negative consequences to our majority, because the British Law conveniently snatched our status of independent religion, which benefited the minorities to claim their religion to be recognised by law and demand privileges which a hindu is deprived of in the name of we being secular. So the Hindus taking pride in saying that 'Hinduism is not a religion, it's a way of ilfe', beware that the others do not take it in the way you mean it. Term Hinduism is so incorrect on so many levels, one you explained correctly about Sindhu civilisational backgorund, another main one is, the West has cunningly coined this term with 'ism' in it making it as a cult and something that is arguable or debatable, while keeping other major religions names intact from their own languages! We let them change our towns names, our country's name, even our religion's name while being enslaved; sad situation is we did not claim our originality back even after independence. I console myself knowing that this is Kaliyuga and it is supposed to be like this, sattva will be oppressed and tama will be on the rise. In the end everything will go back to Him it its pure form.
